Mama Maples was right, the first dress looked gorgeous on you! Surprisingly it was my favorite out of all of them. The royal blue color just made you pop. Congrats on almost hitting 4 million!
The selfie dress was expensive, but Mia is right it would make a gorgeous maternity dress! Like a maternity photo shoot with that dress in like rolling fields? I would totally splurge on it for something like that!
Yes!! I could definitely see people wearing those for maternity shoots! And for something so special, they're not too expensive, would only take a bit of saving
I checked their website and based on what I read I would assume the high price tag is due to them being a low-waste company which is great! They also have a gold WRAP certificate ( there are three levels: silver, gold and platinum. Oh and on the WRAP website it says: "WRAP-certified facilities are subject to random, unannounced post-certification assessments (PCAs) during their certification period" which I found also to be a good thing! ) which means they practice ethical business behaviours (decent working hours, no forced overtime and so on. Especially important considering they manufacture in China). So basically, if one is to spend money on an expensive dress, I would say Selkie is an alright place to be spending it :)

I was honestly disappointed with the minna dresses. The styles look was different on the mannequin vs on a body. I think the selkie dress was absolutely stunning! ❤ love your videos as always Mia! 🎉
True and i didnt understand why Mia didn’t think they were not off in several ways. The pink one had much more awkward draping on the bust part and the blue one had some blue parts sized a bit bigger then in the picture. I’m surprised so little people noticed/mentioned it
@Dani Dolphin Skokanová for sure. The pink one had much more space under the bottom/side ruching and the proportions were way off even considering the extreme waist proportions of the mannequins vs Mia
Exactly -- you have to have precisely the same proportions as the mannequin for those dresses, or everything just looks "off". And I don't think those proportions are real!
Mia’s dress try ons will always have a special place in my heart. She always looks stunning :). Also can we appreciate her hair and outfits in her videos? She always looks so aesthetic 😊. Love you Mia ❤
You know how there are just some people who radiate light and kindness? It’s Mia. I’m talking about Mia. And she literally looks so beautiful in everything.
Your comment on the colour tone of the bra cup on the light blue dress was my favourite part of the video. You're so right: it should come in other tones. Mia, you're so good at thinking of others.
MIA I would be sooooo happy if you kept making more dress videos!! Most people my age (ok ok, most people around *your* age) won’t ever have the chance to try on so many stunning dresses! I would love to continue to live vicariously though you and I know I’m not alone in saying that 😅 love you Mia !!
Selkie is empire-waisted (early Edwardian period), but the shorter dresses are babydoll length. The one you got is tea length :) Minna uses mannequins with padded hips and bust to help the tiny waist illusion. It's an old school trick from the Victorian era!
Empire is also very Regency and Italian Renaissance (which might be where Mia was getting Renaissance from 😂), and I think both era's were inspired by the ancient Greeks? Or Romans?
Just to mention it: Customs is only calculated and added once, by the destination country. It doesn’t matter how many countries it transited. But customs, as well as the additional taxes include shipment costs, and are very dependent on what it is and where it’s made. People are slightly “spoiled” due to certain mechanisms (distribution tricks etc.) some companies are able to use. Entertaining fun video as always! Best wishes ❤
Yes, this! It isn't on the company and from what I could calculate online, the amount paid is what would be expected based on the dresses' price, probably shipping costs and Canadian rules/laws around importing from countries outside of North America.
Selkie uses the “baby doll” style when they make dresses (baby doll meaning the skirt expands out from underneath the bust). Hope this helped and love your channel Mia!😊❤
@@sofiasofia-em no because empire might start from the bust or high waist but generally has a pencil or A-line skirt. Selkie uses the babydoll style, but Mia was thinking of Italian Renaissance, although the waists there started at the high waist so not really the same as babydoll cut. Babydoll is especially used in short or mini length dresses.
@@MiaMaples Mia it's odd that you don't like royal blue on you, because looking at the lineup of all the dresses at the end.. that royal blue dress just popped on you!@ you looked so stunning. I think it's actually your colour! Lol
First of all, all those dresses where gorgeous!!! The blue crystal one was decently my favorite, I feel like it would make anyone look and feel like an ice princess. But I just really want to take a moment of appretion for how much dedication Mia puts into these videos, and how much joy she is able to share. Becuase every time I watch one of her videos I feel a whole lot happier afterwards.
As a historian, a part of my soul was hit when she was trying to describe an empire waist(a regency era style), called it *Renaissance* and then showed a *Victorian* portrait! Knowing each by look is a curse and a blessing
THAT WAS FABULOUS!!! I really enjoyed watching you try on each dress. It is your personality, enthusiasm, honest approach to each dress & fashion in general that drew me into watching you try on each dress and then discussed the merits, food or bad, I each dress,!!. For me, a truly wonderful however many minutes I will never regret giving it to you!! You are Purely Delightful to watch having fun trying on dresses I can only dream of wearing!!😇
Just letting you know, I appreciate how you are always transparent and go above and beyond to be clear about the sponsorships and BTS stuff. There have been some youtubers who lied about not being sponsored and that break in trust never truly heals. So thank you, you're doing great!
