- Опубликовано: 17 авг 2018
- No trip to Poland would be complete without a Vodka tasting! We decided to do sort of a DIY tasting at a really cool pub called Przedwojenna (Prewar). Then we finish up the day trying some Polish donuts called Pączki!
Vodka has been produced in Poland since the middle ages. And it's no surprise, to attain the label "Polish Vodka", it must be made with specific grains or potatoes grown in Poland. What's you favorite Polish vodka?

Traci Roberts you can try to look at Mark Wiens’ videos. He’s an American who’s been living in Thailand for many years. He got tons of videos about travelling and foods in Thailand.
Poland looks like such a vibrant country 😍😍 it’s definitely going on my bucket list now
You are very welcomed :-) Greetings from Poland!
If you want to try good vodka I have 2 recommendations:
* Żubrówka (vodka with bison grass) - it goes really well with apple juice. You definitely won't be disappointed by this.
* Soplica (brand) - Orzech laskowy (falvour - hazelnut). Try this with milk. It's better than a candy ;)
Good recommendation ;-)
I tried Zubrowka vodka & was told it was 180 per cent proof, not sure how it can be but did it blow my socks off!
@@thylacinenv No, Żubrówka is 40% ABV (80 percent proof?). Probably you have on mind something called Spirytus (~95% ABV). But it is rather not for consumption purpouses ;P
you know the stuff! both sound suggestions, love them both. I recommend a Wściekły pies (mad dog) will definitely give you a kick hehe
Żubrówka is a great vodka but It isn’t real Polish vodka :(

The paczki are round not like the pastry that they were eating . Just the Rose inside not some creams . That's too American .

Great Vid...really fun to watch!!
I love Polska so much! Can’t wait to see the rest of the vlogs
Awesome idea! Love a good DIY tour 😉 We should have done that while there, we didn't realise they had so many vodka flavours!
That is so amazing love your vlog Keep up the great work guys!👍😊
Me and my husband are loving the videos from this trip as he is a Przybylski. Keep up with the awesome content!!! Sending love from Texas.
Thanks, guys! You always manage to make your travels interesting, whether last minute or not.
Very beautiful place video. Nice food. Great work friends.
"milk vodka" was most likely hazelnut vodka with milk. Known as "Monte" in Poland. (brand of dessert "yoghurt" made of milk, hazelnut and chocolate cream)
You've also got "nalewka śmietankowa" - a friend of mine brought it once and it was awesome. Hazelnut vodka with milk tastes like monte, and they were talking about vanilla ice cream taste.
Such a great intro 😍 The whole place is gorgeous really
Great video! The vodka tasting was epic! Love watching you guys!!
How fun! I'm not a fan of vodka but it was entertaining watching you two try the different varieties, jaja! Nice video, guys!
Me neither. I never tried Vodka :)
I love when you two hit the sauce... very enjoyable to watch.
I started learning polish and i’ve worked a month in Bystrica Kłodska near Kłodsko and Domaskow. And this year after 2 years i go back.
Wyborowa and Żubrówka - love your vlogging style! Try rose flavoured paczki - the classic
I'm Polish and watching and I'm totally not cringing! Loving how much fun you guys are having in Poland, your own DIY taste taste seemed like such a good idea haha I want to do this with my bf - I visit every summer or so to see family so watching your Poland series is super comforting :)
You have done a good job navigating the details of local cultures in Poland
Love the video! Do yourselves a favor: buy some Żubrówka [zhu-broov-kuh] Bison Grass Vodka (one of the most famous Polish vodkas, but not available in the States) and mix it with some Tymbark Jabłko (Apple juice). It’s tastes just like apple pie (szarlotka [shar-lot-kuh]). You can find both at most stores in Poland, even most gas stations. It’s one of our favorites!
Żubrówka by itself is also fantastic. 😂
YES Zubrowka and apple juice is THE BEST!
Oh yes, Żóbrówka with apple juice is soo tasty ;-)
@@explorersi So, help me please, what is the best ratio, approximately, of vodka to apple juice? Does it matter? Cheers, and thanks.
