    Your solderite board looks like a piece of art. That would be great for a background for your wife to do another sketchbook.

      Thank you Silverandstonegirl! I've always wanted to try a ceramic honeycomb pad. So far it seems pretty effective:)

    Gorgeous bracelet! I love your voice. Very soothing. I like a spray bottle lots of times like you because you can protect your peice from fire scale.

    This was fun. Chad, I do have a question for your upcoming Q&A video: Why do you heat a piece and then quench in cold pickle? Is it not more effective to use warm pickle to clean off surface oxides and flux? And is a "soak" in cold pickle the best clean? What are your criteria for those choices? Thanks! I'm always interested in the "why." 🌺 🌺 🌺

      I will add those questions to the list! Thanks Flying Chef:)

    I love the simplicity of this bracelet. Could you tell me how you accounted for the curve in the measuring process for the length of the bracelet. Thanks. Always love watching your videos I learn so much. 😊

      Thanks Kathy! I drew the picture to the length of a bracelet I made a while back. I shaped a thin piece of wire to match the shape of the band in the drawing and then straightened it out, using that as a guide for the length of half round I would need. Welcome to my Patreon! Thanks for joining:)

    Hi Chad! that bracelet is so pretty and unique! I was wondering if you could make a setting tutorial for trillion cut stones? Very interested to see thanks!

    Thanks for this Chad. Shaping the bezel for the tapered stone was good instruction. The bracelet is lovely. What did you think of the ceramic soldering block?

    Hi Chad, beautiful work. Chad I purchased 10 gayge round silver wire to make cuff bracelets. What can I use to make it easier to bend? It is half hard.

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  6 месяцев назад

      Hello Pamela:) If you have a torch, you can anneal the wire to soften it back up. Are you just going to bend them, or will you be soldering stuff to them?

      Hello Mary! I use White Diamond Polishing compound followed by Zam.

    Thank you for this!!! I never thought to just use the corner of a regular file 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve been trying to saw a corner out.
    I also have an issue with my solder breaking when i bend the silver to form a band (I’m trying to make a ring with this same technique.) Any thoughts??

    • @chadssilversmithing
      @chadssilversmithing  Месяц назад +1

      Sometimes that can be caused by a "cold" solder joint where one of the two components or one part of the piece (if it is being soldered to itself like a band), does not quite reach the flow point of your solder. It looks like a good solder joint, but one side hasn't really adhered, so with some torquing or bending, the solder pops loose from the side that didn't quite get hot enough. What sort of torch are you using Casie?

      @@chadssilversmithing I did finally get it to work, but i’m using the Blazer Big Shot. Likely user error with the heat play. Thank you for your response!
