John Salley lived in an affluent neighborhood called Palmer Woods on the Westside of Detroit, which was about 30 mins south of The Palace of Auburn Hills (where the Pistons played). He was the only Piston who lived in the city and it meant a lot to Detroit.
Salley is always a class act. Except 1 the time i was in vegas, came across john at the Ces. I was excited to say hi since he was a piston and i lived in flint mi. I went to speak he was like damn that a nice jersey.... Brigham young... Who you wearing? I turned around to his disappointment it was a Danny Ainge jersey... he said nah... get outta here. Lol we both laughed and he then shook my hand. Definitely a cool moment. 💪🏾👌🏾

Ps Gratitude Pps Richard Pryor Craps is one of the best Comedy Albums, ever. Which Way Is Up is one the best movies, ever.
Nah Salley too funny man 🤣🤣🤣 he said I thought I had it when Jordan dunked on him 🤣 Great episode and John salley a great storyteller. Now when is the bad boys doc coming?
This was my favorite episode. It took us to an era of basketball that was on the wave changing the game. Stories told gave us insight into the players if that day. What I also loved is the progression from player to making plays as a business man and entrepreneur. You young folks pay attention. Take you blessings and let it continue to bless you for a lifetime
Of all the NBA videos on RUclips that I have watched over a decade or more, this video is by far the most entertaining and important one...Salley tells stories and anecdotes of his time in the NBA that I have never heard about from other videos...Salley deserves a huge contract from one of the major broadcasters
Always grateful for Salley. Growing up in Detroit (pre-AAU days) Salley’s basketball camp gave me the exposure + opportunity to take on young talent in the city like Willie Green (current Pelicans coach).
all the smoke made a good business move with the timing up of this one. its no coincidence that they drop this episode right after the pivot dropped the Isaiah Thomas interview

Always great hearing these NBA stories from the 80s & 90s of the NBA. The ReDeem Team would have gave the Dream Team a good run in a best of Seven series.
Sure. Redeem had to get streaky. But if you see Dream Team, they were much craftier players with unexpected plays, passing. MJ was just on cruise control and didn't even try in 1992 (look up his 84 games against NBA All-Stars). Rebounding, not even a comparison. Old school players and esp Dream Team grabbed rebounds with ferocity. Ruleswise, in early 2000s, NBA implemented rules that defensive couldn't impede the offensive player (including those without the ball). FIBA still has old rule where defense is allowed to. This is even NOTED in the Netflix documentary as to why US players had trouble in international games and if you look at 08, they just kept chucking shots from far away because they couldn't just run around freely without the ball. Dream Team would have absolutely grinded down any team as they were physically much tougher and played that style with ease. Remember, OLDER Malone and Stockton spanked Shaq and Kobe Lakers. So too many people just dismiss how effective a 'lower' part of that team was.
I tell everyone that 92/93 MJ was the most spectacular player ever. He became the game at that time with all the confidence and the physical abilities to match. He was basketball manifested at its best.
This man played with the Bad Boy Pistons. Only to leave and wind up with arguably the best team of all time. Then after that somehow gets to join Kobe and Shaq for their first chip together. What a career!!
