Danica, As a frequent rider on Amtrak I must say you seemed to have it all together. I try to get a deluxe sleeper if I can. It has it's own shower and toilet in the room, way cool! As I am over 70 now for me this is the only way to go. Last year we went from Milwaukee to New Orleans on the City of New Orleans. I hope you got a chance to see some of the sights in New Orleans. We took in the the WW2 Museum while we were there, also the Aquarium. Both we very exciting. Great narrative BTW. Thanks for the tour of the train and the hotel. And thank you for sharing your trip.
Just adore this video. Danica comes across, to me, as a grown 3 year old. Always fidgeting, always moving, always talking. I would love to sit down and have a conversation.
The new Viewliner sleepers that are entering the fleet to join the older ones don't have the toilet in the Roomette. I never used mine, I used the public one at the end of the car.
very cool, I've traveled from Denver to San Francisco in a sleeping compartment with a shower in the room --- VERY nice to have!!! I loved it and would do it again anytime!!!
You really did a great job on this, Danica. Very well produced, entertaining and informative. I'm thinking of this trip so I appreciated your experience. We took the Caledonian Sleeper (aka The Deerstalker) from London to Inverness and absolutely loved it. Happy travels.
Wow, a transcontinental train trip, with a transfer in New Orleans. That would gave been so cool , if It hadn't been sold out. Amtrak is my favorite form of long distance transportation. Rather than flying , and seeing clouds most of the way, you get to see the transition between the various regions of the country. 👍👍🚄🚂
Great video! So glad this showed on my feed. I’m planning to go to NO on my own but not sure if it’s safe. Also since you got in so late, they reserve your room at the hotel for you if you don’t check in early and are late?
If you know ahead of time that you want to travel by train (and especially if you can be flexible as to when you travel), try AmSnag (Google "AmSnag" for the link to the site), which can look up all the possible train fares (both coach and sleeping car) from point A to point B for a period of 1-30 days. It's kind of like those travel "shopbot" websites for airfares and hotel rooms, but for train trips. (Not quite as fancy yet, though.)
I took Amtrak may 6,2020 seemed like the trip 29 hours from newark nj when i arrived in new orleans everything shut down I just walked around 3 days downtown and went home .
@@edricwallace7696 The trains are (mostly) still running, but whether or not one can do anything in a destination city is pretty iffy right now. Praying all parts of the country can reopen over the next few months!
Enjoyed your video! I watched the video that you made when you traveled to Canada by train. I really enjoyed that! On this trip you did know that there were shower facilities for those staying in roomettes? Just wondered since you didn't give a tour of that. Thanks for doing this video!
Hello . I want to ask you . I have a friend who is not US citizen . You think is secure to travel in this train ??? He lives in philly and of course he wants to com back home
you rode on a sleeper cart … i just did this ride in coach and it was hell … do NOT attempt this long ride in coach .. i was sick for 2 weeks when i got home.. probably from the filthy stinky bathrooms .. and i couldnt sleep because some crazed chick was kicking the back of my sons chair ( she was thrown off the train) and people just talked all night
Prices vary considerably with all transport options, cruises, airlines, buses, and trains. Much depends upon the day of the week of the trip, how early you book, how full the train is, whether school is in session, and whether the trip is during busy holidays. Check out Amtrak's website and use several days for the best price...
I've loved trains since I was a child. Its like a movie looking out the windows and a moving house at the same time.
Wow, woke up and booked a same day trip, I luv it! I’m heading back to New Orleans soon, you have me excited for my trip!
Great vid, new sub.
Just booked my trip From NY to LA via NOl on the Crescent-Sunset Limited in July. Looking forward to it

The music is too loud to hear your voice clearly, hon. But cool video.
Anyone done this as a round trip? 60 hours. I'm thinking about it as can't afford single flights to and from UK.
Very nice video
What a great idea! Maybe one day, I'll do the same.
If your friend wasn’t out there with u, would you still had went by urself?
