Thanks for sharing your story Kenji. I honestly have the opposite problem. It’s funny you’d think being extroverted is an advantage but not in a world where it feels like everyone’s busy and I work a very independent remote job! For a while I thought I’ll just focus on myself and I don’t wanna rock the boat, but lately I’ve realized I need to get out more for my own well being. Being stuck inside makes me feel depressed. People are wired certain ways and you have to listen to what your gut says is right for you
Hi Kenji. I’m 44 and still cannot go grocery shopping by myself. I think people have become much more accepting of social anxiety which has made me feel less insecure and embarrassed by it these days. But I still always think about what it must be like to be “normal” lol
Hey man I hope you overcome your social anxiety, you can start by practicing being social and make a compliment about something another person has, when you really mean it.
Just start somewhere there, and overtime if you do it consistently, but don't force yourself to do it just if you see something you really think is cool or something you like about another person, try giving them a compliment.
Looking through this again - you're right in realizing that people don't really care about others but when it comes to judging them, then yes they do care and I'm very certain they have an opinion of you. Whether its positive or negative doesn't really matter but the opinion and thought is there.
That "ice breaker"? is your basic nightmare scenario Lol or any forced social situation really... vs an organic passing social encounter. You can be a shy person, but if you feel inclined or inspired somehow, can make a funny crack for instance to someone in a check out line and exchange a bit of chit chat. It's a totally differnt thing than those captive situations, like a party. But it's prefectly okay to be shy though. When you say that women don't like shy guys, that is not correct I don't think, nor do you have to "fake it" by acting like you're not shy. Someone can be completely charming and shy. Maybe you just haven't met the person who sees you yet.The worst thing about being socially anxious is the avoidance. As long as you make sure to get out and engage that's the impoirtant thing. But I agree, it is exhausting...
I feel like social anxiety only gets worse with age as we are so in our thoughts always wondering about what others think of us. Especially if we have no career or anything to show for the amount of time we've been alive for. That's what hurts the most knowing that we didn't fulfill our potential; but perhaps everything was already determined from the very moment we were born.
Aye bro wish me luck, I might be working alone with my work crush tonight and I'm planning to give her a gift I got her from a concert.(I have social anxiety about giving the gift to her)
1:41 what's the story with the earring bro? U seem to be an overly nice guy with soft demeanor who likes to stay at home, but u have earring, and that's one of the traits of a "bad boy"
You have low testosterone. You should look into testosterone injections they will change your life. In the meantime you need to lift very heavy weights. Try to get your bench to 225 pounds
Your stories are very relatable! I am the same way
Introverts tend to hate small talk.
