One of the things I most appreciate about your videos is that you don't rush anything. You take the time to explain and teach it thoroughly, and I can't wait to try my first knit project now! You HAVE given me confidence!
I have been sewing most of my life and have never used a twin needle until now, after watching your video. What a game changer for hemming my t-shirts and I love that I can lock in the stitches, then cut with my Bernina too.Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you very much. I didn’t know not to backstitch with twin needles. I'm hemming an eyelet polyester dress for my sister and this video was exactly what I needed. Many thanks. Update, I finished the dress and it turned out nice. All your tips on threading the twin needles was perfect. Every day I learn more - thank you!
I just bought a sewing machine (during the pandemic) and watched a whole lot of youtube videos as i'm a total beginner. Your videos are always fun to watch and I learn so much. I was thinking about buying a twin needle and this video came up just in time. I just subscribed to your channel. I'm sure many other videos will come up that will teach me invaluable tricks. I'll go buy the twin needles today and will try this on a t-shirt. Yes, I'd like more videos using the twin needle. Until then, i'll watch back some other videos from your channel. Thank you Margaret and Lou.
Thanks so much Margaret. I have a T-shirt that could do with shortening, now I have the knowledge and confidence to tackle it. I have learned quite a few good tips from you, thank you.
I twist the seam allowances as well to eliminate the bulk, but instead of pinning, I use press on 1/4" wonder tape & press the hem in place before sewing...makes a neater hem & easier sewing...
Thankyou for clearly explaining I didnt know about the different foot I needed to use, wondered why it used to look like a raised tunnel on top of fabric
I stopped the video when you mentioned the special ball point pins. Went first to Amazon but I couldn't find any (almost unbelievably) with ball points, though hundreds of glass ball tops, and on ebay I only found one ad for ball point pins which sadly don't have glass heads, I ordered them anyway for the tips. Also liked the bit about moving the sideseam to face different ways, very clever :)
Great video thank you. When you have a 2cm hem where should my fabric be in relationship to the pressure foot? Thank you. X I will be using a walking foot on my machine.
Thanks for this informative video. Question: Do I use a "stretch" straight stitch when I use the twin needle to hem a t shirt, or just a regular straight stitch?
I have to agree with the majority of the comments regarding the camera work. I am a professional videographer and I wanted to give you some helpful pointers. I'm not sure what type of camera you're using if it's a SmartPhone but if it's just a normal video camera there is something called manual focus (yes I'm being sarcastic however I cannot get over how many people don't know that they can switch their camera to manual focus) and that is what you should be using when you are close in. I know that editing is extremely time-consuming but it would be a much better video If you wrote out some kind of shot list that your camera person could follow. Everytime you switch to a different topic or angle the camera should be paused, then allow the camera person to zoom-in get it in focus and then begin recording. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks very much for this video. What type of thread do you use in the bobbin? If you use woolly nylon, do you have any tips about winding it onto the bobbin? Cheers!
I need to clarify your threading of the needles. When you showed how on the second machine (basic one), did you say that both top threads are threaded the same way only that the left is threaded first and the right threaded on the right side of the twin needle? I have wanted to use a twin needle for years but I was told if I ever threaded it wrong, I would ruin my machine. Thanks
What is your favorite sewing machine? I want to purchase a good sewing machin. I already have a serger, cover stitch and my mother’s old kenmore sewing machine. I was very interested in the Juki f600. This is a big purchase and i know you have tried many machines. I would love your input.
Why does my stitching come undone? I was advised to use seraflock for the bobbin thread as it has more stretch. Also I keep getting missed stitches even after changing the needle. Any ideas?
I'd always use matching thread to fabric, so cotton for cotton and manmade for manmade, some machines are very fussy (like my elderly Bernina) and she will miss/break and otherwise rebel, if asked to use non matching thread
@@jesshothersall Thanks for the response. Do you stretch the fabric a little as you are sewing? The problem seems to arise when I am altering T-shirts as they are always too long? It doesn't seem to happen on other stretch or knit fabrics.
Nice video Margaret; I do have a question, How does this stitch do for stretching is it like a serger stitch ? With the zig-zag bobbin thread on the back I can tell it has some ability to stretch.
I hope you don’t mind, the index ring is distracting, draws the eyes away from what you are showing. Camera person needs to hold steady. Its a pretty ring though.
I love that you share good information. I'm saddened to thumbs down on you today; the camera work was grainy and moving around WAY TOO Much. . .I got a headache and had to stop watching. :-/

How do you identify the bottom of the thread spool?

Hi Lori
I forgot to mention, it seems the video is 1080p but it doesn't look HD and the image is smaller.
Thank you for the feedback, it was a technical error on my part. I will get better next time - Katie :)
Do you need to bobbin

Hi

Yes it does stretch, I've used it on polo shirt bottoms, don't pull fabric at all, as that can make it wavy :)
I have the same machine which is the satin stitch foot? I can't find that at all?

Is it necessary to tie it off at the end like you did? I couldn't really see how you did it. Some people say to back stitch and others say don't.
She said don't backstitch when using twin needles?
Great tips as usual, so well explained, but the camera work (vertigo inducing). So I’m just listening.
