I chuckled when you mentioned maybe not trying to get that Auckland feel as the city grows. As a New Zealander, I think Aussie and Kiwi cities have really specific feels to them that it's just difficult to replicate with this game.
I chuckled too, was just thinking it wasn't seeming very auckland-like when he mentioned potentially giving up the idea. I appreciate him at least making an attempt, but as you said, the feel is hard to get in-game. (especially without custom assets, it seems.)
as an aussie i agree ! no shade to him at all but from my experiences in perth and adelaide, theyre so specifically aussie that it seems like it would be hard to replicate them. idk about new zealand but when he made the grid street layout in the first episode i was like,, omg. so un-australian lmao.
Considering the currently vague plans to make it a Rockport, I'd love to suggest planning the "boring" neighbourhoods with racing in mind, so planning the roadways to be race tracks first and forgettable plopped neighbourhoods second could still make for a varied episode!! I'd love to see that, I've been thinking about it since you first mentioned Rockport
When you completely plop neighborhoods it is really fun to watch I love seeing the nitty gritty work you put in its also really cool to see what makes you create what towns and where maybe even add some custom lore and backgrounds to the neighborhoods.
I like seeing you plop buildings and how you select what to place and then detail it. Maybe a bit of zoning as well just to see how the simulation grows the city under your influence. Then you can fo in and detail the zoned areas.
My personal preference for watching Cities Skylines is the more modded builds! I like the game play but it is more enjoyable to me to see people creating cities with few limitations
This is really turning out to be a gorgeous city so far. Personally, I think that it’s beginning to look like a coastal city that you would find on the West Coast of North America, probably on an inlet somewhere between like San Francisco and Vancouver Island range.
I really enjoy this, seeing a random city get built pretty realistically is very enjoyable to watch. you really don't have to replicate any city or get inspiration from other cities! It's really nice to see someone drain their brain and creativity into cities skylines, definitely you because you sound chill. Keep it up, i'll be waiting for these video's, they're like the perfect catharsis during my difficult exams. 👍
I totally agree with the sentiment about just building cities without really thinking about the needs and stuff in this game. I think its much more fun to build something that looks realistic and has thought process behind the layout than just trying to satisfy the in game needs constantly.
Great video! Excited to see the series continue. Maybe relocate the school and plop a little train station there, that would solve your public transit concerns.
It was starting in a weird way, but the result just give the vibe of a tiny town a little bit close to a big city in North America and I love it ! Simple things like the port, commercial place or school place makes it alive, maybe more detailling at those places would be cool (like OVERCHARGED EGG or Few Candy would do) but it seems really nice for now, sitting well here.
Where I live in the Okanagan Valley, in the southern interior of British Columbia, it’s very normal for the major 4-lane highway to run right past exclusive luxury neighbourhoods. Terrain is steep, building area is limited, and mountain/lake views are paramount, so people make the sacrifice and have their million dollar mansions right next to the highway. Wouldn’t be my choice, but people do it all over the place here. Lore wise, this could also be an area in transition. Maybe it used to be super exclusive, but as the city has grown and surrounded it, after the highway got put in, the neighbourhood is now middle class. There’s an interesting reverse migration that’s happening in many American cities. Historically, the wealthy and middle class moved to the suburbs outside the city. The poor lived in the inner city, because industry was in the inner city. Now an inversion is happening. New industry is being built on city outskirts, old city centres are being gentrified, converted into posh high density, and poor and lower middle class people are moving into some of the older suburbs.
Nice. If i were to give you some advice I would say put the ferry/cruise area to the right of the cargo area and around the area of the train station. Good job so far!
That hill side surrounded by motorway looking over the ocean with heaps of trees is very similar to what a nice Auckland suburb looks like & the large port is very Auckland vibe so just stick a sky tower into downtown and you are ready. good neighbourhoods in New Zealand have a busy high street / shopping street near by with bars and cafes so if you feel like making an Auckland feel city then have a look at Ponsonby & Ponsonby road or Parnell & Parnell road in Auckland on google maps. Anyway this is looking stunning so far
Placing residential is what I'm here for... Keep on placing em. One thing I always find not nice is building off camera... I want us to continue from where we left, together
On the thought of plopping neighborhoods being boring to watch, Tim, you could make it into a lower detailed 30-45 second time lapse so we still see the suburb grow, yet it doesn’t take half an episode! I’m enjoying Rockport and am looking forward to how it turns out. (Would love to see this series sprinkled in with CS2 content when the time comes.)
Love it, rather than putting houses next to the highway I would have made that strip a tree-buffer so that no ones view is the just the highway. Detailing of homes very good also love the tennis court it makes the neighborhood look very rich-people-core. Reminded me of a neighborhood one of my friends lives in in LA, it's a small super rich area right toff a highway (gated community).
i'm asking you for one thing, make some part of the city like this "roundabout road" from NFSMW (it's hard for me to explain but if you look at the map from MW you'll know) Also i love your vids
Suggestion for a building in Rockport: In NFS MW (the original game), there was a shop with a giant donut on top, that I significantly remember was destructible, if there’s any such asset close to a donut shop (with said giant donut on top) I think that would be a great asset for the downtown area!
do you have footage of your Halifax inspired city? wwould love to see it been thinking of a halifax inspired city since discovering the game!! also in dunswell you mentioned a halifax inspired building and it totally is!!! awesome :)))))
If you’re going for a New Zealand theme rugby is the predominant sport by far. Soccer is definitely around but might have to think about swapping some out for rugby fields 👍
Does anyone know what asset collection he used for these villas? Really was looking for good looking residential villas to subscribe to but couldn’t find any good ones, but I do like his ones
Personally I don't enjoy watching these residential plopping but that's just me. I would rather see network and transport building, and decoration plopping.
I love rockport
Who doesn't
I love you
Yo same
same
@@propader ???????idkbro
i love seeing you plopping houses, it would make the episodes longer and i love it! spending nights eating snacks and watching would be fantastic
Or put like filler episodes of just building
same

