Yep, this laptop was also new for me! I thought it needs a heat gun to open this screen, but there no heat gun needed...
If you have so much years of experience, I am sure you will do that even better than me. Everything I can provide to you is same as in this video. I almost forgot how I did it :)
So, I hope you will be able to fix this one!
    Have a good luck!

Hello, First of all thanks a lot for the great videos. i have a studio xps 1640 and recently when i open the lid my display start to flickering horizontally and also vertically. nowadays it is so hard to see anything and just i can use my laptop by connecting to the monitor. i gave it to the laptop service but they couldn't recognize what's the problem. they told display and cable is healthy so i don't know what's wrong. I would be glad to know your idea and also your experience about it.

@0.41 Seems you are missing the second part of the heat sink. I have a question on that. What are the 5 greenish pads around the centre heat sink? (above/first plate) In my PC they are kind of disintegrated now so had to remove (gluey, powderily) Are they heat pads? Should I replace them with normal thermal grease or with nothing? Please help. Thank you so much for this informative video. Bless you!

Good morning, I would say it is probably some sort of thermal silicon pads that you need to replace because I doubt you could get as much of cooling paste there. You can either buy it on eBay or maybe some repair shops have it. Can't say about thickness of it. It is similar to pad that on some laptops being used to cool off memory etc. Good luck with you project and thank you for watching my video.

optical swallowed DVD and SD card got swallowed in SD slot?
In order to get DVD you need to carefully unscrew optical drive and pull out a dvd out of there.
And I do not know, never had one before swallowed SD card....

Hi. I am having difficulty disassembling the display. How do I get the screen off? Need more detailed information. I have already used a knife to unclip the screen. This is where I am stuck. Not sure if it is helpful, but I am trying to replace the inverter. Thanks.

I would say 4 things can be a problem Cable LCD video card and virus :)
If it is not flickering on external screen, more likely lcd or cable...

I have a Dell Studio XPS laptop running windows 7 and I have a 2.5"x9mm Toshiba MK5056GSYF SATA, 7200 rpm HD, will a Sata 3 SSD drive connect to this SATA connection? Thanks

Only if you have windows 8 on your PC not 7. That is very important since the physical ports on your motherboard change depending on the OS that is on your HDD.
