I just ordered 4 of these for my future solar setup. I got them for 1570 delivered from the eco worthy ebay store. I'm looking forward to being self sufficient as I live in western north carolina and the power was down for almost 3 weeks and has been going off regularly for hours as they are still repairing the damage from the hurricane. I don't want to be reliant on the grid anymore. Solar will pay for itself anyways. Thank you for sharing!
Glad to hear this. I have two of these, this is better than I was expecting for the price.
I have 2 of those, wired in Parallel at my Off-Grid cabin. They are awesome for the price.
It does not have low temp protection. They do say it can charge to -5C. I bought this battery this year and am use a Victron Smart Battery Sensor with my Victron chargers to prevent low temp charging.
I'm thinking about getting one of these for my off-grid cottage to replace expired AGM batteries. Question about storing in cold temps of -40F over the winter. I normally close up my cottage at the end of September and before leaving, I make certain that my batteries are well charged. I then disconnect all wires from the terminals so there's NO charge going into the battery and nothing coming out since loads are all disconnected. Would leaving this battery is a cold building (-40F) over the winter damage it ? Would it retain its charge over the winter or would the cold temps cause it to self-discharge? Thanks in advance for any info anyone could provide.
The likelihood of getting a retail unit with the level of capacity your unit has is highly unlikely. The sad part is usually companies like to send out “golden samples” to reviewers to make products seem better than they are because they know your going to test the capacity. I’ve read quite a few reviews saying their units of this battery tested quite a bit lower than advertised, and then they had to arm wrestle with eco worthy to get it replaced. Let’s hope that’s not the case most of the time but I’m always Leary when reviews say “the company sent this too me for free”
Interesting theory. Mine was drop shipped from Amazon, so not sure if it was hand selected with a higher capacity. Have you seen any videos that show a significantly lower capacity test?
Newbie here. Ppl complaining about no low temp cutoff - could you store these inside a foam cupboard and is there any risk of high temp issues? Any built in management of high temp?
Vent it
I do believe they have high temp safety. I plan to build a little room for these on an exterior wall to keep them from the coldest temps, and to keep them from burning down my house if they have a catastrophic failure....win win.
There’s a 24 V 280 W hour on Amazon and it has heating and its Bluetooth BMS. I’m thinking about getting that one and it has 7 kW. I thought that was pretty good amount. The name is HRX new energy. They seem like not a super big company, but they seem pretty good and they have a five-year warranty.
Also, what is that thing that you have the fan that discharges the battery I’m not sure what the name is and I want to get one to test when I get one
It’s XRH, and it’s $1399.
There is a new version of the ECO-Worthy that has heat and BT. It is $474.39 after $80 coupon. The original is $459.99 after $100 coupon.
@@trevorbickle821 The fan thing is a battery capacity test. They run ~$40-80. There are enclosed ones for hobby use and some can even use one battery to charge another but they cost more.
@a2cryss 474 where!
Nice! Thanks for the info!
My food truck has 24volt system could I hook 2 of these to my existing battery system to keep them charged off my alternator?
They make a 24v version.
@@AdventureGearTV I seen that but here in Philippines I can only get the 12volt 280ah for some reason I’ve searched and searched for the 24volt
4:12 so that battery right there would put out more than the Eco flow Delta max ??’ if this is correct and I’m not misunderstanding you we would like to see you build a power station with this battery and do a comparison. I think it would be a unique video Let me know what you think.
I'm building one now. Have several of these and oppinion is unsure for now. Charged then up with smart charger... voltages are all different.
Yes, about 89% more
Thank you for the test.
Normally you would discharge a battery at 0.2C or a 5 h discharge.
For this battery it would be 56 A continuous.
Hey great video of my man. Are you sure it has under temperature protection for charging? I was looking at the specs and thinking about buying this and it seems like it did not. Wonder if you tested that?
