I just founf this instrument at the renaissance fair. I have never heard a more truely enchanting sound before. It is truely the sweetest sound I have ever heard ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love the soft charge of energy circumambulating throughout these melodies and harmonies, wow! and when the cello reappears about four minutes in, it sounds like a woman's voice, pealing. So many surprising turns, and always the perfect percussion, pulsating, pulling the song along to its climactic end! Perfection.
I love not just the music itself, but the fact that you connect with your fans a lot more compared to other, more well-known artists. I appreciate that connection on an equal level with how much I appreciate music in general. Keep up the good work. 👍
Mis respetos que bonita melodia nunca supe que existia un instrumento tan dulce como el Dulcimele.. Mis respetos a estos Artistas.. Son geniales me quedaria escuchando tan genial melodia toda una vida y no me aburriria...
My compliment is just the truth. I watched it again just now and once again was deeply touched and very grateful you and your friends exist, you make life better, more enjoyable, so be blessed! I really wish you the best!
Iluv Merengue Thank you 🙏🏻 That is so special to hear :) Thank you for the multiple spins and comments. I’ll pass your comment on to my friends as well. By the way, I just released a new album you may enjoy, “Pure Hammered Dulcimer”, you can check it out here: joshuamessick.com/product/pure-hammered-dulcimer/
@@JoshuaMessick Thanks for letting me know, I just ordered it! However, I have to let you know that I didn't like the check out process. I can't remember having to read the Terms and Conditions when ordering anything online so it seemed like an unnecessary requirement to me and I wondered about the why of it when the site makes it clear returns are not accepted.
@Iluv Merengue Thanks for your order!! I can’t wait for you to give it a listen. I appreciate you. Also, thanks for the feedback! The checkout is setup to meet the new requirements of both Google and GDPR Compliance :-) You'll start seeing this type of checkout more often on websites in the future. Yeah, it's a bit silly, but without it Google will penalize my search engine rankings.
Congratulations. You music is such a lofty inspiration. The blend of music and videotography is phenomenal. I am a new hammered dulcimer you are such an inspiration.
What an enchanting piece of music. Thank you for sharing. I especially liked seeing and hearing the dulcimer as a part of a group. It fits right in, methinks. A new fan to the mountain dulcimer....
I really want to thank y’all kindly for this beautiful video and fine music! It made my day and week! My words fail me for how good this really was! I stand in earnest waiting for the next brilliant video and music project! So excellent! Ross The Santa Fe Man!
I just found this instrument thanks to Tumblr and I must say, I'm in love. It has such a calming sound, Especially when paired with cello, and your playing really draws out the wonderful sounds.
Joshua Messick I actually listen to them while I’m at work. I just go to your channel click on watch all and I listen. I do glance up once in a while to see what I’m missing.
Donna DeMuro Thank you! I appreciate all of your spins. Your support helps put food on the table! I also have 7 albums with lots of music not represented here on RUclips. If you’re ever interested, you can check those out here: joshuamessick.com/product-category/music/
Hi Joshua, I put this piece on...loudly and looped and opened up YT again and played the same, Mountain Laurel a few secs later, played together and it is fantastic !
Terrific Josh! Really alive and well done. Special kudos to cellist Ryan. Wonderful. I especially like the section in the middle with the birds and bugs and frogs. Excellent video.
Max Dyer Thank you, Max! Thanks for taking your valuable time to watch and comment! It’s encouraging to hear you enjoyed it. We worked hard on it and it was a ton of fun to create. Ryan highly respects your cello playing and was honored to receive your kudos. I appreciate you, Max!
Your welcome! Music runs in my family's blood. My grandfather was founder and head of IMEA (Illinois music educators association) so I love all sorts of music. Especially jazz and acoustic. I was first turned onto the dulcimer in the mountains of Cherokee north Carolina back in about 1996. I've loved the sound of it since! Keep up the amazing work brother!
I imagined a traveling knight and his fellow companions reaching a peaceful village where they are able to relax and enjoy themselves after a long and difficult journey.
We’re revamping our RUclips channel and as part of the changes we’ve created a brand new playlist featuring the super talented Tribe of Noise community musicians. We’ve included this song in our playlist and would love for you to check it out!
Ok, I’ve had this fantasy for a while now, what if you played the song “patience” by the Lumineers on a dulcimer, it sounds beautiful on the piano, and the dulcimer automatically nocks thing up a few levels in my book. I don’t know just an idea, but something I would love to hear
Colin George H Thank you, Colin! Rich Mullins was an amazing person and player. He is missed. Thanks for watching. Please stay connected - JoshuaMessick.com
Thank you for your music. I just got a hammered dulcimer on eBay and it's my first one... I'm excited to learn. Do you prefer light weight hammers or heavier hammers?
Congratulations on your new instrument! I wish you the best. Hammers are a personal preference. There isn’t a clear-cut answer. But, I would suggest lighter. The goal is to draw the sound out, not push it in. Good luck!
Beautiful Joshua! Just found your music, and this title in particular resonates with me since my newest historical novel, also titled Mountain Laurel (set in the NC of the 1790s) releases in September. Your music transports me to that story world. "It is the soundtrack of our stories" indeed!
Lori Benton It is so special to hear this! How cool! Life in NC is the best. Stephanie and I would love to read your book. Please get in touch with me at JoshuaMessick.com
Jamie McFarland The DulciForte is a 5 octave instrument (A1-A6) available with several configurations. If you’ve got more questions or interest in the instrument, I’d reach out to Master Works masterworksok.com. Please let them know I referred you.
I know this probably wasn't the point at all, but holy _frick,_ that's gotta be one of the coolest millipedes I've seen in my life.

I thought this man was Scottish, but the nature footage seems to be a forest in Mid to Northern Ontario. Maybe he's a Scottish lad in Ontario?
I was born in Texas and spent years living in North Carolina, where this was filmed in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I now reside in Colorado.
You have 2 different dulcimers in the video. Want manufacturer and models are they?
Jamie McFarland Thanks for watching! They are both Master Works DulciForte dulcimers. They’re just different colors and soundhole inlays.
Best,
