just a tip. divide the battery consumption reading osd by the battery charge reading and multiple it with the current scale factor to get the new scaling factor for proper current readings
I get an hour out of my pusher super efficient balsa, 5000mah 3s batt so 3700mah useable Liion packs. But it can cruise on 3-4 amp draw total. You may get an hour if you ride the thermals, but its too heavy on amps, and 3000mah is not enough. Also as said below, a couple of calibration flights are needed so the amp meter on the FC is accurate, so the OSD shows what the charger put back in after the flight.
Great video for really long missions you don't just have to account for the motor power because especially for smaller crafts the percentage of battery used by the FC and VTX can be much larger than you think ! For example if the motor draws around 1,5A @ 11,1v for level flight that's around 16,6w The o3 air unit uses around 1,7-1,8A @9v so 15w + any other components There for nearly HALF of your 32wh are just used for the vtx !! for larger carats that's not so relevant any more but generally something to keep in mind *I know that you are using the walk snail system but I don't know the power usage of that but it should be similar
Could you provide an Ardupilot parameter list dump? I'm trying to configure the PNP version (without fc) and the Manta is shaking in quad mode. Motor rotation and props are ok. It could be something like the motor order or frame_type . Thanks
Besides no fpv running there's ideal elements and steady flight with minimal servo use. Yah the advertised flight time is claimed before any additions of fpv gear as standard equipment. A smart move for long range of flight time devices is having a seperate battery for flight controls so engines off landings can be done. Old Eagle Tree days.
What is your opinion on using the FIMI Manta as a drone for orthophotography? Is there a gimbal to put on it? I'm in awe of his flying ability. As I'm from the Georeferencing area, I keep imagining the wonders it could perform... Fimi says it's compatible with gimbal 21 Pro, however, I've never seen where to get it, nor have I tested it. My hope is that it will be possible to use it with the FIMI x8 PRO camera.
Was it perhaps drifting backwards because voltage was so low the single tail motor couldn’t keep its power up sufficiently to compensate for the two front motors? At 41 minutes I doubt you’d make it to an hour even without VTOL mode, but for something that small it’s still pretty impressive.
Nive video i have a fimi manta coming from the company in about a week. What battery did you use and did it fit the battery compartment ok. Can you post a link to those batterys.
This is a question I've been asked a lot recently. The HeeWing T1 VTOL is undoubtedly a much better quality aircraft, with better flight time and better flight characteristics/stability. The Manta on the other hand is a bit cheap, a bit rough and a bit erratic to fly, and yet.........for some reason it's way more fun 😂 I'm really enjoying the Manta
@@gizfpv ive wanted to get the heewing for a while and when the manta popped i started considering it. .... the heewing is still my preferred choice. Thanks again for the great content ! Great channel
3S? That's interesting, I wouldn't think it would even take off on 3S - mine's still on the slow boat, but I slapped together a 21700 4S pack for it while waiting. Overkill? Oopsies.
Going 2.5V on a Liion battery is a NO,NO and NO! Many Liion battery will cut off from 2.8 to 2.5V, some even cut at 3.0V. Yes, your motors probably didn't had enough juice to feed them to vtol.
Depends what you're looking for. If you want something that's a bit cheap and naff but lots of fun, get the Manta :D But if you want something with great build quality, very stable flight and better performance get the T1 :)
the area you are flying is stunning. i always remember that cliff thingy. bloody fantastic flight.
Awesome flying and testing, dude! Thanks! 😃
That's not bad of a flight time! At all!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you for rhis video, please more video fimi manta, very cool

I was wondering how you would compare this to the Heewing Vtol in terms of fun factor for flying.

You get one of those Mauch current sensors. Extreme quality and comes with offset numbers for that particular unit.
I recently purchased and would love to know what I need with the pnp to have FPV using Integra dji goggles. Links would be really helpful

Have you got Instagram? Drop me a message on there and I'll see what I can to help 😊
Love to hear your comments re: Manta VTOL vs Heewing T1 Ranger VTOL - thanks...
Nice video! I got mine recently but I get about 15min flight and that's all, and I'm very easy with the throttle any thoughts?
Where is your spectacular flying site? New Zeeland? Australia? UK?
Hi, in this test do you connect the VTX directly to the battery? or did you use a regulator!! thanks.

What camera are you using? And if it is Caddx, how do you get the OSD with the recorded video?
Nice review man.. Show how you attract the camera.

Which one do you prefer, Fimi manta or Heewing T1 Vtol?...

Is the 1430mAh correct? which means there is still over half of the capacity of the battery left.
The current (sensor) reading is wrong (not properly calibrated) hence the mAh reading is off too.

best plane ever.
fimi hype! go go fimi!
Can the esc and motor run on 4s ?
Apparently so yes. Not tried it myself, but have been told by multiple sources that 4s works fine
@@gizfpv cool thanks
@@gizfpv great will try inav7 beta on it
I bet if you let it circle in loiter it will fly for longer
I don't think so, in loiter the aircraft uses more throttle
Should be able to hit an hour. I was getting 40 mins on my Diatone Ripper with a 6s 1300 lipo. Not even a liion pack

FIMI must be using DJI's endurance metrics. Dodgy.
well 40min ok
I could not sit there and fly in 1 spot for 1 hour… thanks for torturing yourself for testing
Say brother, is this bird worth it as opposed to t1 vtol?

@gizfpv ...that'll work my brother...what fc do you recommend for the t1? Seems the pnp fc has issues from reading rcgroups...thank you sir !!
