    I hope cross gen evolutions continue because
    - it was my favourite part of gen 2. I remember being really salty about them being missing from gens 3 and, in part, gen 5. I think regional forms are neat as a way not to make any Pokémon too much of an expy of something previous.
    - i like how they expand on certain themes ie. how Poliwag line were based on tadpoles but never became a frog until GSC or how Yanmega is based on a more prehistoric form of dragonflies from fossils.
    - i have 10 or so boxes of shiny Pokémon in SV untouched just in case they get new evolutions in the future and it would be a waste to evolve them 😅
    Semi-related but I still think, from thier names, that Cetoddle and Capsakid should have been classified as baby Pokemon. I know they were viewed as a bit mixed but i miss baby Pokemon too. Toxel was cute in an ugly way.
    I do hope the remaining Hisui evolutions can be more accessible in the future. Maybe they could evolve while holding a hisuian ornament like a croagunk wooden doll and get hit by a certain move type (Ursaring- ground, Stantler- psychic, Petilil- fighting, Bergmite and Scyther- rock, sligoo- steel etc)

  • @MissBayaSeed
    @MissBayaSeed 3 месяца назад +3

    You are correct in saying that Gen 4 has the most cross gen evos to date, 29 to be exact and this includes Baby Pokémon. A cross gen evo just means adding a new Pokémon to an already existing Pokémon's line, in which case Gen 3 has 2 cross gen evos. Anyhow that means that 27.10% of Sinnoh's new Pokémon are cross gen evos, not half but still quite a lot. Also to all of the Eevee enthusiasts (myself included lol), the pattern of Eevee getting a new evolution every even numbered technically still stands. Even though Eevee didn't get a new evolution in Gen 8, it still got something new with Gigantamax Eevee. Not exactly a new evoluton but a 'new' design within the Eevee family. We're on the cusp of Pokémon turning 30 which is a pretty big deal and with Eevee being one of the poster children of the franchise I'd wager to say that it'll get something new come Gen 10. What better way than a Dragon Eeveelution to celebrate 30 years of Pokémon? Heck maybe even a new duo if they're feeling generous. Dragon, Ghost, Bug, Ground, & Flying are at the top 5 of my wishlist. I'm just happy Game Freak doesn't seem afraid to give us cross gen evos alongside things like regional variants & convergent Pokémon, it makes the games feel way more organic. All I wish come Gen 10 is if we get more cross gen evos that Pokémon from ALL generations get a fair share of the cross gen evo pie, not just Kanto. I don't want another Sun & Moon on our hands with the regional variants being solely for Kanto Pokémon lol.😬😅

    For the longest time I thought that Gliscor and Weavile were simple item trade evolutions, but when I finally got around to using one its actually a lot more unique than that. Requiring you to level it up wit the item instead of trading with it and even requires a certain time of day for each. Personally, I will always prefer a cross gen evolution to a regional variant. There are times where a regional variant makes more sense, but only when the form doesn't feel like a linear progression of the base mon. I can totally see Exeggutor evolving into a more traditional palm tree, especially with how versatile Alolan Exeggutor is on some teams. The other big problem is that any sort of copy form has no obligation to retain the strengths or character of the original. Hoennian Linoone's biggest claim to fame was its combination of Belly Drum and Extreme Speed. 2 moves that Obstagoon is sorely lacking.
    IMO, Alola did a much better job of this than Galar mainly because a lot of gen 1 Pokemon were overshadowed by later gen Pokemon, some even occupying the same design ethos, like Muk and Garbodoar or Rapidash and Zebstrika, which would make it difficult to evolve either without blurring their identities more than they already are. Regional variants are a great solution to this because it creates new options to improve the design that also keep the original Pokemon's identity intact.
    Corsola and Farfetch'd are definitely the most frustrating examples because both leave the original with nothing to do, and don't put enough effort in to further the ideas put forth with their originals. Sure Galarian Farfetch'd evolves when you crit, but NOTHING ELSE about it has anything to do with critting. An incredibly shallow representation of such a unique playstyle. Corsola is almost as bad because it gets some fantastic abilities in Natural Cure and Regenerator that are just thrown in the trash due to its bad typing. Would've loved to see a Rock/Ghost type Cursola for the unique combo alone

    • @THGMR-ox7sd
      @THGMR-ox7sd 3 месяца назад

      I agree with galarian corsola and Cursola being rock/ghost.
      But I feel like that typing would make them less defensive and I think that’s their role. I could be wrong though.
      Them only being ghost makes them have less things that are super effective against them.

  • @oscarorozcoorejel
    @oscarorozcoorejel 3 месяца назад

    You talk about the eveolite and people being scared that it means the Pokémon who’s can’t use won’t be able to evolve but this is the exact reason why I hate megas so much. It stopped so many good candidates from evolving forever cause mega is supposed to be over the natural limit of the Pokémon’s line. The megas for 3 stage evolutions are obviously fine but the others ruin so many possible designs for actual evolutions, I love mega Alteria so much and I wish that was the finally evolution, make the fairy dragon real but no, all it did was kill that possible Pokémon and what makes this so much more insulting is how Pokémon gave up on megas so all that design effort was for nothing.
