    Financial Independence brings peace of mind. It allows you to be able to take care of life’s necessities such as bills, health care, groceries, etc without much worry. This is my own subjective view of it. It also gives you the opportunity to find what you feel is your purpose in life. For the majority of folks that I have talked to in the FI community, they still have a job that they enjoy working, or they’re volunteering for a cause they believe in. Purposefulness is very important and needs to be reiterated along the FI journey! Great video Daniel!

      Thanks, Billy Bob! And, yes, I think how you put it is a great way to view financial independence :)

    FI is ideal for those who continue to learn, don't want to deal with a supervisor or manager (including phoney coworkers and colleagues), and importantly, you just want your own time all the time...

    I appreciate this video. Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’d do post-FI, and honestly, I don’t know what I’d do! So I think I’m not going to be part of FIRE, but I am putting more hustle into my life now, so I can be less stressed later!

    • @NextLevelLife
      @NextLevelLife  Год назад +2

      Full on early retirement certainly isn't for everybody (though it also isn't the only potential path... some people implement several mini-retirements throughout life, for instance). I'm glad to hear that you're thinking ahead about it and formulating a plan to make the best of things by lowering your future stress levels, even if you don't ultimately end up participating in FIRE :)

    When I was a graduate student, the financial aid office told my class that we could “live like a student now or live like a student later”. The idea was that taking on debt, for school in this case, would have consequences. Debt warps our perception of economic reality and the distortion is hard to overcome.
    Becoming FI means to me that my lifestyle is not financed with debt. I don’t worry about much and I mostly get to choose what to worry about. I feel free.
    So I say to you: Don’t retire early from being useful and productive. The world needs you. Young people need to see you living an example of having discipline and being of service to others.
    I wish each of you the best. Have a productive 2023!

    Begin *homesteading*, which could mean NOT spending money on expensive housing/transport. Plus you learn about nature, DIY, gardening/animals, etc... You could become more independent on food, water and energy. Buy/rent a piece of agro/forest, build a warm shed and "expand" your knowledge and experience from there.

      I intend on being a permaculture/regenerative farmer once I’m FI. I plan on making all sorts of videos and documenting the journey all along the way. It’s funny that I want to be FI, but then plan to basically not need money at all because I’ll be living off the land!

    Here's my take, all jobs suck to varying degrees. Financial Independence gives you the ability and mobility to avoid especially terrible jobs if need be. It's a pain repellent, but that doesn't mean it'll bring happiness or contentment in and of itself.

    When you are FI and you get bored, play Warhammer, that way you have to get a job again.
