Hi you guys Amazing London! Been to London one time and only catch the surface ! Love you're work and vlogs Australia
That’s amazing to hear, Andrew! Thank you so much! ❤️🤗
Hello Renata. Just come across your blogs and love them!
I have lived in England my whole life but only just visited the Tower of London a few months ago.
It is expensive but worth it. Me and my friend were there for about 4 or 5 hours. It's an incredible place and the yeoman warders give such a good tour !
Did you notice that of the White Tower, three corners are square and the fourth is circular ;) weird huh
There's also a bit that was rebuilt (rebricked) after it was bombed in the war.
Very lovely piece of history
Love your channel !
Hi Natalie! Thank you so much! Oh wow, no, I didn't realize the different corners... How interesting! Yeah, the Tower of London is fantastic, probably my favorite attraction in London 😍😍. I love your country! ❤❤

The Normans were not a French people, they were originally Vikings or Norsemen meaning from the North.
Yes, some of them were descendants from Rollo, a famous Viking. Our guide explained that French, Norman, and Flemish soldiers among other groups were among the invaders during the Norman Conquest
William was the Duke of Normandy and was born in France
mikeuk ...Normandy was 'officially' an autonomous region of France at the time (due to a face-saving political arrangement for the King of France) but, in reality, it was effectively a truly separate country. The Norman invaders were not referred to as 'French' until the history and propaganda writers got stuck into the story.
@@RenataPereiraTV Not only descended from Rollo but from his army as well.
@@lockload100: William, Duke of Normandy and King of England, was not born in France: he was born at Falaise, in the Duchy of Normandy, c.1028. The duchy did not become a part of France until the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1259.

The Normans were originally Vikings who settled on the coast of France. From that location, they would launch raids on English settlements. The English would end their prayers with "Lord keep us from the wrath of the Northmen"

Really lovely vid and so well edited. Nice of you to highlight the Yeoman Warders. They must be the most over-qualified guides in any 'tourist attraction' anywhere in the world as they have all risen through the ranks of the British Army.
For sure! And it's so funny how they became amazing guides! Glad you like the video!
Alan Mac: The Yeoman Warders are not guides. They merely give guided tours in between their duties as Yeoman Warders - after-all, the Tower of London still is a royal palace and fortress.
@@anghinetti Just fuck off, mate. To say, "The Yeoman Warders are not guides. They merely give guided tours" is about as brain dead a statement as it's possible to make and still be able to type unassisted. You have got be be English.
Hiya. Actually, the original crown jewels were lost, supposedly, by King John in 1216. He was travelling from Lincolnshire to Norfolk (taking them with him, as you do) and while moving across the boggy Wash, they sank into the marshes. Like sandbars, the marshlands of the Wash move or at least used to, so the jewels have never been recovered. It is estimated they would be worth upwards of $70,000,000 today. All the best to you.
Oh wow!!!! I can imagine the number of people that have tried to recover them over the centuries!!! 😱😱😱
@@RenataPereiraTV yep an expensive mistake lol
The Normans were not what we know as French. They were "Norse-men" who conquered and settled a region of France now called Normandy. Nice video. :-)
Thank you very much😀
@@RenataPereiraTV My pleasure, I think they came from a region which is now in Germany. They had occupied the area about 150 years before they invaded England, having absorbed the French language and some customs. The English had marched to meet them for 4 days without stopping immediately after defeating a large Viking army in the north. Had they paused for a day before attacking they probably would have won. It was not long before the English invaded and took Normandy. :-)
Wow, you know history very well 😊😊. Our guide at the time played this “Norman/French” x British well, but now analyzing it I see he might have dramatized it a little 😄😂

Did you also know that castle winding staircases were always built to wind right not left because most people are right handed and its easier to use a sword coming down than using one going up because the inner wall would be in the way going up....