You are correct. It doesn’t have low temp cut off
Thanks for the interesting video, but as the company them selves sent you the battery i would not trust the capacity test as they may have used slightly higher capacity cells. I have see this happening before. I would tend to trust products that people got them selves and not paid or donated products. I have these batteries myself for home use and are working great so far. Thank you again.
Nice video. I bought a few of these during their last ebay sale. Have a couple projects for these. For the price it couldn't be beat at the time. So expectations probably should be in line. Non of myn charged to the same voltage so connecting in seried for 48v i may lose some capacity
My delta2 max with extra battery is about 100lbs for 4096Wh. 60lbs for 3.5KWh is not bad.
There are maybe some serious short comings with this battery, but despite all that, connected to a charge controler with temp protection and. My main issue I'd ballance seems to be off so over time it could get worse, but at best it means a lower capacity.... I messaged seller, eco worthy and no reply. So I think only thing to do is to try to notify possible buyers of the imbalance issue. Still might not be a bad deal, but also bough vater batter at slightly higher... maybe less than $.01 per watt balancing ses much better, also case, breaker, screen and so on.... these batteries are maybe totally different use wise, but for little more so far I see the vater server rack is much better... this is of course 48 vs 12v systems so ecowise is entry for people like me who are thinking home systems and so on... I'd say skip this and go directly 48v. If 12v system building this has been the best deal per watt hr I could find. At about $420 per 280 battery. Balancing appears to be an issue though. Want to see a total tear down and can't find one as to date.
Do you get to keep the battery? I see them going for $500-$1200 so ive been waiting to buy them until the prices stabilize, unless EcoWorthy just lies about its MSRP
I bought two when they first showed up for under $1,000.00. Pretty tough to beat that price then, and now. Not top of the line but good enough for me for the bucks.
Please please please an lfp battery should be compared to two lead acid batteries as lead acid can typically only be discharged to 50%
The lfp battery will typically weigh 1/3 of equally rated lead acid but as it can be discharged 100% it's actually 1/6 the weight of a comparable usable capacity lead acid.
Then typically 8 x the no of cycles in use able life to 80% capacity.
8 x 6 = 48
That's 48 x the lifetime capacity
Bust that thing open son, see what BMS is in there. Build quality? Does high temp cutoff work?
Will this work for a 4k watt boat audio sytem?
No. 4000w/13v = over 300 amp. This battery has max discharge rate of 250 amp
@krosowiec Oh snap I ordered the battery this morning
That is a ridiculous amount of power for an audio system. Are you sure it pulls 4kw?
Now what I would like to see you do is take that battery and build it to your own homemade solar generator and how does that compare to your Eco flow Delta two max as for putting out power because by far it’s a considerably bigger battery I guess my question would be with the right and burger. Would that make for a crazy power station asking for a friend that really doesn’t understand the power stations as good as you.
I have this battery and I ran it down to .11v and now it won't charge. Anyone have any ideas on how to charge it? I've tried an Eco-worthy charger and the battery won't respond
I built my own LifePo4 battery so my main charging is via MPPT charge controller. MPPT have a wake charge so it will wake up the battery.
Happens to me a lot. I use 32a bench power supply for about 5 minutes, until the voltage climbs to around 11.7v then any charger would work.
I'm about to watch this, but I have one of these too, so it will be interesting what buddy thinks., i have a Xantrex 1800HF for battery charging and power inversion.
Interesting, let us know your experience.
I do not see anywhere that says it has low temp charge cut off.
You are correct. It doesn’t have low temp cut off
You can achieve low temperature protection using victron gear. Not as good as having it built in but available as a work around.
I have the same one never hold a charge After 24 hour always lose 40%
I have 2 units from them as well. Voltage keep dropping down to 13.3v some hours after fully charge with Eco worthy charger. This is concerning
Good
I'm thinking about doing 12 of these in 4s3p
Oh, I'm jealous
First 😊
Thank you!
