Hello Renata. Just come across your blogs and love them!
I have lived in England my whole life but only just visited the Tower of London a few months ago.
It is expensive but worth it. Me and my friend were there for about 4 or 5 hours. It's an incredible place and the yeoman warders give such a good tour !
Did you notice that of the White Tower, three corners are square and the fourth is circular ;) weird huh
There's also a bit that was rebuilt (rebricked) after it was bombed in the war.
    Very lovely piece of history

Hiya. Actually, the original crown jewels were lost, supposedly, by King John in 1216. He was travelling from Lincolnshire to Norfolk (taking them with him, as you do) and while moving across the boggy Wash, they sank into the marshes. Like sandbars, the marshlands of the Wash move or at least used to, so the jewels have never been recovered. It is estimated they would be worth upwards of $70,000,000 today. All the best to you.

@@RenataPereiraTV My pleasure, I think they came from a region which is now in Germany. They had occupied the area about 150 years before they invaded England, having absorbed the French language and some customs. The English had marched to meet them for 4 days without stopping immediately after defeating a large Viking army in the north. Had they paused for a day before attacking they probably would have won. It was not long before the English invaded and took Normandy. :-)

Sorry Renata, the Normans were not French. They were a separate people on the North coast of what is now modern France. That's why it was the Normans not the French who invaded in 10.66. Love your vids though.

Your opening remark is not quite correct. In 1066 Normandy and the Norman's weren't strictly part of France. The clue is in the name "Normans" they were descended from Viking norsman.
The duchy of Normandy shared the same outline as the old ecclesiastical province of Rouen that the Carolingian rulers could not defend against the Breton and Viking attacks. In 911, Charles the Simple, king of France, granted land to a Scandinavian leader called Rollo around the city Rouen in exchange for assistance against other Viking leaders.

No the Normans conquered England. Yes the Normans lived in France and certainly spoke french but they were Normans. The Normans conquered Normandy and then the french king who couldn’t stop them then agreed to allow them to keep Normandy. Norman literally means North man. These North men were Scandinavian or Nordic and were originally vikings before settling.

After the Romans withdrew, Celts from Britain moved into the area to seek refuge from the Anglo-Saxon invaders of the 5th and 6th centuries. It is from this event that Brittany derives its name. Over the next 300 years the Celts were converted to Christianity by missionaries from the British Isles.

I’m in London for sightseeing on my own and for the past two days I encountered two incidents consecutively whereby a group of young cyclists were shouting at me “fxxking (Asian)” from afar approaching me. Maybe they think I have blocked their way. The locations are at guard memorial and Greenwich college way. Sad to see some young british are being so racist and violent nowadays !

Anyway, if tourists are able to afford to go touring then the likely one-off entrance fee is really nothing to complain about. Incidentally, guided tours as given by the Yeoman Warders are free.

G J Wagner, thank you for your comment. I am not aware of specific statistics on crime or homelessness in London. We are aware that many cities/countries have "social challenges" but that is not the focus of our channel as you can tell. We hope that by providing assistance to travelers, helping them plan their oversea vacation that we can encourage income and jobs for those economies that welcome tourists. Today and now, we live in strange times where travel is not possible and we hope that all stay safe and healthy until such time that we can roam again with concern for our health.

@@RenataPereiraTV I understand. Someone told me that the UK is the fifth largest economy in the world, which totally took me by surprise because judging by the look of their infrastructure, quality of housing, schools and hospitals it is hard to believe. The homelessness issue is also surprising. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe there will be huge improvements in the future that will match mainland Europe or north America or Australasia etc.