@@timstewartuk honestly - it depends on your preferences:) For me best ratio is 1:3; for my wife 1:4 (of course "1" stands for vodka XD )
@@explorersi Thanks guys. I already have the Bison Grass Vodka (highly recommended), just need the apple juice. Have a good one.
Awesome glad you guys tried Paczki I was wondering when you will try it but you should've tried it with filling plum jam that is more original but glad you guys like it. Poznan is really nice city you will like it.
Nah the most traditional are with rose jam, but plum ones are good too.
Adwokat was always my favourite! The more traditional ones are with rose jam and they're really good, too. Can't wait for the next vlog!! Poznan is literally my home away from home 😃 next time you're in Poland let me know!
Just came back today from the vodka place you went to. Thank you so much for tipping me on the best vodka ever---the one with milk. 😃😃😃 so happy. Will go back for more tomorrow. Your video is the one that made me go to Wroclaw originally. Keep up the great work.
Congrats on 130k... :)
Looks like I should be looking at going back to Poland... You've shown me some fun ideas of things to do...
The fig w(v)odka sounds like an interesting drop... ;)
Another Fantastic video. it won't be long before I'm congratulating you again. Almost there to 150k Subs!
Nice vlogs! Greetings from Poland. 😊
You should definitely try Belvedere! Its one of the best polish vodkas🇵🇱 have a nice stay in poland!
Bartek Adamczyk ohhh yes😊😊😊
I vote for Belvedere. I live in Germany and this is my favorite vodka.
Polish vodka? I prefer Pravda. Chopin vodka is good also. What i do not like? All the flavour vodkas. Vodka should be clear and 40%. From potatoes or rye.
You can try Belvedere in the US...😅
Bartek Adamczyk so many great memories with Belvedere 😍 best 300€ ever spend in my life
Very nice a travel channel, I probably stay here, even if couldn't be more videos from poland. :D You are so nice, greetings
I remember having Advocaat (pronounced advocar in England) for Christmas, when I was younger, mixed with lemonade (Sprite) and it was called a Snowball. Very popular in the 70’s!
I love it when you say "legit". 😁 you guys crack me up.
Im from Poland and I'm happy that you pronounced the cities correctly XD also you should try some polish candy for a future video!
You should have tried Żubrówka. With apple juice.
If you guys are still in Wrocław please visit "Szynkarnia" and try their food (for example the cured meat&cheese platter) and alcoholic beverages (vodkas like for example: przepalanka, cysto kurwica, czorno kurwica, śliwowica and sweet plum vodka [don't remember the name]). I promise you won't regret it :)
Paczki!! We get those around Detroit for Fat Tuesday! My favorites are prune and custard.
Some of the Polish churches have Pączki balls every January or February. Yup it is a doughnut dance :-). We are looking over your videos because we may go over that way in the spring
Interesting video,Thanks
You NEED to try Zubrowka (the bison grass vodka)! Very unique flavor! And hazelnut vodka from brand called Soplica.
Before you leave Poland, definitely head up to Gdańsk and Sopot after you leave Pozńan. Gdańsk for the history and Sopot for its pier. It will be one of the highlights of your trip. 😊
And you must have gołąbki (go-wahmp-key) before you leave. 😊
My heart is so happy that you are in Poland! Enjoy every moment!
Travel, Food, Meeting new people, taste testing vodka, donuts = Livin the life!!
A friend of mine always says....If you could, you should!
So true indeed!! Have fun Adventurers!!
Your videos are great, thanks for sharing your adventures. How about doing a video on how you go about making one, what cameras you use to the editing process. Kind of a behind the scenes look. Also how you carry your camera gear and how you back up your footage.
Polish person speaking here - you should've ordered the tartare and herrings with a plate of breads! It's banging with a good selection of vodkas:
- Belvedere!!
- Traditional Żołądkowa with milk chaser
- Hazelnut
- Plum
- Żóbrówka (bison) with apple juice
Your vlogs are awesome ;)
You guys should visit Poland again to see Warsaw and Gdansk. Great that you visited Wrocław, my favorite polish city, and it was nice to see you drinking vodka ;)
That's my kind of tastin!! I'm not so sure of the milk one... humm! And all those little statues are cute! I would be in pickle/vodka heaven!!
