UPDATE: You can no longer use Dream Maker to compile your the game files. So after inputting your name in the text file for admin roles, do the following:
1. Go to the tgstation-master folder that was created when you unzipped the files.
2. Run the file named BUILD (it's a .bat file that will open a cmd window) and wait for it to finish.
You should now have a properly working server, all other steps remain the same.
do you still play ss13?
yo i'm having issues using the build.bat, every time i try using it, it doesnt make a .dmb file and it shows an error i have no clue about it since i'm not a coder or anything, when i try to build a .dmb file, it pop up i got 3 warnings and when i try to run my own private server, i cant setup or join my game since it only appears a blank box, i have no clue whats going on
i still dont get it can you please make a new Video?
i am now going to download russstation, monkestation, tgstation, goonstation, fulpstation and many more.
i downloaded alot more
oopsie.
I clicked thinking this was a tutorial on telecommunications, clever use of the tcomm sprites
after clicking I thought that I accidentally turned on a telecommunications tutorial
Amazing to see you making videos again. I learned everything from you when I first started ss13
I kind of want to set this up just to try and see how long I can live by myself on the station, and to get practice with the different roles.
Yeah me too, an easy way to learn the game
works perfectly fine! Nice, much simpler compared to other tutorials
hi
Editing out question since just redownloading and doing again worked.
Great guide!
Fantastic and helpful, I get this is an old video but it's probably better to splice out dead air rather than to talk about how dead it is (Or even talk about random stuff like how your day's going it's better than nothing)
It'll be good to practice jobs I don't play often, usually when I join a dead server the clown/assistant decides he's going to greytide the life out of me and torture me because no admins will catch him.
I have a problem with making myself admin, could anyone help me, i done the steps correctly and imputed my Ckey into the admin file
Just had some problems with building the dmb, but it was because my BYOND was out of date, had to use the beta version. Thanks, now I can learn some engineering without putting any life at risk
boy, perhaps with this tutorial i might be able to learn a role, instead of gettin griefed in the first 6 minutes from the point of spawning onwards.
(or puking bees cause virology is occupied by a *non-traitor fuckhead)
Yeah that shit is annoying, sorry it happens, bro, keep learning and doing what you can, eventually those players will get weeded out.
It can depend on what server you go on and how nice the people are on the server
Recommend Yogstation
Rarely see griefers
friendly people
not a hardcore RP server
tg, goon (when they work and arent non-responsive), and sometimes some other server, albeit most of what i tried to join had very few playable roles, and majority were just civilian roles, which i find unfun @@agentsteve8263

2021: I fucking died from a monkey with a scalpel
Thank you for all those useful tutorials !
Really helped me out
Big Tip :
If you're having the error :
code\modules\asset_cache\asset_list_items.dm:13:error: 'tgui/public/tgui.bundle.css': cannot find file
Or similar, You need to run the 'Build.bat' file before compiling on dream maker
Thank you! You're a legend!
holy you are a legend thank you so damn much
The system cannot find the path specified. is what i'm getting when i open the bat
@@sovietkanna5412 go to visual studio code, import the folder then run build inside
for me it was build.cmd. i used fulpstation code
Intructions unclear, invaded Poland.
All the pop-up UI screens are plain white for me, and it only happens in my server too. My friends are having it too
Same thing happens to me too pls help
did you solve it
@@Toprak426 i did not

Okay, figured out how to heal myself and mobs but say I blow myself to bits, is there a way to respawn my body without possessing another mob?
"BYOND hub reports port 8195 cannot be reached by players.