As an Aussie, I very much agree with you that cities like Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Auckland do have a very specific feel to them!

The plopping of building is my favorite part of these videos. It’s very entertaining

Keep it up man, loving the series and can't wait to see the city turn into a megapolis
Every time i am down, depressed etc i watch city skilines videos, your videos are great and one of the Best i saw for this game,ty mate

It did give me some Vancouver vibes. God, do I miss that city!
I like to watch neighborhoods get built, I want to watch these residential episodes.
Keep plopping buildings and do ASMR with it. Loved it.
You maybe should use network multitool a bit more because some roads look a bit strange with better curves it would be much nicer
even if you don’t want to do it I really like the series
i agree

this series is a gem. I just saw this in my recommendations and it does not disappoint. you earned a new sub my man!
this series is somehow so addicting, keep goin

OMG new Rockport Video, I'm crying

I love wathcing you plop buildings
Please keep ploping down buildings it makes for a long video and is actually my favourite part about watching you play cities skyline
Please continue with these episodes, you have such a nice style and we love your videos
man i love this series, its just so fun for some reason man
You have a mod that allows you to manually adjust the level of each building. So don't need to focus on that when plopping.
I love watching you place houses and everything else, please don’t leave too much out!
Where I live in the Okanagan Valley, in the southern interior of British Columbia, it’s very normal for the major 4-lane highway to run right past exclusive luxury neighbourhoods.