Well ;) Yes. It is wódka for the stomach. In the far past it was used as the medicine. And it works very well. Sometimes better than todays drugs. For me the best wódka i Żubrówka ;) but it is very regular one. Soplica makes the best (for me) flavored wódka :) "Pan Tadeusz" is great as well. And Sobieski or Chopin wódka are very distinguish ones ;) Great video! Glad to see my city :D
Great to see you went for the rather dubious milky vodka, not sure I would have gone for it, especially when you could see it had curdled. However, after Allison's comments I would definitely give it a "shot". Interesting video as always and thanks for bringing us along with you.
Some of my best friends are from Poznan 😀 looking forward to the next video
Poland looks nice and the food wow
:D Your's eyes when you drink say more than 100 words. ; p I think you've got a little drunk. ; p Great job! : ) Greetings from Lublin ! :)
You can clearly see them getting happier after every shot.
Wohoooo! You’re going to Poznan! When I saw this I rushed outside and I am looking for you, Guys 😂🙈
You should try Kupnik. Had some in Warsaw and loved it.
fajny materiał hehe najlepsze było jak już ich kopło :-D hehe
Plain, regular wodka with cucumber pickled in salty water is my favourite.
Next time go to a regular shop (most supermarkets even small one have it behind the counter) and buy bunch of little 50ml bottles. My favourite is Krupnik quince vodka (PL: pigwówka). Write a list for the shop assistant in polish.
Zakopane Tatra mountains;) you have to go there (Morskie Oko, Rusinowa Polana, Dolina Strążyska) also You have to try polish cheese oscypek;)
Good guys !!!!
Great video
Hi guys!
Lovely to see that you enjoyed Wrocław and some traditional food and drinks. As for vodka tasting I'd recommend a place called Ambasada (which btw is right across the street from Przedwojenna) - it's also afordable, serve similar food and bunch of vodka shots, but has better interior in my opinion. As for the flavours I would also recommend the same brand - Żołądkowa - mint flavoured, which alongside hazelnut (no 1 and 2 in your video) is one of my favourites. For more elegant tasting try Chopin or Belveder. I'd also like to see you tasting just a plain, no flavoured vodka next time ;) Na zdrowie! (cheers!)
you should try fresh, warm donuts with rose jam in "Stara Pączkarnia" You can find this place in Poznań, Wrocław, Gdańsk and many other cities. the "pączki"are delicious 😍
Really enjoyed this video!!! As a child I grew up eating Pazcki (your pronunciation of Pazcki and Wroclaw was very impressive BTW) after going to Polish church in Toronto on Sundays. I hated them as I thought they were fake wannabe donuts. I wanted Canadian donuts! My mother said I didn't know what was good. lol She was right! Now when I visit a Polish grocer the first thing I look for is my beloved plum filled Pazcki.
Soplica Orzech Laskowy (hazelnut) with milk is my favourite!
Żubrówka Bison Grass with apple juice. The. Best. One. It has a grassy/cinnamon-ish taste. Great for shots and... with apple juice. Tastes like apple pie. You'll love it.
The music for your videos is really good
my favourite vodka is Wyborowa
nice video , btw .,,.
Thanks!
You must try "Śliwowica łącka" :) I recommend
The fig and milk vodka sounds great! 10 shots next time >:)! cheers
You guys really should try Polish Moonshine, Ask around if your not sure where to go get them, Cab drivers will usually be able to point you in the right direction.
We have in Romania too that kind of Vodka, but we call it palica or tuica, and it is a type of alcohool made from fermented different fruits , moastly plums. It is traditional and verry good, and we have also a sweet type made from cherries called visinata and has the fruits in it.We also have those type of donuts as tradition, we can have them plain or fillled with gem or a chease and egs salty mix, too bad you did not tried them in Romania too.
