This is from my Rowland Pittard collection, I've indicated the locations wherever possible. More to come in part two next time.
The last shots with the 37 climbing Stormy Bank are awesome... 👍
fanatstic footage Mike, its such a shame that your videos & any other footage of british industry from back in the day is just memories
Growing up in Maesteg lots of memories. One question…was Rolland Pittard the schoolteacher?
Yes, I'm sure he was. I've knew him for over 20 years and we only talked about railways !!
@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways I’ve had a look online. He was a geography teacher in Maesteg. One question. How do you get ahead of a moving train to film it in different locations?
Knowing the short cuts, by road, in the area. Especially in the Valleys. I've lived in the area since 1976 and know it pretty well.
Any footage available for Cwmaman/ Aberdare & Aberaman?
They must be somewhere, buy back in the 1980/90s I didn't record all the details on the 100s of 3 hour VHS tapes. That,s why it,s taking so long to edit and download these old clips.
Does that River Nearh viaduct still get used for taking freight off the main line?
