We’ve spent our last 6 winters in Tucson area. We always loved AZ but easily decided on Tucson area over Phoenix/Scottsdale area because of 4 primary reasons: close in mountains, higher elevation, lower cost of living, and 1million people vs 5 million. We can go from north end Tortolita mountain area to south end airport in 35 minutes in “rush hour” traffic. Golf is great. Community is full of retirees from all over the country, but mixed with families making it the most welcoming and connecting community we have ever experienced. Tucson is a big-small town or a small-big city. We are always anxious to return in the fall and never ready to leave in the spring. The weather is the best 9 months of the year: if you like humid, stay away; or sunshine, stay away; or cool evenings, stay away; or beautiful sunsets, stay away; or beautiful desert flowering that is amazing, stay away; or big city life, stay away.
Meant small town of course
Thanks so much about your kind words and great feedback about our beautiful city and my hometown! I love it here for all the reasons you named. I love the diversity of all the people here (including the retirees from literally EVERYWHERE), and yet we somehow end up with a small town, personal, very local feel… how is it possible? ☺️ I love meeting people who love this place as much as I do
How about the politics?
Some people might disagree with me on this and different areas of town are of course different from one another, but i feel that in general the city of Tucson leans a little more liberal although there are some surrounding suburbs/unincorporated areas that tend to lean more conservative. Feel free to contact me for more information. All my contact information is in the description below each video on the RUclips channel.
I moved here from my native Chicago in 1987, where I taught public school for over 30 years. I retired here for the reason I moved here - the small town feel within a relatively large greater metropolitan area. I can't imagine another place I'd rather be living in as a retiree.
Such kind words! I’m so happy you like it here! We have a lot of people in Tucson who are from Chicago, so a lot of our restaurants and food are Chicago-themed. That’s a cool city too. Thanks for the view and comment! Have a great week!
Alaska is our summer/fall home and Tucson is our winter/spring home. I love the laid back feel of Tucson vs Phoenix. So much culture!
Sounds like the perfect combination of homes! I’m sure Alaska is lovely during that time of year! Thanks so much for the view and comment!
Perfect retirment Place. No traffic and peacful quiet,
I ♥️ it! 🌵🌵🌵

I worry about available water. Sounds like that is becoming a huge problem for the SW although a couple realtors told me a couple years ago that AZ supposedly is sitting on underground aquaphors. Is that really true and if it is how come no one ever talks about them???
Thanks for the comment! I’m actually going to do a video about Tucson water because it is a question I get asked often. From what I understand, about 40% of Arizona water comes from groundwater and about 40% comes from the Colorado River. The rest comes from river water inside the state, and we actually have quite a few water recycling/reclaimed water programs. I look forward to talking about this subject in more detail in future videos. Thank you for the view and comment!
The Tucson aquifer was contaminated decades ago when a company started dumping
trichloroethylene (TCE) down an old well possibly to save disposal fees. The plume of TCE has contaminated from south of the airport along the Santa Cruz river, and since the early 60s to now has gone passed Marana. It also flowed a ways eastward, but so far wells on the Eastside of Tucson have yet to be affected. There is a cancer cluster for people living along the plume where wells were before the CAP, (Central Arizona Project) reached Tucson.
The old Tucson water was extremely good. Second only the NYC water .
Awe, the old days.
EXACTLY..THERE IS A PROBLEM! 👍🏽
I will be a new resident in Marana by July
Very cool! Welcome to the Tucson area! It will be hot that time of year, but by October you’ll be loving the weather 😁
@@TucsonArizona i tolerate heat well. Im a hiker and backpacker. Im hike Mt. Lemmon 2 years ago just was Sabina sra, a month ago. I love the area. Im single and retiring.
Perfect! Tucson will be happy to have you!
with all of the growth in Tucson, how long before it no longer feels like a small big city and more like Phoenix? traffic, hustle and bustle, etc..
Tucson is still probably at least 1/5 the size of Phoenix, if not smaller. Tucson, as a city is pretty much done growing, but the suburbs are still expanding outward. I feel like each of the different suburbs of Tucson are very different from one another and very separate. I feel that Tucson and Phoenix have very different vibes from one another. But that’s just my opinion as someone who has lived in Arizona for over 40 years and has watched both cities change overtime
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much for your view and comment!
How about video on 55 plus mobile home communities
Great idea! I actually have a video in the works for active adult communities in Tucson! Stay tuned! 😊 Thanks so much for the view and comment, and have a great day!
U of A grad from '94...finishing up a 30+ year career as an educator. Would love for you to help us find a condo in the Catalina Foothills somewhere near Sunrise/Campbell area in 3-4 years.
Very cool! We have a lot of great condo options in the foothills and in that area in particular. Feel free to reach out to me anytime!
I was hoping to learn about social services for elders.
Thank you for the view and comment. I could add that to my list for videos to make! ❤️
This is something I think about all winter long. 😂
Haha yes we have great winters here. It gets a little chilly...and by that I mean it occasionally hits 32 degrees! LOL! Thanks for the view and comment!
Forgot to mention that Pima County property taxes are the highest in the state
Yes, you’re right, Arizona as a state has a much lower property tax rate than the US average, although Pima county property tax rate is right about in line with the national average. Thanks for the view and comment! Have a great day!
looking to retire here cfc
Tucson would be lucky to have you, Jerry!
63 yo looking to retire at 66..Single and tired of living in the cold east coast NY area..What are current rents for 1/2 bedroom?..Job market ok?..Would love to move out asap..Looks like a great area and community..especially for myself who loves cycling/mt biking..
Reach out to me and we can go over specifics. I’m not really sure what it would cost to rent out a bedroom but I know that houses are renting for $1400 to $3000/mo depending on the areas in the size of the houses. For job market. It depends on what type of field you’re in; Tucson is not known as being a high wage city. But we are definitely known for cycling in mountain biking that’s for sure!
@@TucsonArizona
I will..This coming week..Thanks..
Sounds great thank you!
I vacationed in Tucson, I loved it so much I'm going to retire there
So glad to hear this! Active adults love retiring here! We have a LOT To do around here as far as outdoors, theaters, and organized activities. When you move here, I would love to help you out if you decide to purchase real estate. Thanks for the view and comment!
Only the winter is good maybe even the fall I. Tucson. The census indicates from the people in Tucson it's not only safe but not good for retirees. I elderly couple said they would not return to Tucson, that's sad. The city is being investigated for allowing snow birds to stay & PAY rent in advance so they can return.. while this poor elderly woman is homeless & is a citizen. She was born in Tucson. What a shame, city would do anything to get monies. WE think we need a new mayor who thinks she can take a seat in Congress. Romero does have a reputation living with a cartel. Her husband has a bit of reputation also. AP reporter confirmed this. Our votes didn't count when Grijalva' endorsed her! So sad what people would do. She's a corrupted Democrat. Now there's proof! Wow! 😯
🧐If ur talking about Phoenix just say that🤣🤣
Thanks for the view and comment! I appreciate you visiting the channel! ❤️
Ur welcome🥰
I hate that there's videos like this. Snow birds and the retired destroy the livability of areas in Tucson. Literally, go down Ina and you'll encounter the dreaded "Wall of Old". Where the elderly are so desperate to keep their license they all match the driver's around them speed to such an egregious amount that when they meet up with each other they can go 15 below the speed limit.
The streets become clogged during the winter.
And being in the service industry for 10 years ... the elderly are the most abusive expectant and entitled people. I even say that BECAUSE OF THE CUSTOMERS and the no defense from them by your employer retail/service jobs should be illegal.
Please... please don't encourage more elderly to come here. They destroy this beautiful city.
