Great respect for your profound thoughts on the building blocks of national competitive advantages and the importance of a national education. India is an ex-colony but the colonisation of the Indian minds continues because of its educational system. This system creates Anglicised political, media and business demagogues. They embrace elitism and Western political culture indeed. This explains India's divisive politics and the alienation of the" ruling classes" from the "working classes"; similar to that in the Anglo-Saxon countries, in particular India's ex- colonial master, the UK. It's unfortunate. Indians are trapped in their British colonial past by its Anglicised educational system.
China first made sure everyone within its borders are educated and spoke a common language (an amazing feat for a country as huge and as diverse as China). We see stories of village kids in desolate areas walking miles to school in the middle of winter. China will still be the “next China”. The West can propagandize all they want. India is a frightful mess compared to China and will need half a century to fix, if they know the roadmap and they start now. (I’m Singaporean and have nothing against India.)
