This year’s theme song features Singaporean musicians across four different generations. The song comprises carefully curated verses sung by 27 artistes representing different generations to express their generation’s hopes, dreams and aspirations.
The theme song pays homage to the contributions and sacrifices of earlier generations as we are today living the dreams of our pioneers. We are now pioneers of our future, as we continue to build Singapore for tomorrow.

They didn’t run out of ideas. In my opinion they want to remind us the older days of singapore to appreciate what we had. . We really came so far appreciate what they have done for ndp song. Ain’t easy to compose a song that pleased everyone’s ears.

The reason why at the ending when it said "Our home, Our heart, Our dream... " The song did not complete, the reason why there was no "Our Singapore" was actually because, our dreaming isn't done!

i think the remake is great! funny how people are asking for original songs yet dislike it when they do (complaining that they prefer the old songs better) we are never satisfied

Caroline But most of this song is not even the old ones, a bulk of it comes from 2015. If you’d like to argue that, then any other reason is because we dislike the lyrics of the new and original composes. Take for example the 2013 one. We want originality, and yet still sound great. If they do a remix they’d better do it well, personally I prefer the 2018 remix over this. Basically what we need is another “home” a song that would truly ring with us and relate to us, and have original lyrics. You may have a point though because people keep complaining, even the ndp songs from the 1980s people complain then now actually looking back at it it’s not bad. Maybe it’s because we like things that are old so we dislike the newer songs because we long for nostalgia, but in fact back then some of the songs we find ok were considered bad then. Or either that now the new songs are so bad they learned how to appreciate the older ones so now we complain about the new ones, and unless the new songs get any better and also be original we won’t stop complainant go!
@@elevatorfilmersg while you do have a point, i think it's also important for us to appreciate the efforts put into the remake -- i believe hours of hardwork, input have been invested into conceptualising the song to the final product.The ndp theme song has definitely evolved through the years and has also shown to us how time and time again, they listened to our feedback. Constructive criticism will be helpful along with affirmation of their efforts, but constant bashing and complaints won't help at all.

i like rap but not every song needs a rap and a paid crowd to be “modernised and remastered”, maybe what people really want is the simplicity that the earlier songs had. reach out for the stars, tomorrow’s here today, and the 2009 one are great examples of modern and good

Woah after I read what is the message behind this song and listened to it, really make me really touched as ya even though we are a young nation but been thru many hardship. Not only that, we also make the impossible by making Singapore a third world country to a now internationally well known first world country.

Ya, the kids' part sounded nice. People are complaining about them using too much autotune, but the truth is Dick Lee is the one with the most autotune. He can write songs but he can't really sing. (no offence)
