- I thought I'd have a go at playing Nick Cave's beautiful piano-based ballad on the guitar. The song can be found on his 1997 album (not, of course, 1989 as I mistakenly say in the video)The Boatman's Call. Learn my arrangement. Plus, I have some general tips for coming up with your own arrangements of any song.

Just when you think this channel can’t get any better....
This is so beautiful, what a tone and sensitivity you have... damn so warm and full of expression.
I'm back to "trying" to play guitar again, and this is the perfect motivation despite I know I'll never ever be close... but it's worth the try if meanwhile I discover gems like this :P
What a brilliant version of this maestro, thanks
Just a quick note to tell you how much I appreciate your videos. Really fantastic. I admire your playing and song selection very much. Thank you for making these!!!
Very nice arrangement, thanks. The chiming Tele tone (I always associate it with Jeff Buckley) you got sounds really beautiful. You've inspired me to try again at arranging "Lime Tree Arbour" from the same album, one I tried to tackle before but never got round to.
Thanks for this, loved your interpretation, great dynamics which of course helps convey the feel and message and really liked your use of octaves in the chorus.
I was supposed to see Nick Cave and the Damned in Denver, CO 1 month ago tomorrow. So upset. Thanks for doing this, Adrian.
Man, that's a hard loss to take. It's a shame what covid is doing to live music. I've never seen him live and it's one of those bucket list events for me.
@@indieguy81 for sure
I had tickets for Nick Cave, Wire, Swans and Einsturzende Neubauten all in San Francisco this year. (This is the second time I was to see EN, and they canceled the tour last time too. Still have never seen them.) Looking forward to thundering rock music again.
Wow this rendition got me welling up brother, that was so beautiful ❤️
Beautifully done Adrian - one single lesson teaching a lifetime of guitar theory. Thank you.
Stunning interpretation well done!
Thank you, Adrian!
I was surprised to hear you say you'd got into an album that must have been released at least five years before you were born when it first came out. Thankfully you corrected that in the description!
Amazing and inspiring. I’m a musician and this gives me lots of fuel for the imagination, so thank you! 💜
I have no idea who Nick Cave is (I’m old), but.... that was bloody beautiful! I could listen to that all day. Can’t play it but I sure dig it!
Hey I'm pretty old too, but anyway I recommend checking out the album "The Boatman's Call" that opens with this song (although on piano). Nick has noisy stuff, but this album is very ballad-y and reflective and haunting.
@@cskueny Thanks, I’ll look it up and give it a listen!
Very cool lesson. Great job! 🎸🔥
I would be suspicious of anyone who doesn’t like that ! Absolutely beautiful! Thank you😊
Beautifully done.
That Telecaster sounds fantastic
The best nick cave cover i have ever heard.
Brilliant job.
Such a beautiful song Adrian.
Can you start posting your covers on Spotify or something? I would absolutely listen to this version of this track.
Totally agree, this rendition really works as a standalone piece. Even an mp3 on the patreon site would do me :)
You nailed it . Beautiful
Great as usual I saw Mr Nick Cave on stage so great
What can you say, excellent. Thanks.
Lovely so soulful - great arrangement. Thanks
This gentleman is in love with music 🎶🎶❤️
Well Adrian, I should say, I love Nick Cave and also I love you for the work that you are doing. Thanks.
This is sick, more Nick Cave is always appreciated!
Just the other day I was thinking of learning a Nick Cave song and I also realized the same as you did, though I lack the skill to do the same as you did!
Thankfully there's you on youtube to actually pickup stuff like nick cave, joy division and bauhaus! Very cool!
Absolutely beautiful! One of my favorite songs. Thank you Adrian.
Brilliant mate .What a song this is and you have broken it down so I can have a go eternal thanks .
As a non guitar song would love you to have a go at waltzinblack as a memory to the late Dave greenfield.
Excellent lesson Adrian and a beautiful arrangement of this ballad!
Great stuff. Arrangement, tone, playing are all top notch.
Wow, such beautiful guitar work. Amazing arrangement. I want a copy of this brilliant instrumental Thank you for sharing your talent
Beautiful !
Oh my God, that’s a beautiful performance 👏🏻
Simply beautiful
whoa.... mate.... that was just beautiful!
Only listened to the first play through once and before I watch one more second I'm off to your site for the tab!
This is so far up my alley it hurts!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful arrangement (and all the music theory and inspiration it comes with en passant), Adrian. One more reason to visit your channel as often as possible.
