Flash floods are no joke! The wife and I almost got swept away, we were able to climb up high enough to be safe and wait it out. From the time we heard it and having to climb was about 2 minutes.
I have been to many amazing areas around the world in my life. Arches, Needles, The Maze....Some of the best. Like walking inside a Dr Suess book. Amazing to see one aspect force of nature that formed such a spectacular area in action!
A decade ago, I noticed water puddles near the Delicate Arch. Later on, the park ranger told me two days prior to my arrival, the park had heavy rain. This flash flood video shows probably what I could have seen if I had arrived a few days early. Thanks for posting this video. Regards,
A lot of the time flash floods are from distant rainfall not local. Theres no plantlife to hold the water so it just flows like this with nothing to stop it until it reaches its lowest point miles away.
The bloom after a desert rain is magic. Nothing like it. The whole desert explodes in color in front of you, you can just about see the petals growing, then a day or so later it's invisible again.

The turbulent flow highlights how features evident in the canyon wall just above the water level could not have been created by a constant small flow over a long time. Rather, they require a large flow, however infrequently. RIP Gradualism.

A foot of water can carry a car away. I’ve seen what looks like fairly shallow water flows over large roads in Phoenix sweeping large palo Verde trees across them. Don’t underestimate the smaller creeks. Their power can sweep you off your feet.
We’re seeing how a lot of those beautiful organic shapes got formed in the rock over 1,000’s of years.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Exactly ! Only difference is..now there are people.
I wonder how many times the same droplets have flowed here.
Naaa, that just happened yesterday 😉😉😉. Just kidding.

I love that part of the US and the floods made it even more beautiful.
Canyonlands is my favorite national park in Utah! I’m glad I found this channel!
People often think of flash floods in terms of human tragedy, but I think they represent nature at its grandest spectacle. They are AWESOME!!

" Moab rocks "
After travelling around the world , Southern Utah is one of the greatest places on our planet .
Fresh rock hounding when it’s all done
I was always told the Arches were formed by erosion from wind and frozen rocks.
but I think ancient floods caused those Arches.
The debris that's carried down also just would bang-up the walls and carve them.
Looks pretty intense!
This does happens in most canyons! I guess that’s why it’s called a “ CANYON “ ! 😁😁
Makes me wish i could Kayak like a pro
From the Looks of things, I'd venture a guess that Water may have passed thru those gulleys before ?
According to the “climate change “ freaks this is all new and caused by people driving cars and using hairspray 🤣

Yeah, that's what happens when it rains and there's no soil to absorb it, lol.
I understand Moab got smacked too....
You can really see how the stone was shaped. God knows how many floods it tuck
actually it is the park rangers emptying the public toilet holding tanks all at once.
I'm going on vacation there for 2 weeks in November, hopefully everything is back to normal by then.
i went there with my fiancé on July 30th and everything was great! you should be ok
Or you might get some awesome footage of flash floods! Gotta think positive.

An abundance of foam was created.

Just north of Moab in Utah

I wonder if any gold was carried down by the flood?

Does that water flow into rhe Colorado.?
Ultimately, if not directly. The Cplorado flows between Arches NP and Moab.
Does anyone know where the water ends up? Powell....Mead
The Colorado then Lake Powell.

PFAS
Fortunately in this case it is caused by organic matter being stirred up by the flood.
