Flash floods are no joke! The wife and I almost got swept away, we were able to climb up high enough to be safe and wait it out. From the time we heard it and having to climb was about 2 minutes.

A decade ago, I noticed water puddles near the Delicate Arch. Later on, the park ranger told me two days prior to my arrival, the park had heavy rain. This flash flood video shows probably what I could have seen if I had arrived a few days early. Thanks for posting this video. Regards,

A lot of the time flash floods are from distant rainfall not local. Theres no plantlife to hold the water so it just flows like this with nothing to stop it until it reaches its lowest point miles away.

The turbulent flow highlights how features evident in the canyon wall just above the water level could not have been created by a constant small flow over a long time. Rather, they require a large flow, however infrequently. RIP Gradualism.