Fantastic.
JFC that was brilliant
Yes! Brilliant song choice
Lovely stuff mate
Wonderful. Beautiful played.
Beautiful transposition!
This is a beautiful arrangement. I’ll definitely have a go at learning something of it. But with the song choices you make I just want to listen to your record collection
Very well done
I’m a big Nick Cave fan, he’s just incredible live. Great arrangement (again). Been playing along with Nature Boy just because there’s not much else to play along with...
Loved the harmonics before the chorus.
Simply, thank you.
that is absolutely lovely
Yeah, more of this kind of stuff, please.
wonderful
wow...can't think of anything else to say. thanks Adrian.
Wow that’s beautiful mate. Amazing.
This is fantastic. Became a Patreon on the strength of it to get the tabs.
Magic!
Your channel deserves more views
Super Nice!
Thanks Adrian, GREAT work !!
Adrian’s a genius!
Excellent choice
Beautiful
Beautifully done!
I almost made a comment on your RSH post asking for some Badseeds era Blixa Bargeld guitar, but this is close enough. I'm starting to think you're psychic.
I love Nick Cave!
Nick Cave meets The Durutti Column...nice
I heard you. Breaking down any more wild natured Bad Seeds song and especially how to go along in Blixa's DADAAD tuning should be fun. And who else could possibly do it, not so many around here ...thank you, Adrian.
Wonderful.
That was so beautiful. I'm going to become a Patreon and get the tabs.
You should take a whack at "Blast Off" or "Big Jesus Trash Can."
Your guitar version is very much like the original, haunting and beautiful. Wouldn’t it be cool as a duet with you and Nick? I’d pay to see that.
This was great, thanks.
Perfect Adrian...
Love it!
Could you please make a video about Where the wild roses grow?
I caught him in Barcelona a few years ago at Primavera. Brilliant gig. I defy Nick to listen to this and not sing along. Good job!
Sad Waters is a great guitar led one, always wanted to learn how to play From her to eternity I'm sure you could figure it out!
Adrian are you using a Bluetooth page Turner foot pedal or reading off the paper score? Looking for recommendations for a good wireless page Turner. Thanks for the arrangement!
Please give us some birthday party! I need my rowland fix lol
I wanna be in your band!
Bravissimo!
Would be very grateful to learn shivers
Mate, that was sublime, a really thoughtful interpretation. I'm now really looking forward to hearing Big Jesus Trash Can on acoustic :D
Edit. Actually Zoo Music Girl would maybe be doable?
Edit Edit On listening again.... maybe not :D
Hi Adrian, first of all my compliment for your arrangement, i would like to ask you about your gear as your tone is amazing!! Well the Tele i think its a 52 reissue, what about the amp and effects? Thanks
Check near the end of the video. He always comments on his gear at the end.
That´s a very powerful song and watched you playing it was hilarious, thanks for it. In other theme, have you ever think in play Arabian Knights by Siouxie And The Banshees? This song has a spectacular riff and I´ll enjoy listening to you.
Nice tha
Hey Adrian can you do there she goes again by the Velvet Underground? No ones done a proper tutorial yet. Been watching you for years your stuff is great.
Can you please do every dream a heart ache please adrien🥺🥺
can i puchase the tab?

Plz birthday party
Ha, yeah, I almost missed that--I had to back up and see if I had correctly heard Adrian say "maybe I'll do some Birthday Party"!
Daniel Tosh said he hated Nick Cave in one of his shows.
You found people who dislike Nick Cave?
purdi
Being polite hete, really dont like Nick Cove. He hasnt made a decent album since Lyre of Orpheus, in fact his last 4 albums sound the same as each other , also his pathetic and insane outburst at Roger Waters and Brian Eno when he defied the BDS protest for the Palestinian people is just the bollcks. What, is he Elton John for heroin addicts these days? (Elton played Sun City)
I dont like nick cave
Awesome and moving.
Why not on Spotify?
I've always loved The Bad Seeds/Birthday Party/Grinderman and all things Cave related, but I'm a bit intimidated by trying to learn any of their guitar parts. Blixa and Roland were each such abstract players that relied more on texture and atmosphere than any sort of conventional "rock guitar" stylings. It's kinda hard to know where to begin with this stuff. You did an excellent interpretation of this, though, as usual!
Beautiful
“Who doesn’t love Nick Cave?” A pleasure for the ears Adrian!
