    Nice video. I´ve got mine two days ago and I didn't expect to put it on such demanding work as I just did. You are completely right about the anti-kickback feature: it does limit a lot of its ability to cut larger logs or branches. I'm also about to extract mine. Overall it's a small giant. Happy with the purchase.

    Great review Russell, very impressive. A few back cuts in first would stop the branches splitting on you. Take a rest and have a cold beer, you deserve it.

    Great review, thanks. If you were knackered after using up a 1.5mah battery, then my 2.5mah battery should last me days :)

    Mille mercis for your video. I've discovered that the packaging of the chain fitted quite perfectly to maintain the body of the chainsaw during the assembly. Is it a coincidence ? I don't know, but I do have pictures to prove it !
    Many thanks from France 😀

    Hello, thanks for great review. I just bought that chainsaw do to some pruning, got fed up with using manual saws all the time. Got it on sale for a great price with free 2.5 Ah battery and charger. Since I never used a chainsaw before, I'm not sure if oiling is working properly on mine. I got a bottle of oil included, filled the reservoir and did couple of test cuts. All seams to be working fine, but the chain looks dry to me, I don't see any oil or feel it on my finger when I run it on chain. I also tried running the saw close to cardboard as mentioned in manual, but didn't get any oil spray visible.

    Does better than I would have expected from a cordless, especially the diameters. Looks like you've got quite an estate there, no wonder you don't want corded.
    I wonder if the tip guard is really to stop plunge cuts which might overload the motor.
    You're right some will use it one handed.

      I am impressed with the saw's performance Emma. I used it one handed a couple of times myself! :-)

    What a GREAT demo. I too have a Bosch Drill Driver with two 18 V batteries, so I was hoping Bosch made a mini chainsaw. I am a 5 foot or 152.4 centimetre woman, would the mini chain saw be light enough for me to handle? Thanks ...

    One more question, you removed the safety tip, but I noticed other brands of Mini chainsaws have a totally different safety system... Would you mind commenting on the over all safety of the Bosch Mini Chainsaw with that unusual restrictive safety tip you removed ? .... Thanks

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  9 месяцев назад +3

      The safety feature is there for a reason and prevents kick back. But, it also restricts the cutting capacity and overall versatility of the saw. If you remove it you are removing a safety feature.
      I have used chainsaws a lot over the years and have been on the receiving end of kickback using a 16" petrol chainsaw. I needed 13 stitches to my head and was very lucky as it did not pierce my skull. This saw has a slow chain speed and stops very quickly when the trigger is released and I was comfortable removing the tip. It does not have the normal breaking system which physically clamps the blade in the event of a kick back. The tip completely prevents kickback, which is caused by the chain at the tip of the saw riding up the cut at high speed and throwing the saw back towards the operator. If you remove it you are adding more risk. I did it because I wanted the versatility, but you must make your own decision. :-)

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  2 года назад

      Mine has been stored on a shelf for a few weeks and there is a very small oil deposit on the shelf, less than a drop. I suspect that it was residue from the bar. :-)

    How do you take off the anti kickback feature?

    • @RussellPlatten
      @RussellPlatten  Год назад

      It is fixed on with rivets and you have to drill them out using a drill bit that is slightly wider than the rivets Ian. I ended up using a dremel with a grinding tool to finish removing them if I remember rightly. If you do too, make sure you clean the bar thoroughly before using. :-)
