      I once owned 62! Started with 4, then 8, then they had babies and Voilà! 🙌 They lived well past beyond their life expectancy, until one by one sadly died. She only gave birth once, then I kept them in separate tanks (Males/Females) so they wouldn't breed.

    This is what my Grandpa did. He’d move her to her own space to give birth.❤ And made sure she was well fed and separated her from babies. Thanks for sharing and reminding me of happy memories when my grandfather would teach me about the guppies he raised.

      @@rahulkalyan267 not everyone in isolation has covid 19. My family is in isolation because me and my mum have medical issues that could make us higher risk if we got sick and lots of countries are advising social distancing and self isolation where possible now.

      Live bearers such as guppies, mollies, swordtails, lyre tails are know to eat their own babies. I know I used to keep and breed them when I was a kid.

    One of my tetras gave birth a few months ago. I didn't even know she was pregnant, nor did I see any eggs. Just happened upon a baby one day, two others appeared when they were large enough to not be eaten. They've tripled in size since I first saw them.
    Raising baby fish is one of the best parts of keeping!! So glad you have so many babies 🥰

    The other fish knew she was ready to give birth at any moment and were in position behind her to eat her babies as soon as they come out. Notice how she and the babies dart in opposite directions right after each birth to give the baby a chance of escape.

      Nancy King-Hoffman if they can’t take care of their babies, they’re not gonna risk their own health to do so. if they can’t find food in nature to feed themselves and their babies with, then why keep the babies? that just risks the mother dying. many animals do that. pandas eat their cubs, hamsters eat their babies, many birds will snap the necks of their smallest chick if they end up having more than 2-3 of them. it’s nature, and it’s for survival.

      It’s probably really uncomfortable for the fish to push those babies out. Fish can also get very sick like humans. So it’s still easier but really we have no idea what it’s like. Pretty crazy

    I had a fish like this and when I got her I had no idea that she was pregnant I just liked that she was fat, anyway her name was Sunnybub and I was about to go to bed and then there were a bunch of tiny sunnybuns and I was really happy because now I had tiny sunnybubs! , but then sunnybub started eating small sunnybubs and I was mortified. I was like 9.
