I'm still happy that I bought one of the D-18 Authentic 1939 Aged models that you had available. It's a super great alternative to a Pre-War Dread, and I love the Level 2 aging on it, I really didn't want to wait until the end of the year for the D-18 Custom Authentic's to show up. But, I'm sure that they'll sound great when you finally get those in too. Thanks for stocking such great Martin's!
@@papawrichard3553I'm dreads I agree. On that 000 I'd go rosewood. I doubt the custom 18s show up btw. They'll hurt 18 authentic prices too much. There isn't a hog substitute. Madagascar they subbed with Indian, which let them save money and to boot, I prefer Indian
I played one yesterday in natural without aging. It sure reminds me of the D-28 Authentic 1937. Just in 20 minutes, it opened up and became a joy to play. It's loud and clear as a bell. Terrific guitar. I played a custom Adirondack HD-28 alongside it, and the CS Authentic was considerably better in every way. If you play up on the neck (it gets beefy) , or are used to narrow string spacing, it could take getting used to.
Hmm... 2 Really good sounding guitars. The D-28 sounds like a finger pick guitar and the 000-28 sounds strangely more like a strumming guitar. Liked both of them. Beautiful played as always thank you guys.
Dreadnought vs 000; now I get it. Quinton, superb demo! You started with the 000 and then switched to the Dread, I could definitely hear the difference this time. Thank you.
This 000 was a bit more subdued than I am used to hearing. Of course, construction and tonewoods influence the sound, but some instruments don't ring out the way others do. I liked the D-28 so much more for its lively soundboard and sound. As usual, Quinton brought out very nice sounds from both instruments.
The ethos I live by (after buying and selling over $30k in guitars over many years) is simple: Dreadnoughts in Mahogany, and OM/000s in Rosewood. Stick with that formula and I promise you'll be happy.
My new D41 Amber is the best playing and sounding guitar I've ever held. I've not had much chance to be around top end Martins but the 40 series are def a step above the d28's and 18's I've played over the years. The balance an tone are just exceptional. All those solid wood Martins are fantastic instruments though. Even my DCX1e plays great. Tone just doesn't compare to those all wood guitars though.
Really great sounding guitars; Quinton shows their voices nicely. They have different voices, and maybe to have one of each shape, a person might want different tone woods...maybe Adirondack Spruce on the dreadnought and the 000 with black wood and a moon Spruce or Engelmann Spruce top? All with protein glue and red spruce bracing with maybe a large sound hole on the 000? Just dreaming.
Is it me or does this model dreadnought seem warmer than the true authentic 37 . If it's a warmer guitar and not as loud I'd be going for one. Best looking guitar . Thanks guys
As usual, a stellar demo of two superb instruments! Now, I just have to say, "Stage 1 aging." It's like deliberately paying extra to purchase a pair of frayed and tattered blue jeans. I'm sorry, but I just don't get it, When I see you guys wearing jeans with holes in the knee caps, maybe I'll reconsider. 'Till then, keep up the superb and entertaining demos..
That 000 is no slouch honestly against that dread volume wise. I'm surprised. Throw some medium/lights on there and it will be even closer I personally preferred NON aged on the 000-28. They're more articulate and versatile. The aged is a little older sounding. Which isn't for everyone. Both great and extremely close sounding anyway I would go 000-28 with this model and stick with Hog for a dread
Dreadnought, to my ears, has a tone that I buy. Nothing wrong with 000. Both are beautiful works of art. I need a 000 and will buy one just like this edition.
The 000 is much easier to hold in your arms, and have a shorter scale length which also makes it easier to play with your fingers. I purchased a Gibson J-45 last year, and next is the 000-28 which also has rosewood back and sides. Hope y'all get one!!
Get a dreadnought first. More versatile. Then if you can. Get the 000 or wait for the om. But most likely if you are in this market you know what you play and want and need. Just get both lol. But if you are one of the rare guys that knows hes going to play guitar and not give up. An investment into an instrument like this will only make you better.
“Let me do this again” and boom! Great demo you guys and beautiful playing Quinton! That 000 sounds like heaven. Wow

I like Mahogany better myself. 👍

Terrific guitars, wonderful hosts! Love Martins, they’re timeless.

Thanks for playing Karma Police! I purchased one of the non-aged ones!

Both very lovely. OOO for me. Dread is deeper, boomier.
You just sold a dreadnought to me, guys. Awesome! Love it!
The dread sounded great on the really notey examples. Overall I like the 000.
Those are gorgeous...
Paul's running joke about ideally you both is now sounding rather serious in tone. I hope his store is doing okay.
Nice comparison ( as always). I'm a petite gal & play 00 size guitars, but love those Martin Dred's ! ! I do play a Martin Dred Jr . and love it . :-)
u are awesome!!
Those are some beautiful guitars.
It's like going from a Carolla to a BMW.
Martin's authentics are in a class of their own.
Get both. Get both.

Aged. Get the unaged version in the 000
Those are magnificent, beautiful guitars!
I'm in love with that dreadnought

100% this guy knows. Exactly my formula. Unless I'm buying say a 65 d28. I've heard some seriously good articulate ones

Yah you pay double the price for aging. I'm buying the regular 000-28 and age it in my home.
I liked the 000 better when Quinton was playing Karma Police and the D-28 on the last one.
I preferred the sound of the 000! It is just balanced better.
Yep
When are the D 18 custom authentic coming?

Yeah im just getting the low gloss. No aging for me. No VTS even. I don't like pre aged stuff. It's ridiculous

Difference between a 000 and a dreadnought?
Answer- dreadnought is next level.
Damn thats a sweeet sounding dread. Fooooooook

@@juana1483, The funds for my next guitfiddle hopefully will be Casemi.
The 000 size sounds better with rosewood imo. Jmo
They sound new to me... lol
WOW!
How Are they worth $6200.00?
There is a version that is not aged for about $1000 less. But either way, I think they are worth the price tag. Play one and you'll likely agree
ahhhhh...that is the question....a guitar like this has all the top appointments....adi top best woods hide glue
aging on and on....
@@soofitnsexy As always, an item is worth what any individual is willing to pay for it.
Just get the unaged version. You can get them about $4700 out the door from the right dealer
Dammit guys now I gotta fork 🍴 up the extra $300 on the sweet deal I am already shoots be back to couple bucks short of $3000
If it’s made to look 50 years old, does that mean in 50 years time the thing will be falling apart?
I guess I am truly a dread guy, no comparison really...

Quentin can’t not interrupt you😂😂 dude’s so disrespectful.
Schwachsinnige Preisgestaltung.
