So here it is, my second WoW Classic Mage PvP movie :) The video is a mix of World PvP and Battleground clips. Unfortunately, it is a bit hard to find good World PvP on Gehennas Horde due to the server popularity, layering and horde:alliance ratio.
All the Searing Gorge PvP Clips are recorded during Phase 1, so everyone including me has bad gear.

as a former multi glad arena mage from TBC into the end of WOTLK, ive always kept up with wow through videos and was first inspired by vanilla mages. You are very entertaining to watch and think outside of the box when it comes to ability use, its not just generic blocking death-coil highlights. There is lots of subtleties and you make me long to play again, great video.

Started WoW 5 days ago due to an irl friend recommending me trying WoW... i chosen frost mage as my first toon.
Seeing this... i have chosen the right class for me!

Mage is good cause it has a versatile kit but high skill ceiling. So its probably one of the, or the best pvp class in the game.
But only if you actually are good at it.
Othe classes might be better than mage pvp, but they have low skill ceiling you cant really add something to it.
Well atleast I heard that and thats also the image I got after playing against some people.
Some classes will just bully you early game when you still dont know what they can do, so be ready.
YOu have to know what their tricks are, so you can counter them.
The game needs gameknowledge for sure. So be prepared to die a lot, especially before lvl 30.
Mage really only gets online at lvl 30, because then you get the talent ice block.
Thats when you can outplay properly.
Well atl lvl 20 mage is also good. But at 30 it really starts in my opinion.
Then yo have cone of cold, ice block, counterspell, blink, things like that.
Before you have cone of cold and blink, mage really isnt online in my opinion, like at all.
Hunters will just bully the sht out of you.
Cause you have to fight hunters in their "deadzone" for example. Thats when you fight them almost melee, but snare them with frostnova, so they cant melee you, but also cant range you.
But usually you get slowed.
So you have to blink into them to get into nova range, if you dont have blink, its really really really hard to fight a hunter.
I also dont advice playing low level battle grounds. Since all the people there have Twink gear.
They will shredd a mage.
A mage doesnt really need gear, he needs levels so he can have his main spells, like I just said with the hunter scenario.
But the hunter at lvl 20 can have an insane bow and just shredd you, while you cant even reach him.

Just started leveling a mage on classic. Have never had a max level mage. Used to get to level 20 all the time when i was a kid as kids do. Theres nothing I love more though, than an old school style PvP video. The nostalgia is real.

Mage has always been my fav class to watch PvP montages of. It took me 2 expansions to finally decide to main it tho, no regrets :) M.A.G.E. !

How do have frost bolt changing back and forth to scorch?
For key binds is having a system not needed, as long as you know them and can reach them? Also do you use a multi button mouse like a razor naga or do you mainly use your keyboard?
I use Razer Deathadder, had a Naga back in the day when they released it but I didn't really like the side buttons. Not sure if I have a specific system, but I feel that some abilities which you use together are good to be in the same button. For example I have Sheep keybound on T, and S+T is my CS. V is my Frostnova, S+V = Cold Snap. 3 for Fireblast, S+3 for CoC, CTRL+3 for R1 FB, ALT+3 for R1 CoC etc..

Mr greatwizard, question. you have frostbolt and scorch on 2 and it interchanges. do you change it with a mouse keybind?
it's a modifier macro to save action bar space, 2 = frostbolt, shift + 2 = scorch, ctrl + 2 = scorch r1

@Greatwizard I'm trying to improve my mage gameplay. Can I ask: What is the reason you often open with CoC against melee classes (instead of frostnova then CoC for higher crit chance with shatter)?
if you do frostnova > coc and they pvp trinket or escape artist after then you can't slow them, so I try to have either available to counter the trinket

I love you and I hate you for that AB mine defense at 11 minutes. That's why I am going to be guarding mine as soon as I hit 60 on my mage this week, lol. I honestly can't take 15 minutes of these masterpieces. The 2-3 min videos are more manageable so I'm not saying "damn...he's still killing them!" for a quarter of an hour. Keep up the good shit and don't quit wow and don't stop recording. You have that old vanilla PVP flavor that we've been hungry for. Good shit

Watching you play outnumbered is great fun, especially considering how relatively undergeared you are.
Also, for world pvp on gehe I'd just go with Silithus - at least for now. There's plenty of random pvp to be had in the evening in there. Been having fun there with both Lock and sham and gehennas Alliance there put up a fight ;)
Gear isnt really important for mages, they need their base damage and spells through levels.
Ofc gear helps and I get your Idea. BUt like gear isnt nearly as important for mages than for other classes.
But yeah, ofc insane plays by him.
@@sebastianszalma200 Gear is important against classes mage basically has to run down. Warlock, Druid, Shaman. If the gear disparity is too high and therefore your instants pressure too low, they will easily stabilize and kill the mage. Especially warlocks.