Hi Renata, the Normans weren’t really French. Their name comes from “Norsemen” as they came from Denmark, Iceland and Norway. They settle on the French coast in the tenth century. William the Bastard and Edward the Confessor were first cousins once removed hence Williams claim to the English throne.
Alec Bowman, thanks for the correction information. We and our audience appreciate your contribution. Thank you for watching! 👍😃

The Tower of London is a royal palace and fortress rather than a castle and prison. Was never designed to be a prison and is still to this day a palace and fortress.
Not long ago the Tower was covered in ceramic poppies to celebrate the end of WW2. Start to look here : www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-1134991/Stunning-drone-footage-poppies-Tower-London.html. Lotsa love, your friend, Keith

Sorry Renata, the Normans were not French. They were a separate people on the North coast of what is now modern France. That's why it was the Normans not the French who invaded in 10.66. Love your vids though.
No prob! I guess our guide was a little dramatic then with France vs England 😉
If you don't mind can I ask you where are you from Ma'am
Hi Manish! No problem! 😊😉 I’m from Brazil and I live in the USA
Norman’s weren’t French they had some French but mainly Norse ( Viking’s)
Thank you for that information
Your opening remark is not quite correct. In 1066 Normandy and the Norman's weren't strictly part of France. The clue is in the name "Normans" they were descended from Viking norsman.
The duchy of Normandy shared the same outline as the old ecclesiastical province of Rouen that the Carolingian rulers could not defend against the Breton and Viking attacks. In 911, Charles the Simple, king of France, granted land to a Scandinavian leader called Rollo around the city Rouen in exchange for assistance against other Viking leaders.
Renata I like your videos and You are looking so sweet I am missing you
Thank you sooooooo much! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
No the Normans conquered England. Yes the Normans lived in France and certainly spoke french but they were Normans. The Normans conquered Normandy and then the french king who couldn’t stop them then agreed to allow them to keep Normandy. Norman literally means North man. These North men were Scandinavian or Nordic and were originally vikings before settling.
Thank you for the historical information
After the Romans withdrew, Celts from Britain moved into the area to seek refuge from the Anglo-Saxon invaders of the 5th and 6th centuries. It is from this event that Brittany derives its name. Over the next 300 years the Celts were converted to Christianity by missionaries from the British Isles.
T
The Normans did not invade Britain, they only occupied England.
The Crown Jewels do not belong to the monarch - they are owned by the State.

hi
Hello and thanks for watching😀
The French didn't conquer England, it was the Normans who were of Viking heritage and had made the French King poo his pants so much that he gave then the area known as Normandy (Land of the Northmen)
Thank you for the information Roger
6:34 Talking about traitor's gate... then mentioned about Waltergate.... Americans .
Well... You say the French conquered Britain... The Norman's were not French, they were a losely related Tribe of Viking descent that swarmed across Europe claiming many areas including Normandy in France.
I’m in London for sightseeing on my own and for the past two days I encountered two incidents consecutively whereby a group of young cyclists were shouting at me “fxxking (Asian)” from afar approaching me. Maybe they think I have blocked their way. The locations are at guard memorial and Greenwich college way. Sad to see some young british are being so racist and violent nowadays !
Jeff Lu Cyclists is London are incredibly aggressive, It’s probably not them being racist as such (Them hating Asian people) but more to do with you doing something that for whatever reason pisses them and they’re just trying to insult you... But still never Ok.

You should go to the Imperial war museum to find out which countries Britain defeated in wars ! we left America cos it wasnt even worth fighting for !
HAHA, but Britain missed out on the riches, no?
The normans were actually scandinavian..the vikings.. who settled in normandy..that does not make them french...THE NORMANS ARE NOT FRENCH!!!
Thank you for the clarification
however the tour is expensive. Hey englanders, not all tourists can afford it. Be modest )
Fully agree 😉
Server 3478: Don't blame Englanders. If you want to blame anyone then blame Historic Royal Palaces: they manage the palace and fortress on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II. Anyway, if tourists are able to afford to go touring then the likely one-off entrance fee is really nothing to complain about. Incidentally, guided tours as given by the Yeoman Warders are free.
@@anghinetti
The Queen does not own any of the palaces - they are owned by the state. Conservation and maintenance of old buildings is costly.
I guess you are aware of London's crime figures and record homelessness?
G J Wagner, thank you for your comment. I am not aware of specific statistics on crime or homelessness in London. We are aware that many cities/countries have "social challenges" but that is not the focus of our channel as you can tell. We hope that by providing assistance to travelers, helping them plan their oversea vacation that we can encourage income and jobs for those economies that welcome tourists. Today and now, we live in strange times where travel is not possible and we hope that all stay safe and healthy until such time that we can roam again with concern for our health.
@@RenataPereiraTV I understand. Someone told me that the UK is the fifth largest economy in the world, which totally took me by surprise because judging by the look of their infrastructure, quality of housing, schools and hospitals it is hard to believe. The homelessness issue is also surprising. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe there will be huge improvements in the future that will match mainland Europe or north America or Australasia etc.
@@gjwagner1856
