Magnificent Little Richard performance. I still have my grainy old VCR copy of this tired and awful beach party film, which I've hung on to just for this sequence. Collecting beach party movies is all about the songs, and this one makes "Catalina Caper" priceless.

American audiences never really knew what to do with his incredible talent or “flamboyance” as it was called, and perhaps he never did either.
I'd read about this , and figured Richard would embarrass himself ("Scuba Party"? C'mon!) , but , this is actually a good tune , Richard looks and sounds great (DIG THAT SUIT !!) , and the Go - Go girls look better than in most of these flicks.
Not sure if Natalie Wood was on that booze cruise, but, Im up in Canada, born too late, and despite current events, I'd have LOVED to have been born 25 years sooner so I could've lived during this era. @ensconse Ive seen a lot of comments on youtube of people critising singers from the 2000's being crap compared to the 60's, but ive NEVER seen anyone critising 60's singers for being bad compared to 50's singers. All 3 of those singers are extremely awesome.