That last, beaded dress, was STUNNING!! And I imagine it would kinda feel like a beautiful weighted blanket. I loved the sparkle. The draped shoulders were so pretty and that back was surprisingly gorgeous!
You should do a prom dress video, but with a twist: You thrift the dresses and modify them to make them more cute and modern. It would be a great throwback to your early videos, but with same aesthetic of your current videos.
I actually loved the blue floral dress. It's so cute and so wearable. I'm so surprised that the all over beaded dress was that true to the website. I thought all of the dresses were really nice.
Mia, if you do end up doing the charity auction for dresses, PLEASE offer one as a dress custom made by you!!! It could be a super simple, easy dress, in any fabric of your choice, maybe something like your bridesmaid dresses you made, but whoever has the winning bid on that dress could send you their measurements and it would be a perfect fit! Because as someone who is a little bigger, there's no chance of me finding a dress that would fit me. Just an idea!
I wouldn't get your hopes up, hun. As someone who put myself through grad school sewing wedding gowns for other people, I can tell you that getting a dress that fits isn't as simple as sending in your measurements. Your body is shaped differently than other bodies with the exact same measurements, and a dress that fits another person with those measurements perfectly, might not fit or flatter *you*. Best practice is to make a muslin mock-up, and then fit it to client, so that alterations can be made on the inexpensive stuff, and then cut the fashion fabric using that altered muslin as the pattern. So, unless you live somewhere close to Mia, it would be very hard to do that.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mia has already thought about the potential sizing disparity between potential auctioneers. Maybe (hopefully) she has taken that into consideration and can do something similar to what she did with the dress giveaway where she included dresses in a variety of sizes.
They are all stunning, but I love the Selkie dress. 😊 The first dress that changed in the flash was very cool. Thank you for bringing back the dress tryons, Mia! 💕
Dion Lee is a designer brand so that kinda explains the price of the first dress. The last dress was absolutely stunning and I'd totally wear it with some kinda nude slip ❤
Mia, thank you for the disclosure on Mina and I love that you are true to yourself as always. All of those dresses look phenomenal on you. I think my favorite was the reflective dress, which was surprising since I usually don’t gravitate toward dresses with cutouts.
Highlights: your pronunciation of Luton, Kosovo and Leipzig 🎉 the fact you paid for Mina dresses Brava! Why indeed deal with all the strings attached AND finally the new level amazing Mia unlocked surprisingly by the stunning complimentary metallic cutout dress ❤
Mia you look stunning in all of these dresses. So much fun to try on these expensive dresses. I'm impressed that you'll be doing a charity auction. Your generosity is wonderful and speaks so well of your parents!
with the first blue reflective dress, you can cut out the bottom half and make 2 pieces: 1) the actual short dress Mia wants 2) a cute blue skirt that’s reflective
The first dress us my absolute favorite!!!! I'm normally not a fan of that blue at all, but this dress is clearly the exception!!!!! I know you're not a fan of that color either, but it truly did look smashing on you!!!! I love how it could go from a casual to night out look with ease 😌😎
Mia I know we appreciate how much work you put in to your channel, but the fact you have been so sick and put out such good quality content is mind blowing to me. I really hope you’re feeling better. 💕
Mia. You should do more giveaways with your viewers and supporters for things like this. I'm sure everyone supporting you would LOVE and APPRECIATE that!!

Minna uses mannequins with padded hips and bust to help the tiny waist illusion. It's an old school trick from the Victorian era!
I was searching to see if anyone commented before I did. Yes, right on the money... empire waist!!!
Empire is also very Regency and Italian Renaissance (which might be where Mia was getting Renaissance from 😂), and I think both era's were inspired by the ancient Greeks? Or Romans?
mia, i know you were worried about your video quality - but this is still absolute excellence. thank you for how much you love us
This means so much!! Thank youuu💖💖🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
@@MiaMaples love you Mia!
is it just me or do her vids get better every time
Every time !
Agreed!!
THEY DO!
Her videos get better and better!!!
Awww thank youuuu!!
Reflective dress is absolutely AMAZING on you! 😎🤩😎😍❤️ ALL GORGEOUS ON YOU!
I really like the knit dress. I feel like it's honestly worth the price. It's so pretty and unique. You can do multiple looks with it
Just to mention it:
Customs is only calculated and added once, by the destination country.
Omg I was wondering what the dress was called! This was rlly helpful ty!!!
Isn't it an empire waistline?
@@sofiasofia-em maybe, ik there’s a lot of different names for this type of design
@@sofiasofia-em Yes, often pronounced "ahm-PEER". The style was worn in the Jane Austen era of around 1795- 1820, named after the Napoleonic Empire.
Mia "it looks like a grandmas curtain"
Me "Aw, Mia is giving her finest compliment"
This !!!!
