i find it better to install pbs (as a vm on an existing proxmox server) with only 12gb say of storage allocated then have the datatore pointing to a NFS share on a local NAS (the NAS having it own backup strategy- I find synology NAS's excellent for this with hyperbackup installed on the synology to backup the synology NAS to a local rsync store and offsite B2 or C2 storage)