Anyone can help me?
Hey I was able to get it working by imputing the dmp location instead of the ip and port.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
goddamit, thought this was an actual telecomms guide
edit: you dont need to delete admin list (on most tg codebase), localhost(you) will be admin already
Can the next tutorial be how to set up a custom tcomms?
Nice video although I gotta say the tg server doesnt work for me, something seems to be missing. Ive solved this by installing the fulpstation version (i think its almost identical to tg)
UwU im admin now
Great video
How do I make rounds? Say I want to go a xenomorph round. Any help?
Thanks :D
Thanks a bunch
It says the tgstation.dme is being runned by another application, what i do? pls send help
Doesn't seem to work for me, i do everything you do, but it doesn't seem the game is booting up properly, it says connection failed and then just says it will begin shortly but the game doesn't seem to start.
Dream Daemon freezes and closes automatically whenever I click the "GO" button.
What version of Byond are you on?
@@vonner the latest available to this date.
@@Makarov13778 The new versions had fucked up Dream Daemon, switch to the older versions. (Update 513.1520 seems to work)
@@Makarov13778 This is where you can find them: www.byond.com/download/build/513/
Be sure to download the setup version so it automatically updates Byond for you.
@@vonner I see, thank you very much.
can you spawn in npcs for assisting in surgery, or just testing in general?
Yes, if you got to Game Panel and create mob, try searching for "human". You'll get a huge list of mobs but if you want a vanilla human then look for /mob/living/carbon/human. It should be towards the bottom of the list when you search for human. It'll spawn a randomized human with no AI for your experimenting pleasure.
@@Pengwynd Awesome, thanks a bunch!
@@FriezaSucks humans make great bomb vessels
Thanks bro
Need a guide for 2025 tbh , I try my best best but I can't because everything just is different. I try to get Fortune 13 working but it won't
I Just downloaded byond thingy and tried to press Play now button so i can join a server but its not working,I am New to this whole thing so idk what to do
im having a problem with a white box popping up when i try to do something, can someone tell me why or how to fix this?
What's the track you used in the background?
"File Select - Sonic the Hedgehog 3" I know its late, but for future adventurers.
Why does my character spawn invisible? Running at ultra speed too.
Ever figured that one out?
@@CourierAsy Yeah. I was having a bad internet. Also make sure to use 127.0.0.1:XXXXX The ''x'' is the port you get on your own program. Then follow the same things he did and you'll be connected.
Can you do a tutorial for setting up a server that friends can join?
do exactly this but port forward the port you wanna host on
@@lavalamp505 Can i use hamachi?
@@lavalamp505 And how to port forward
@@kurycovwolf depends on your router, no idea about hamachi. google how to port forward for your router
Once you exit the game and byond, how do you reconnect to your private server?
Re open dream daemon then run the server agai
please help when i click an vending machine it just shows a white cube and when i wait for a while
it just disppears
it's common. it does it for many functions. i don't know a permanent fix but alt + spacebar on the cube and press close.
doesnt work it says connection failed
set ur security to trusted in dream daemon
BYOND hub reports port 51575 cannot be reached by players.
A firewall or router may be interfering with your connection. For information on hosting worlds through a firewall or router, please visit BYOND Help or portforward.com.
how i fix this
You ignore it. It doesn't matter. Using 127.0.0.1:(Whatever port daemon is using) will let you connect.
Again dont use this tutorial if you want friends to join, that's not what its for. This is only for playing by yourself.
I was never able to figure out how to host a server anyone else could join. Second best thing is to look for a mostly dead server and join it with your friends. The negative of this is sometimes the round is ruined beyond playability and you can't restart the server
Ok, thanks
you need to port forward the port you wanna host on
I have beyond but I can't find anything like dream maker any idea how to find it?
use the search bar on your pc (next to the Windows icon) type "dreams" and they will be shown. or look into the folder where Byond is installed.
For some reason when i try to compile it doesnt work?? like it says theres bout 2 errors but at this point im kinda dumb halp?
Me too, have you found a fix for it? Will using an older version of BYOND fix it?
Run the .bat file then compile
How can your friend join
all the UI for tgstation and fulpstation is just a white blank screen. if anyone knows how to fix this then be my guest
Alt+space then close it, or reinstall the GitHub as there’s a corrupted file, if the file is fixed then everything would work, if you want to close the white box, alt+f4 the box, make sure your on the white box when alt+f4 or space, otherwise you might close the game
why 127.0.0.1? can i write something else? and if i want to open the server again i have to do the compile again?
127.0.0.1 is local
having issues with some functions just opening as white boxes and not going away, any idea on a fix or what's causing it?
*temporary fix* i found online, click/aim your cursor on the box and press alt + spacebar and press close. it wont work but you don't need to reset the game to do it.
same issue.
@@dittery I had a corrupted file, did a clean install and all worked fine.
@@teenis3352 which file was corrupt? the tgstation zip?
@@dittery no it was the tgui, thus why the text boxes ant UI for antagonist and pretty much everything else was blank
ye ye so good but.
how the fuck i do the server to play whit friends?
Give them the port id and and make sure it’s public
ttttthhhhhaaaannnnkkkkk yyyoooouuuu
is this work with other server like goonstation?
yes, but different method of install.
how to i set a goonstation server
If you find out please let me know
@@panickal i did find out, but the comment either: went under review, or got deleted by god knows who, cause i sent the link to the download.
so lets try this again, go to a link similar to the tg download here, but its goonstation/goonstation
open files, initial_setup.bat, dream maker, open environment, compile, dream daémon, load its environment (you need to change folders if you don't see it's executable)
and play.
@@juiceplease6260 Thanks for the answer. I'm not still looking to try a goonstation server for myself, but noted for the future!
@@panickal you should also note this for the future, you need to make yourself host. admins.txt, its empty by default.
@@juiceplease6260 ye I know about that, just had an issue with goon in specific
Anyone know how to do that for goon?
I haven't been in the SS13 sphere for awhile so this might be wrong but to my knowledge Goon is still closed source, meaning only the creators can host servers.
Goon had a leak a few years back, that allowed people to the grab files to host a now outdated server. I'm sure they're still around but I never messed with em.
@@Pengwynd ah, alright thanks for your time
@@Pengwynd after some digging around i found their tutorial on their wiki thing, it's possible I ran a personal server at least, gonna check things in depth later