@@MiaMaples Mia it's odd that you don't like royal blue on you, because looking at the lineup of all the dresses at the end.. that royal blue dress just popped on you!@ you looked so stunning. I think it's actually your colour! Lol
Each dress is gorgeous. You wore them well sis. I'm amazed at the creativity the designers put into them.
MIA I used to watch all your videos years and years ago and now suddenly you have popped back up on my timeline - I'm so glad!
That royal blue dress is AMAZING! I can absolutely see why it cost that much. I hope it was produced ethically.
Hope you're feeling better this week Mia! Love this throwback to past Mia! Thanks for being a ray of sunshine in the world! 💜
Thank you for being here 💖🫶🏻
First of all, all those dresses where gorgeous!!!
Historian here too, and you’re absolutely right lol!
First dress = stunning. I love how the fabric is reflective... no one else could make it look as amazing as Mia. ❤
I just love Mia's vibe. She's very authentic ❤
The cotton puffed sleeve dress was so pretty and feminine. You looked great in all of them Mia!
The blue reflective dress looks sooo cute on you! It fits your body type perfectly! 🥰
I love how you say garage, my dad was Canadian and it makes me so happy to hear you say it
Mia should try and make her own selkie type dress!!!
I love the reflective dress. It’s like 2 dresses in one and it’s so fun and functional. Wish it was more affordable but it looked great on you.
They are all stunning, but I love the Selkie dress. 😊 The first dress that changed in the flash was very cool. Thank you for bringing back the dress tryons, Mia! 💕
I freaking love how transparent she is about not being sponsored by anyone because she's gonna do what she wants to do no matter what and I love that
I love how open Mia is about sponsorships.
Dion Lee is a designer brand so that kinda explains the price of the first dress. The last dress was absolutely stunning and I'd totally wear it with some kinda nude slip ❤
I am in love with how sweet, kind and open-minded Mia is. the way her mind immediately goes to the shades of mesh the dresses should have. I love her
Mia never disappoints with her content. They're sure to be worth the watch every single time.
Mia would make such a good model. She plays around with the clothing fabrics, shows the movements.
I love her mom’s comments and supportiveness!!!
Mia, thank you for the disclosure on Mina and I love that you are true to yourself as always. All of those dresses look phenomenal on you. I think my favorite was the reflective dress, which was surprising since I usually don’t gravitate toward dresses with cutouts.
The first blue/reflective dress looked so good on you, Mia! Loved it.
You didn't mention her pronunciation of garage, lol.
Yes, I was laughing at those 😂 love Mia 😅
mia mentioning figure skating makes me want another skating vid 💗💗
Mia you look stunning in all of these dresses. So much fun to try on these expensive dresses. I'm impressed that you'll be doing a charity auction. Your generosity is wonderful and speaks so well of your parents!
with the first blue reflective dress, you can cut out the bottom half and make 2 pieces:
1) the actual short dress Mia wants
2) a cute blue skirt that’s reflective
I gotta say that blue dress actually seems like it’s worth $1000 lol. It’s incredible!!!!
The first dress us my absolute favorite!!!! I'm normally not a fan of that blue at all, but this dress is clearly the exception!!!!! I know you're not a fan of that color either, but it truly did look smashing on you!!!! I love how it could go from a casual to night out look with ease 😌😎
Okayyy these are actually all pretty good quality ! Color me shocked. The first blue one looked so good on, too :) ❤
Mama Maples is right, the first dress looks absolutely stunning on you!! Definitely overpriced, but this colour works so well on you, I love it!
i work 12s through the weekend, and Mias videos are literally what i do to decompress after a shift! comfort channel for sure ❤
Mia I know we appreciate how much work you put in to your channel, but the fact you have been so sick and put out such good quality content is mind blowing to me. I really hope you’re feeling better. 💕
Thank you so much, these videos are everything I love to do in life! Thank you for being here and enjoying them! LYSM 💖
@@MiaMaples 💕💕 we love you too, Mia, and we want the absolute best for you.
Mia. You should do more giveaways with your viewers and supporters for things like this. I'm sure everyone supporting you would LOVE and APPRECIATE that!!
I’m impressed that the pink Mina dress has the soft fabric wrap around the body where your arm would rub against the sequins.
I think a charity auction is a great idea, as then you can get more for charity than they would make just receiving the dresses!!! I love how much you give back!! And you look stunningg in ALL the dresses! Kindest regards to you and your lovely family.
I’ve had a stressful day and this was a great ending nothing better than relaxing and watching Mia be herself
Mia proving again she can wear anything and look good 😊
Blue on you! 😘 love your videos and how honest and transparent you are
The last dress gives me Berta vibes so much! Berta's wedding dresses are on another level! Honestly these dresses looked so amazing on you Mia!
Mia can I just say you are the only youtuber I watch religiously, every upload, every channel, as soon as I possibly can 👀
There’s nothing else in my life I’ve ever shown that much dedication, so you’re pretty damn awesome just saying 😌🙏❤
Wow that makes me so happy!! Thank you so much 💖🫶🏻
