I'm Jamaican and I've never ever tried jollof rice ever before. I've just finished cooking and following step by step from this video. I'm hoping it tastes amazing as it smells soo good. a definite thumbs up from me👍
Jollof rice is lovely when cooked by Africans, its like rice and peas, nobody does it better than a jamaican. Nobody does jollof better than the Africans.
Tried this recipe but I put the thyme and seasoning after I poured the red sauce and I added 2 chicken knore cubes and 1 beef knorr stock cube, tasted absolutely delicious.
I tried making jollof uing basmati for the first time, thinking only Ghanaians use it for jollof and thanks to this video it came out wonderfully. I'm now a convert.
Made this rice last night following the steps (minus the pepper :), it was delicious! and less work than how I normally make Jollof rice. thanks for sharing
I've been begging my husband to teach me how to make this. It's my favorite dish. Your directions are easy to follow. I will show him 😏. Thank you for this video.
you're welcome. Please shoot more videos please please. one last question please, how could i make the beef and chicken stock? could you explain to me how to do that? thanks
+Yummieliciouz Food Recipes than you so much. so i have tried your recipe ( didn't put the stock) and my rice has a bitter taste . every time that i try to cook tomato rice it always ended being bitter. do you know what should i do please?
+cosette love The only thing I think can cause the taste could be the type of pepper used or too much onions in the sauce. Here is a link on how to blend the sauce. ruclips.net/video/5TPvd2tnlTg/видео.html The liquid stock also makes a big difference, please try to include it when next you plan to cook Jollof rice. Thanks.
Cant wait to try this 😊. But I would like to know is it a must that I have to use bay leaf and the assorted chicken and beef stock you made?. Or is that optional
I am excite, 😉😊😊 now i out a bit Cryfish in it. Will See and Taste. But i really prefere your Style, all was Perfect and sooooooo tasty 🙏👏😉 thank You again best jollof Rice ever ❤️👍
Hi there!!!Am Kenyan and I have always wondered wat Jallof rice tastes like lol..So I used ur recipie and it came out looking just like urs but not sure abt the taste😆.Ty for the recipie👍👌
+Rii Elizabeth Depending on how you organise your cooking and the type of cooker you are using, I would say roughly 45mins - 1hrs cooking time from start to finish. Thanks :)
dear Yummilicious.....can yu kindly post a video of how to cook Ata dindin fried stew ?...or made with fish or sardines like the one served with bread at our naming ceremonies. Thank yu so much !!
+John Dunni Hi, nice to hear from you again. I already have a video similar to your request however I used mackerel instead of sardines. I have another one coming up soon, will update you once it is uploaded. Meanwhile you can click on the link below to watch fried stew with mackerel . Have a nice weekend. ruclips.net/video/F-KF3lK7Qlo/видео.html
+Rii Elizabeth Hi, it is alright to use beef stock pot as an alternative, however I will still recommend the beef/chicken liquid stock because it adds a unique taste and nutrient to the jollof rice. Thanks:)
Damn! I have to cook this. In Portugal we eat a lot of tomato rice which is somehow similar without the curry and the chicken/beef stock. When I was in Japan I learned to do japanese omrice which is one of my favourite and I am 100% positive that this jollof rice will be a great filling for omrice.
Hy ☺️👍👏 thank u so much for sharing. Wonderfull advice and My Kolloggs Rice was Perfect, the Rice so locker Even also the Taste. Only My Husband told me Cryfish was missing???? If i alte these from my Afrikaner Friends i never Taste Cryfish in These? Pls can u help me? Did i made a mistake? Cryfish in jollof Rice? Thanks in Advance 👍❤️ i love your style totally
Hi Sabine, thank you for trying out the recipe. No you did not make a mistake, it is optional to add crayfish. You can always customise it to your own taste. If your husband likes crayfish you can include it when next you are cooking Jollof rice, add some ground crayfish or prawns when adding the other seasoning. Hope this help. Thanks.
Hi, let your pepper sauce cook on medium heat until it is cooked, then add the rice and reduce to low heat until the rice is tender. Hope this helps. Thanks.
The last "taste the rice to see if it's done" after you have mixed it evenly? What if it is not yet done and it's mixed already? I recommend tasting the rice to see if it's done before mixing.
Hi, either way is fine. If the Jollof rice is not tender as preferred after mixing, it can be left to steam cook on very low heat until the preferred texture is achieved. Either method would not affect the outcome of the Jollof rice. Thank you for your suggestion :)
+Rii Elizabeth Hi, just to clarify. Were you asking about the liquid stock or knorr stock cube? If you were asking about the liquid stock here is the link on how to make it at home ruclips.net/video/AIJ2e0HM5d4/видео.html however it can be made out of beef only or chicken only or the combination of the two. About the stock cube I used knorr stock cube, however you can use any stock cube of your choice. Hope this helps :)
@davina anjilina. It is optional. I have tried cooking with and without both the bay leaf and the assorted chicken and beef stock, personally I prefer to include both ingredients because it gives the Jollof rice a special flavour and taste. However you can try to customise it to your taste to see what works well for you. Thanks:)
+Elyas247 I'm Caribbean and one the most confusing things for me was why the Nigerian recipe was par boil then the sauce added. Just seems a little more hard work. I normally rinse the starch out at the beginning of the process and it has the same result

