Kenny Smith used to hang out at Nells Nightclub in Manhattan New York . We also worked together for The Nets when they was located in East Rutherford New Jersey. He was so down to earth even then.
Kenny Smith, I'm from VA and a year older than you, and played highschool and college ball. I wasn't that good, good enough to make the teams and be the backup point guard. But you were my idol at the point, and still my favorite point guard of all time. Your game had no flaws!! Quickness, Shot, Handles, Swag, and Crazy moves. You had to share and play down your game in the NBA, but had you gone to a different team, your career could have been in the same breath of all the great legend point guards! Loved watching your whole career even into your TNT Analysis job. You're great for our race brother🙏🏽

That bus vs ship analogy is the best one anyone has ever put together when it comes to roles on a team. Someone is only a bus rider when they're at the end of the bench and don't see any minutes at all, but someone having a role assigned that helps the team succeed is a crew member, even if it's s small role.
This is a great episode. Kenny is a class act and you can see his leadership qualities that he has. Great to see how this show has evolved. Awesome questions!

Back in the early 2000s I remember the story Kenny talked about with Alimoe and Skip to my Lou going to college and Alimoe not going. They showed it on the And1 mixtape volume, Alimoe was on the block while Rafer was hooping in college. Alimoe was nice.
I met Kenny in Sacramento 1 time and it was at a club that was poppin at the time. Kenny was in a (I think) a limo that drove up and let him out. I was standing outside time they let me in.. Kenny walked up and said, "He's With Me". He walked in and I followed and I said thank man and I didn't try to follow up cause he was a star in town and I didn't want to be no groupie azz dude. I hope to meet him again since I'm my own man now. I'm so glad to see him still being the man.

I met Kenny in Sacramento 1 time and it was at a club that was poppin at the time. Kenny was in a (I think) a limo that drove up and let him out. I was standing outside time they let me in.. Kenny walked up and said, "He's With Me". He walked in and I followed and I said thank man and I didn't try to follow up cause he was a star in town and I didn't want to be no groupie azz dude. I hope to meet him again since I'm my own man now. I'm so glad to see him still being the man.
