LOL, the music in the intro is so on point. Apparently I am not the only one feeling that Festool tools are sexy. Thank you for making me laugh out loud.

Dust extraction looks better and the plunge sounds a better deal. In my mind 2 things missing a light and a battery would make it the perfect machine.
When they do them things I’ll buy one. For now I’ll stick to my 18v dewalt and my of1400. Another great review from you👍

Got my 1010 R yesterday (and the equally fantastic TS60K), replacing my 20 year old Dewalt router and circular saw. Absolutely love ‘m; its like switching from a VW Golf to a Porsche 911 😂

I have the old OF 1010, and I like it. Yes, the new version has some advantages, but not worth changing for. If I am going to change the OF1010 for something else, it will be the Mafell OF55. This has much more advantages, mainly the tool-less router change. It is not much more expensive than the OF010. But, there are several things that have a higher priority to change.

I agree, not worth upgrading if you already have one

Excelled review, and even though I agree that I don't "need" to buy the new one, I still want one! 😜

The reason that they changed the dust extraction port is that they have introduced a bayonet connection so that the suction hose doesn't fall off as easily.

You missed one advantage of the new 1010 R over the original-the larger access on the side makes changing router bits quicker and easier. Also the new dust collection port allows the use of the smaller an larger dust collection hoses. For me the biggest is the smoother plunge. I use this router with the LR32 system, and the improved dust collection along with the smoother plugs was worth the upgrade. Cheers

It appears that they've ironed out all the creases such as the sticky plunge you have to over tighten to keep at depth; the micro adjustment that has a tendancy to move on its own; the dust extraction connection that doesn't extract large chips efficiently and allows the hose to fall off too easily. But as you say not worth buying if you have the old model. I have the Bosch 1250 lce which I think is much better but still use the Festool a lot more.

Cannot believe that they didn’t think to put a light on the new model! That would be the first thing and the most important upgrade to do!! Unbelievable festool! I’ve owned the original 1010 for about 12 years and use it every other day and it’s been fantastic. Just lacks a light ! 🙄

Totally agree a light would have made me buy one maybe…i’ve had the of 1400 and its great but i’m looking for a smaller router with batteries and a light this isn’t it unfortunately. next year they’ll bring out a tooless bit change and a light like the mafell so Ill wait to see which is best.

new one! one simple reason, the bloody metal oval hose destroying extraction! and now fits both sizes. The little tweeks are worth the switch though😜 perfection is perfection

I don’t have much experience with its predecessor, but the more I use this 1010 the more I love it, I love the way that when you turn it off blade switches itself off almost instantly