One of my favorite places in Wroclaw. You should try warm wine there, but thats goes for winter, i guess. In Setka Bar they got really good Tatar(raw beef with yolk, onion and cucumber) and Pyry Na Pieżynie(potatoes with cotton cheese). AAAnd most important Spiż for best beer in Wroclaw.
Thinking about it yeah the red vodka does taste like Jet Fueled Robitussin. My father I law had a flask of that stuff waiting for me when we arrived at their house. For the two weeks that we at my wife’s parents house in the Czech Republic (short drive to Poland
In the town of Návsí and jablonkov). I’m Brian the Alcoholic! We drink nothing but Czech beer and Polish Vodka. Hope you guys had plenty of kielbasa!
If you come back to Poland, you HAVE to try cytrynowka (lemon vodka), especially the homemade kind. My absolute favorite.
Zubrowka Bison Grass vodka is my personal favourite. I highly recommend it.
Of course you got pickles. You get pickles everywhere in Poland. It’s the best!
thank you so much for the hard work put into producing such beautiful and interesting content!! me and my boyfriend have been really trying to plan some traveling over my winter break (i’m still in undergrad- he just graduated) but we’re worried about $$ c’est la vie! i’m trying to convince him on Eastern Europe but he’s set on Western Europe (Spain, France, etc.) The place we most agree is his homeland of Portugal :)
If you are worried abut money, then eastern europe is much better shot, even ppl from germany that live close to the border come to supermarkets in Poland to save few Euros.
This first shot was a wódka with condensed milk (with sugar or without). The best combination is condensed milk with wódka taste hazelnut.
I saw it was getting a bit difficult to talk in the end. 🤣
I'm so hungry now haha! Also, I need a White Russian (it's 5'o clock somewhere) 🤣
You should have tried Wormwood vodka, about the closest thing you'll get to proper old Absinthe. There's an amazing vodka sample shop on the south side of the old town in Kraków with everything in old glass apothecary jars.
nice! when I go to friend we always drink one bottle of wódka, with picles and sousage or the bestits Flaczki for wódka, and later we go on city:)
You should try Żubrówka vodka with a bison grass straw in it. It’s Poland’s unique for sure.
You should have tried Soplica. It’s the best vodka, Mirabelka is my fav flavour
Advocat is great with vanilla ice cream
As usual a great video. In UK Advocaart is very much regarded as a Dutch drink that is drunk at Christmas, much like egg nog in the US. It is much beloved by Aunties and grandmas's who have it as a mixed drink with a fizzy lemonade (think Sprite) and is called a Snowball.
I have such a soft spot for snowballs. They were one of the first alcoholic drinks I was allowed haha!
In Poland it's similar, my grandmother makes the best adwokat! (that's the Polish spelling). I have a bottle full of it right now in the cupboard.
It's also quite common taste for sweets and cakes, you can find a few brands of chocolate bars with advocaat filling in Poland, advocaat layered wafers or advocaat caramels.
You are trying to drink "Mad Dog" is the first culture in Poland. This vegetables is pickled, just like România. I love town in Łódź near Warsaw.
Enjoy your trip through Poland !
Vodka and milk when I was young and dumb we called that a flaming cow! We also made it with coffee and called it a Jaun Valdez !
Most conventional and famous in Poland is clear plain vodka. There are so many kinds even on those. You have rye vodka, potato vodka, etc. Here they offered you selection of one brand which started with this yellowish "traditional" sweet one and than introduced other tastes. When drinking, one of the ways is eating in between shots so you wont get drunk so easily. Hence pickles. But also the foods they listed. You should have tried those with plain vodka. They are good. :)
Look at all the knowledgeable comments about vodka! I don't know much about it but I loved just watching your repartee as you went through the samples. And the background band kicking in with Allison's first sip was too much. :)
You guys reaction to the vodkas was funny
I think that filling looks like Eier Liquor that we have in Germany. They use it as a flavoring in the creme to put in Berliners.
You should have tried "Zubrowka", which is a very popular and traditional bison grass vodka. I'm not a fan, but the rest of my family swears by it.
when paczek is warm....is the best