love these series man! Keep it up, I cant wait for the finished city!
Hey man I will always love your vids the cities you build are inspiring to me thank you. And don't give up that grind!!!
I kind of love seeing upscale residential neighborhoods but maybe build them out more with a bigger yard and pools outbuildings etc with docks
Plopping neighborhoods is always my favorite. The Mid Century Modern CCP houses would make a nice upscale neighborhood, too.
6:55 I quite enjoying you build north american inspired cities.
I love Rockport it inspired me to make my Rockport it is hafeway to 100 k population
I just fall in love with these rockport episodes. ❤
What about if one place You make a style of small buisness district like the rockport buisness Center in NFS MW
i love plooping houses LOL love your vids!
Placing residential is what I'm here for... Keep on placing em.
One thing I always find not nice is building off camera... I want us to continue from where we left, together
3:01 Lmao, how you just pulled out the hi-rise apartment block and just went with it
The only think missing from that area is a train station, great job on the rest of the build
On the thought of plopping neighborhoods being boring to watch, Tim, you could make it into a lower detailed 30-45 second time lapse so we still see the suburb grow, yet it doesn’t take half an episode! I love this series and the plopping of buildings I would hate to see some neighborhoods without plopped building love the series
Idea for the posh neighborhood: a gallery highway tunnel. The noise would be reduced and the view of the coast would be restored
Love it, rather than putting houses next to the highway I would have made that strip a tree-buffer so that no ones view is the just the highway. Detailing of homes very good also love the tennis court it makes the neighborhood look very rich-people-core.
Reminded me of a neighborhood one of my friends lives in in LA, it's a small super rich area right toff a highway (gated community).
great timing as always
Rugby is big in new zeland
the before and after idea sounds good
Learning the stories and living with the neigbourhoods
i'm asking you for one thing, make some part of the city like this "roundabout road" from NFSMW (it's hard for me to explain but if you look at the map from MW you'll know)
Also i love your vids
imagine this with an autumn aesthetic
Great build! In New Zealand - Rugby is actually a big sports and not Soccer.
It would be a good addition to add a golf course near posh area.
This is slowly giving me some Vancouver vibes
It's so annoying we can't get nice looking cities just using growables. Makes it take forever with ploppables.
You should make rockport videos often
You deserve more subscribers 🔥
I love yours videos keep filming videos like this 😁
This is fun, thanks for sharing.
For sport in New Zeland it would be Cricket, Netball, Rugby and Football/Soccer. Rugby is the overwhelming majority and is the national sport.
Watching this is giving me major Cronulla/manly/foster vibes idk why but it just is
Suggestion for a building in Rockport: In NFS MW (the original game), there was a shop with a giant donut on top, that I significantly remember was destructible, if there’s any such asset close to a donut shop (with said giant donut on top) I think that would be a great asset for the downtown area!

you should add on the industrial area, you need to make an airport/railroad/boat freight transition station
A suggestion to add more of some services like hospitals, gas stations, convenience stores, schools etc
Just a suggestion :You should've put some palm and coconut trees in that neighborhood since its closer to sea area🙂 but still looks cool though
Ooh I’m early for once!!
8:22 I LOVE THIS STUFF!
loving the videos, but if you make another wealthy area, space the houses out more since if its more American inspired that's what it looks like
never thought this is what I wanted but now I know I do 😂
The neighbourhoods are the best parts
Good work!
Luckily theres a building called the space needle in city skylines and theres also one in Auckland
Nice Video
Will you do a space center ?
Beautiful
Hockey is a big sport in new Zealand.
You should do like a manurewa area. Which is a little bit poor and some good areas. is a area of auckland.
18:06
Car crushers 2 ahh beat
i love this stuff!!!
Nice
You lluxury neighbourhood kinda reminds me of the goat simulator city goatwood
The house with a pool is facing directly into the highway. Me personally I wouldn’t like to be watched as I swim. Maybe you could change it?
i think you should make a park area for this neighbourhood
New Zealand plays RUGBY!
footy feidls are in schools mainly for oceania
Does anyone know what asset collection he used for these villas? Really was looking for good looking residential villas to subscribe to but couldn’t find any good ones, but I do like his ones
are fences out of a mod? if so just tell us when the feature is from the vanilla game . . . which seems to have a poor amount of
Rugby is probably the biggest sport but the football fields would be second I think or maybe basketball
What building assets do you use all the ones I try to use are broken assets.
i feel like this mountain part is similar to like a colorado range
These videos always inspire me but I can never make something like that because I m a ps4 player and my pc is to potato to hold the game lol
how u adjust the height land? what button do u press on keyboard? because i cant find what button should i press
can u make a campus area soon i'd love to see that
I prefer to have all construction done on camera. Maybe you can timelapse the "boring" stuff
The lot problem made me change my blocks to uneven lenghts
We have the same english accent. Are you in canada (québec) by any chance?
Personally I don't enjoy watching these residential plopping but that's just me. I would rather see network and transport building, and decoration plopping.
