I live in Uptown closer to the lake and it's about 1400 for my 1 bedroom with a great view of Wrigley. I am so happy you talked about the cost of an apartment and locations.
I've been looking all over the internet for such an honest apartment hunt. Thank you so much for not only saying how much rent was for each place, but also the additional fees! No one else talks about those kinds of things, even though they're what everyone wants to know. I think you chose the best place, I hope it's worked out well for you!
Great video! Whenever I look at these Chicago apartment hunting videos, I’m so shocked by the prices. I lived in Chicago for ten years right after grad school. My first apartment in 2007 in Edgewater was a 1 bedroom (800 square feet) for 825 bucks a month. I then moved to Hyde Park/Kenwood area in 2010 and we were living in a 2 bed/2 bath new condo that was being rented out for 1350 per month (garage space included in price). I say all that to say it’s amazing to see how quickly prices have gone up in a matter of ten years. Chicago needs more affordable housing. I’m glad you found a nice place. That was the best one of them all. Hope you’re staying safe during this time. Take care.
Binge watching apartment hunting videos rn and I found yours and I love you omg you’re so honest and to the point! I see you’re not uploading anymore, I hope you’re doing well :)
I moved to Chicago as well around about a year ago when I was 18 with my twin sister and we got an apartment which had a view of the city but it was also high, which is beautiful at the night
i'm looking to move to chicago for my job and i am shocked at how expensive everything is so thank you for being honest about the tour and the prices. for the type of money most jobs pay in the city, housing is still not affordable and it's wild!
I live in Chicago and need to move myself, so I appreciate this video. Although I’m inching toward buying a house, lol. Anyway, I appreciate what you said about disclosing rent prices because I need to know! You have people saying it’s pretty affordable and the rent is $1,700. So that is not affordable to everybody. I have 2 cats and was having a hard time when I was looking. Some places even have a one pet policy, though a lot at least allowed for up to 2 cats. Damn. It’s a mess out here.
I hope you find the perfect place! I find it so frustrating that people don’t disclose rent prices because that’s the most important thing. Good luck in your search!
Girl, so I'm from Chicago. I moved away for about 8 years. When I came back, I looked for an apartment with a washer and dryer. I couldn't find anything I was willing to pay (which was no more than $1200 a month). I ended up BUYING A HOUSE - it was actually CHEAPER! 3bdrm, 2 ba, 2 car garage - less than $1000 a month. Crazy!
such a helpful video! im planning on moving to Chicago in 3 months and i did not realize how many neighborhoods were in Chicago!! and man the prices are insane. Im about to graduate and Im trynna figure out how to live in Chicago, while still being able to save up ahhh the struggle. Another choice is to get a roomie but i dont know how I will feel about that. Thanks again for this video :)
There’s honestly so many!! Rogers Park is definitely my favorite, I’m glad my video could help if you have any questions HMU on Instagram I’m happy to help!
I would suggest Rogers Park 100% and if you wanna live more in the city I’d say Albany park or Hyde park/bronzeville or if you have a job lined up I’d suggest finding a neighborhood closer to your job, depending on your budget
Me and my fiancé are currently looking for a place in Chicago ... it’s so frustrating because most of the affordable housing are in bad neighborhoods. But loved your video 💓
I would say check up north too! I find a lot of affordable places up north I just have to ready search hard lol but I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Good luck in your new home search!
Please do more videos about apartment searching first timers. I’m still in school at Harold Washington but I want to live in rogers Park, seems the only safe place (because south and west ain’t it, nor the East being so damn expensive 🤦🏽♀️) but please do apartment needs and dont needs or do’s and donts.....etc.
I plan on moving to Chicago in a few years and I’ve been trying to do as much research as possible so I’m very prepared and this video was so helpful thank you so much ❤️
Nice!! So where did you end up choosing again? I also live in east Rogers Park and there’s many nice modern apt at a decent price point. One of the last north side neighborhoods that is affordable , close to lake and super diverse. Just curious where did you move from? Good luck and enjoy your new place!!
I'm seeing my first place over in Irving Park, I couldn't get the realtor or whoever shows the apartment to answer at all. I had to call 8 times. They also only had one picture on the listing so I'm not sure what I'm going to see, but its a great price and right where I need to be.
Great video my sister. All those neighborhoods you named are exceptional! That's North Side Chicago. That's the best part of the city. I live on the South Side in Hyde Park. Just wanted to say that I would of picked the 3rd apartment as well. I'm actually moving up north when my lease is up to the Edgewater neighborhood. Chicago has a great neighborhoods. You just have to fine one that's to your liking. Where are you from if I may ask?
@@pinkylee7868 Hyde Park is on the South Side, and it rivals any neighborhood on the North Side. All of the South Side isn't bad. I know you all have been taught to steer clear from out south, but there is real vast gentrification going on as we speak. Eventually the South Side will finally be better than the North Side. It has to. It's the biggest part of town. Whether you like it or not, the South Side is majority of Chicago. You'll all see soon enough....
Hey girl just watched your video loved how detailed and honest it was compared to others I watched I’ll be 22 next month first time getting my own place and I plan on moving to Chicago this summer if not Hyde park area definitely up north can you do a update on your apartment and what’s it like living in Chicago ?
Hi 👋🏽 thanks so much for watching! I definitely plan on doing an apartment update with the pros and cons and I’ll be doing an apartment tour before I move out for sure
I’m going to do an update and give some links to help people who are looking for apartments out here. I would def say check Becovic that’s my management group I like them

I really, really appreciate how detailed & honest this is!

where you get your bedframe ?
Ashley furniture I believe
We need a apt tour !!
lol once I get it together!
Do you think gas and electric really stays within 50-70 a month I am relocating as a flight attendant and every penny counts lol
It depends on where you live and what’s included. I didn’t have to pay gas bc it was included so I was only responsible for electric with was usually between 30-50 depending on the time of year

Becovic management is what my apartment is under but I found it on apartments.com app
Super helpful!!
THANK YOUUUUUUU FOR PRICESSSSSS..
Also . Since electric is not included in price how much is your electric bill usually?
It ranges between $30-$40 something

It didn’t come with Internet I get my Internet from Comcast and it’s $50 a month
