Pie charts works well for displaying discrete data because all the values combined equal 100 percent of the total. Because of this, pie charts are also a good way to display your values as percentages of the total.

Shoe size cannot be further broken down into smaller sizes like - 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 between the sizes 4 and 4.5. If the number is continuous, s it can be further broken down into parts eg: weight which can take values like - 4.1 kg, 4.2 kg etc.

Depends on the context. If you are taking sizes as 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 then these are generally finite value in a specific range and are considered discrete data. If you take sizes as L, M, XL then these are categorical data.