Hi, no I did not cook the rice separately. I rinsed the rice several times to get rid of excess starch then poured it into the sauce. Please watch the video starting from 2.52 secs for better understanding. Thanks.

Jollof rice is lovely when cooked by Africans, its like rice and peas, nobody does it better than a jamaican. Nobody does jollof better than the Africans.

It's nice to see that you don't have to make a fried Jollof sauce to make Jollof rice.
Thanks.

Hi, thank you. Please see the list of ingredients used in the description box below the video. Thanks.
thanks for your respnse...do I hv to boil the pepper mix with slow cooking for long because that sees to be my problem...pepper never reallydone
Hi, let your pepper sauce cook on medium heat until it is cooked, then add the rice and reduce to low heat until the rice is tender. Hope this helps. Thanks.
I see how naija people make their jollof rice interesting

Hello was the rice parboiled?
Dee Victor Hi, the rice was rinsed not parboiled. Thanks for watching.
Did you parboil the rice before adding it in the sauce or not? Thanks
Deborah Enehizena No, I didn’t parboil the rice I just rinsed it. Thanks.
@@YummieliciouzFoodRecipes ok thanks so much
Can I use any type of rice, because i don't know where to get that rice
Alright thank you, where can I get the liquid one from dear ?
+Rii Elizabeth Hi, just to clarify. Were you asking about the liquid stock or knorr stock cube? If you were asking about the liquid stock here is the link on how to make it at home ruclips.net/video/AIJ2e0HM5d4/видео.html however it can be made out of beef only or chicken only or the combination of the two. About the stock cube I used knorr stock cube, however you can use any stock cube of your choice. Hope this helps :)
can I use only tomatoes past for this or steam tomatoes
When You measured the cup sizes for the Rice, Did you use a Uk Cup Measurement or US Cup Measurement?
Simon Zion a I'm pretty sure a cup in the UK is the same as a cup in the US and any other country
Mazza Apparel It's different. UK follows The metric measurements, US follows imperial measurements
hey there good recepies... but please what the name f the song in the feedback?
+Sandra Kuevidjin Hi, check out the description box below for the link to the song. Thanks :)
@davina anjilina. It is optional. I have tried cooking with and without both the bay leaf and the assorted chicken and beef stock, personally I prefer to include both ingredients because it gives the Jollof rice a special flavour and taste. However you can try to customise it to your taste to see what works well for you. Thanks:)
Was the rice you rinsed in raw? Or did you parboil it?
+TheElyas247 Hi, I rinsed the raw rice. Thanks :)
+Elyas247 I'm Caribbean and one the most confusing things for me was why the Nigerian recipe was par boil then the sauce added. Just seems a little more hard work. I normally rinse the starch out at the beginning of the process and it has the same result
Hi, I believe the reason why some people parboil their rice is because it gets rid of more excess starch compared to when rinsed before cooking. However in my opinion I get the same result with either method.
mbenguia
Do you have to use foil because I don't have any , I've been cooking the rice for over 40 minutes and its still hard ?
Jill Bowden The reason for using foil paper is to retain all the heat in the pot which quickens the cooking process. You can use parchment/baking paper instead. Thanks for watching.
My wife's shocked I can cook jellof rice.
Shhhhhh! Thanks 'whispering' 😉
*Whispering* WELL DONE. Thank you for trying out the recipe :)
What is the stuff he puts in just after the bay leaf

@ santanu
do u have a recipe that uses jasmine rice?
Hi Michelle, no not yet.
Hi Michelle. Old comment, but I've done this twice so far with Jasmine rice. It is so delicious. I'll be doing it a third time this weekend.
I know this is a strange question but what's type of pot is that? Were did u get it?
Hi Oyinade, the type of pot I used in the video is an aluminium pot. I can't remember the store I purchased it from because it was a while ago. However you do not need to use the exact pot you can also use a stainless steel pot. Thanks :)
is the foil paper a must?
Hi, the foil is not a must, it just helps to retain the heat in the pot so the jollof rice gets ready faster. Thanks.
did you cook the rice separately???
Hi, no I did not cook the rice separately. I rinsed the rice several times to get rid of excess starch then poured it into the sauce. Please watch the video starting from 2.52 secs for better understanding. Thanks.
