You can tell in the exact moment she starts singing, she becomes Ariel. He eyes and hair and facial expressions says it all. It's glad to see after 3 Little Mermaid movies she can still do it! Love you Jodie!
Jess Fae I think that also has to do with the fact that she was a Broadway performer before voicing Ariel. She said she had a problem giving the character emotion when voicing at first.
I second the previous comment. As a cartoon/animation, she cannot be replaced. However, I truly believe that if taking "childhood" and "originality" away... Halle's version brings more connection to the song and really make you believe she is really feeling what she is singing.
@@th3ch3ss Well, I think jodi better expresses Ariel’s curiosity and sense of youth🤔Halle’s version makes me feel like she has been through a lot.But of course both Jodi and Halle sing soooo well.

There's a sweet story about Ilene Woods who voiced Cinderella, as when she went to the premiere with her family her daughter would point at Cinderella on the screen and say "That's my mummy!" and an older lady, not knowing who the little girl, was remarked to her friend, "Isn't that sweet, that little girl thinks Cinderella is her mother!" and she really was :)
my grandma (on my mom's mom) used to love it when my cousins and I would sing this song to her. We were so shy when we were young so it was like pulling teeth to get us to do it! Years later, she started getting pretty sick. She knew she didn't have long, so she made a trip out to see me and my family (we got as much family on my mom's side as possible to come out too. they live in B.C. and Manitoba. we live in Saskatchewan.) And we went out to our local bar, drank, and sang karaoke. We sang this song for her on the way home from the bar, lol. It was a happy, wonderful memory that I will always treasure and I have a feeling she did too. With that in mind, this song always made my eyes sting with a bit of happy tears, even though it's been a few years now since she passed. Love and miss you always, Grandma.
I’m know it’s hard right now but you’ll be reunited with her one day. And she’ll show you the treasure trove of heaven with more dingle hopper thing a mabobs than you could ever imagine. Up where she walks. Up she’s run. Her halo glistening all day in the sun. You’ll both be free and again she’ll be...part of your world.

Up where they walk/ Up where they run/ Up where they stay all day in the sun/ When I was young...this song made me realize I was lucky to be able do such things... That I needed to get out of the house more and take advantage of beautiful days...and the ability to walk and to run for these are gifts not all people have. and of course Mrs. Benson's BEAUTIFUL voice punctuates it's perfectly.
*This performance captures exactly the difference between "singing" and "voice acting".* at that moments she's not Jodi Benson- she's 100% Ariel. you can see it by her movements, facial expressions..you can see it only by looking into her eyes! she has so many respect for her character that I find it completely impossible to not respect her. even if she wasn't good as she used to be (and she definitely was as good).
I love both version of the song. They both have beautiful voice. But when I hear Jodi's voice it brings back childhood memories. 🥲 I will definitely support both versions of the movies. 👏🏽😊

1 - You can tell she is really singing and not lip syncing.
2 - I just now realized that Ariel only had one song during the movie. Strange.
Didn't realize that until I saw this comment! Too bad, she's amazing.
Jonathan Wright Probably that is because in the most scenes of cartoon Ariel wasnt able to speak as she lost her voice to that villain.
Jonathan Wright She had another song called "One Dance" But it was removed
Alexis Hitcher
On the wiki page for the soundtrack it says she reprises "Part of this World", so maybe she has the same song twice?
Jonathan Wright she does it happens after she rescues Eric

BEAUTIFUL. This was seriously amazing. And Jodi is so gorgeous.
Teary eyed here. This is one of my favorite Disney songs ever. It's just so perfect, the way she sang it. 💛
She is the best for this no doubt
Nearly 25 years later and she still sounds very much the same! Love it.
She lives in my town. I've actually had her come through my checkout lane at Publix. Bizarre.
Where is your hometown
can i be you then
Sweet!!!!
Lucky!!
That's soooooo interesting to watch
You're not
danielxmiller yeah!!!!
Best Ariel ever. Thanks for making my childhood character come to life. ,❤
Up where they walk/
Up where they run/
Up where they stay all day in the sun/
When I was young...this song made me realize I was lucky to be able do such things...
That I needed to get out of the house more and take advantage of beautiful days...and the ability to walk and to run for these are gifts not all people have.
and of course Mrs. Benson's BEAUTIFUL voice punctuates it's perfectly.
It does give you such a positive look on life and the great gifts it gives you 🙏🏻
That we take for granted
*This performance captures exactly the difference between "singing" and "voice acting".*
at that moments she's not Jodi Benson- she's 100% Ariel. you can see it by her movements, facial expressions..you can see it only by looking into her eyes!
she has so many respect for her character that I find it completely impossible to not respect her. even if she wasn't good as she used to be (and she definitely was as good).
she is beautiful.....her voice too. she is true princess
I love both version of the song. They both have beautiful voice. But when I hear Jodi's voice it brings back childhood memories. 🥲 I will definitely support both versions of the movies. 👏🏽😊
Beautiful eyes and AWESOME gown!

Omg . Such a pretty gown!
I know right?
yeah
uh do you mean dress?
God shes beautiful and so talented! I love her!
This song is so beautiful and Jodi does such an amazing job with it. Oh, how I wish they'd still write like this.
it’s been 30 years and she’s still got it. wow😍
Her voice is incredible omg. After all these years too!
1:19 to 1:21 I love how she sang the part "What dyou call them.." and someone shouted "feet!" 😍😍😍
*actually I love how people interacts with her 😍
but I didn't hear anybody shouting "feet".
Shandana khan Sadiq mohmand no but you can see her pointing to someone and smiling
+Shandana khan Sadiq mohmand you could actually hear it if you pay a closer attention between those lines
DJsLps yes...I saw her pointing... But didn't hear any body shouting
I love Jodi! She's my fave Disney voice actress!
She even has the same smile as Ariel. Wow, what a performance!
Yes!!!
