    What are the performer names and talents listed on each performance card used for? Are they superfluous or is there another part the game where the circus troupe performs per the explanation about the objective of the game?

    I know the box indicates you can play with 2 players, can you provide a brief description of what changes would go into effect? I’m really considering picking this game up as I’ve heard nothing but good things about it

    • @thediceyreview
      @thediceyreview  2 года назад +9

      It’s a super solid game and one I would definitely recommend. The two player game is still fun but not quite as good as the 3-5 in my opinion. I’ve still played it at two. Essentially each player gets three scout tokens, and to scout from an active set on the table you have to return one of your scout chips. If you’re out of scout tokens you can’t scout anymore which may cause the round to end by you not being able to scout or beat the active set. Still fun but different.

    Great video..still confused tho
    So if I have a run of 4 cards..doesd a set of 3 beat it or it has to be a set of 4? or it has to be a set of 5..but sets are stronger?

    • @thediceyreview
      @thediceyreview  2 года назад +2

      Thanks! In your particular example a set of 4 would beat the run of 4. A set of 3 would not beat a run of 4. In general if there are the same number of cards a set will beat a run. A run or set that’s a higher number of cards will win. So a run of 5 would beat a set of 4, but a run of 5 would not beat a set of 5.

    Thanks for your high quality production and detailed instructions. Clarifying question: If the active set of the owner comes back around to the owner, I understand they do not get minus points for cards remaining in their hand. Does the active set count as a show (positive points) for the original owner? Thanks!

    • @williamheaton652
      @williamheaton652 Год назад

      No, you only get points from beating the active set

  • @billf.7343
    @billf.7343 2 года назад +6

    Quick question (I don't have the game yet) but when you scout a 3 from a run of 3,4,5... Does the active run become 4,5 meaning it can be beat by just 2 cards?

  • @boardgamingzutendaal
    @boardgamingzutendaal 2 года назад +2

    so if you have one active card with a 7, you can show and play one card 8. And also if you have 3 cards with number 8 in the active set, you can also play and show with 3 cards with number 9??. gr. Jeroen.

    • @thediceyreview

      @@boardgamingzutendaal yes absolutely, then the next person could play anything, one card, a set or run, etc.

    What happened as if only one card showing on the table but the other player can't show a card or combbination larger than the one. The player scout the only card on the table (and show no more card showing on the table) or the player force to use the car to scount and show?

    • @CardboardBones
      @CardboardBones Год назад

      You can just scout the last card on the table. The next player then can only show on their turn.

    I have a question!
    If the cards showed are 6-7-8-9-10
    And the next player does scout and show, where they take the 6. And then they show the same sequence 6-7-8-9-10. Is that allowed?

    • @thediceyreview
      @thediceyreview  2 года назад +2

      So your example is a tricky one. I believe the answer is that they wouldn’t be able to play that sequence. The rules say “if both the number of cards in the set and the type of set are the same compare the smallest number card in each set. If your card is higher you may show the set”.

    • @Wattsini91
      @Wattsini91 2 года назад +12

      See I think they would, only because a 5-card run beats a 4-card run, and when you take a 6 from 6-7-8-9-10, it becomes a 4-card run

    • @curtisrobinson7962
      @curtisrobinson7962 Год назад +1

      I was going to say, that's an easy question.
      A five card show beats a four card show.

    • @Stu_1977_SEmelb
      @Stu_1977_SEmelb Год назад +1

      This is the the subject of strong debate which, as far as I'm aware, even after scouring the BGG forum posts, is still unresolved to this day. The rules are a rather ambiguous on this issue, even self-contradictory to a point, and definitely unclear. At one point in the rule sheet it says that the active set to beat is the one on the table at the beginning of your turn. But it also says that once a card has been scouted then the remaining cards on the table become the new active set to beat.
      I think that every group with whom I've played this game also seem to have missed the part about the unbeaten player not losing any points for cards left over in their hand. I'm pretty sure that we've always played with ALL players losing points for leftover cards in their hand... 🤔 So good to know we've been getting that wrong the whole time. 🤦‍♂🤷‍♂

      @@Stu_1977_SEmelb Don't you have to decide what action you're doing at the start of your turn, before you scout? Unless someone decided to scout and show, they probably just chose scout, so they can't change their mind and decide to show. Unless you don't have to decide

    Sorry, it looks like this video has more then 100 smaller videos pieced together, the cards keep jumping and it makes me loose all concentration. Can't this be made with 2-3 continuous shots? Not that hard

  • @seang9401
    @seang9401 2 года назад +4

    Is there a way to signify what side of the card you are using when you show a single card? Or do the players just have to remember? (Not that it would be hard, but wondering if that ever gets confusing?)

    • @thediceyreview
      @thediceyreview  2 года назад +4

      So there’s not an official solution that I’ve seen but what we do at our table is we take an unused chip and place it near the side that is the active side so everyone remembers.

    • @thediceyreview
      @thediceyreview  2 года назад +1

      No other use than just thematic flare. The theme of the game I think is that you’re putting on a show with circus performers and their names/abilities are adding to your show?
