Peugeot 208 In-Depth Review | A Great Hatchback that's very Pretty!

  • This week on the DoneDeal RUclips channel we're reviewing the Peugeot 208. It has to be said that visually it's absolutely stunning! The design has been taken to the next level! The interior is very sophisticated with its 3D cockpit, the rectangular steering wheel and large infotainment system.
When it comes to engines the 208 has a wide variety included a 1.2 litre petrol which has three different outputs:
    1. 75bhp
    2. 100bhp
    3. 130bhp (only in automatic)
It also has a diesel engine for those who drive long motorway miles as well as a fully electric version with a 50kWh battery pack.
To drive it's light, nimble and very user friendly, particularly for first time drivers or people who aren't as confident behind the wheel. The bite point on the clutch is easy to find too.
If you're looking for a small hatchback, then the 208 makes a compelling argument against the likes of the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta and all of its other rivals.
We hope you enjoyed watching out review and thanks very much for taking the time to view it.

such a beautiful car! it’s a road gem! I used to have the 205 gti 1.9 back at the 80’s and it’s the first time I find a Peugeot model as pretty as the 205 was. my only complain is that I expected in the range a model equal to the Hyundai i20n. Peugeot has the knowledge to produce such a car. anyway that doesn’t remove any of its beauty!

Bear in mind the legendary 205gri had a crap interior , assembled by the bored French workers and PSA reliability was the opposite to the Japanese. They also offered a 1.9L gti that was insanely fast. Even VW was mildly impressed (behind closed doors)

    Excellent review.
Nobody has picked up the narrow gap between the clutch and the foot rest. Very important point. 👍

If you don't mind me asking, would this be a good car to learn to drive in?

That foot issue where there is not must space for big feet/shoes to rest at the side of the pedal is the same on my ds3 crossback, so it must be a PSA group thing since they are all basically by the same people....same with the apple carplay and android auto not taking up the full screen which makes it look naff...though saying that i am someone who likes the sat nav as it is, i have seen no need at all to use android auto satnav or apple car play

My very first car was a 403. 4 spd. manual on the column. I loved that car. Then Peugeot pulled out of the US . Now at 78, I drive a VW GTI MK 7.5 it’s the best small car you can get here 🇺🇸. I would buy that 208 in a split second if it were available. Maybe I should move to Europe ?? Thanks, great job. RickGTI….. 🇺🇸🌴

I think the Golf is about a small a car as you would want to overcome the wind effects of US highway semi trucks. The 208 is really a city car. Even the basic Mini looks funny on US Highways. Love to someone driving in a Fiat Panda 4x4 in the snowbelt just to show AWD does not need mean might wins. Even the current Honda Civic coupe is gone and the Civic is about a big as the original Accord. I recall Peugeot Canada offering a hot sedan at one point before leaving. The new Renault Sport R5 would be fun in NYC though.

The useless glovebox is a feature of all RHD French cars (not LHD). So they just don't bother moving the fuse box to the other side when the car is made for RHD. For some cars, it was just cheaper as they sold so little of them but the Germans (and even Italians) made the change (with the Italians then not making any effort to make the footwell pedals correct for RHD). So as long as the PSA and Renault don't care about RHD (British Isles) then the glovebox is just that- room for a pair of stylish French driving gloves

Not sure why Peugeot puts black accents on the wheel arches on these cars, it ruins the aesthetic!

Golfing "pitch??". Also we're all accepting that the incar system is crap in 2021 where we have fast smartphones that do even more. It could at least be lag-free in the 21st century. Without Emergency braking and some other "optional" features then NCAP rating gets cut so to say PSA is being generous.. Thank NCAP

Seems about time that PSA dropped offering a diesel for the smallest cars. Who does massive distances in a small car like this frequently. Sure the Russians liked them but well er Russia preferred cars that could cope with crap icy roads in -30 temps. Not something the French worry to much about.

Depends on the market. Where I am, used diesels are significantly less expensive than the 100hp petrol version. Higher yearly tax than the petrol but that diff is eaten up pretty quickly at 0,4l/10km vs 0,6l/10km if diesel and petrol cost the same. And as our host explains, this three cylinder engine sounds a bit like a diesel..
