To remove window film, you simply scrape it off with a razor blade scraper. Any size razor scraper will work, but the best size is a six inch scraper. A six inch scraper makes removal faster and easier. Always use a sharp blade and hold the scraper at a low angle to the glass. Never scrape glass with a dull, damaged, or rusty blade.
When you get the film is off, wet the glass with the soapy water and scrape it again to remove any leftover film and adhesive. When all the film and adhesive is off, wet and scrub the glass, squeegee clean then dry the edges with a paper towel. It’s that simple.
Now I’ll demonstrate window film removal.
You don’t need to wet the glass at first. Just scrape off the film. Remember to use a sharp blade and keep the knife at a low angle to the glass.
Now wet the window and scrape it again to get the adhesive off.
Wet it again, scrub the glass, squeegee and dry the edges.

Just tried this technique on two French doors and it worked perfectly!!! Furthermore, it took less that 15mins.
I had previously tried using expensive adhesive removers, WD40, ammonia, a professional window washer, and copious amounts of foul language. All resulted in a smeared, sticky mess that I’ve lived with for 3 years.
But with this technique, I just used the 6” blade to remove film. I didn’t need to follow up with dawn mixture. Thank you!!!
Sorry for the late response. Your welcome. Thank you for watching
Thanks! Quick easy video.
Rock on man. Thanks!
Thanks for the reply.
Thank you, sir.
+ floor steamer will do
- Karcher SC3
+ plastic razor blade
> start with a corner edge
> two layers of film, if you can just remove the tinting later, much easier and just glides off. This will leave the base/security layer which is see through. From my experience about 80% of the time you get lucky and just the outer layer comes off only with no further steaming necessary. If both layers come away then keep steaming and pull the sheet once you have enough to have a good hold of the film
Our video shows how professional flat glass window tinters remove existing window film. We strongly advise against using steam on windows. Overheating, or unevenly heating, window glass may cause thermal stress crack.
You can remove this tint without doing all that and just water and newspaper. 👍
Awesome!
Good Job! I think I can do this!
You definitely can do this.
Thank you!

Does this work on the frosted privacy film on windows ie bath tubs windows that have frosting.
I'm trying to remove really old window tint off a window and it is literally hell trying to get it off. I only say that because it's not as easy on my window to just scrape it off like that because it's stuck too hard to the window. :(
Removing window film is hard work. In our video we demonstrate the way professional window tinters remove film. Some film is harder to remove than others and old film can be very hard and messy to remove. You just have to work hard and use your muscles.
@@idealtint5004 Thank you for responding. I've only got a smaller portion that remains now, so hopefully it won't be too much longer. 👍👍💜
How long did it take to remove tint and clean both of these windows?
How long it will take to remove film depends on a number of factor; a window that size will take 10-15 minutes.
All you need is a heat gun to get a start with the film. Keep the heat to a minimum, once the film heats it basically pulls off. Piece of cake. I just did to full size french door on my patio.
I tried a blade and it didn't work like your video says.

Thank you Sir
Thank you for watching.
From the sound of that film, you could’ve just pulled it off and then scrape the glue, but I understand what you’re trying to demonstrate 😎
Cool. I'm glad you understand and yes sometimes, if you are lucky, you can just tear off the film and then scrape.
How do you remove window tint film from acrylic windows?
I apologize, I don't know how. You could try to peel it off then try finding something to remove the adhesive. One thing I can tell you is do not use a razor blade or knife of any kind.
scraper size adjust with window pane size. I think I'll try steamer.
Hard work and messy
Yes it is work, and depending on the condition of the film it can be messy.
Not being funny but.....why do you have a window film of exactly the same view as you have outside your window? 😂😂😂😂
