    Don't want to feel every bump?
    Get the Suntour SP12 NCX suspension seatpost. It's not cheap, but it works. I swapped from a normal Marathon Plus (1.75") to the Tannus Aither 1.1 (also 1.75") - that is the tyre Specialized are using here, rebranded as Nimbus - and as far as the harshness goes, with that Suntour seatpost on - I couldn't tell any difference. What got me though when trying out the Tannus tyre was, it feels weird, like it's wandering about over the road surface... but people have said it's just something you get used to. My main worry would be spokes breaking but, the Specialized has no suspension and 32 spokes, that are probably 2mm. My (eBike) has 36 spokes that are 2.5mm wide and it has that suspension seatpost, which surely helps to protect the rims when using these solid tyres.

    I really like the airless tires. I love a little maintenance but I'm also looking for Speed this bike seems to have both

      I have to agree I know several people who have purchased this by for the ease of maintenance especially the airless tires. Most people think these tires feel just like a real tire. I usually get to comment after a few months of riding this bike they come back and tell me just how fast they can get across town. I think specialized in a good job of making a bike that was rock solid virtually worry free riding or yet still incorporates enough performance to get around town or down the bike path with loads of speed.

      Having owned two of these (and sadly, given both away) I can vouch for what you stated.
      I forget these are puncture proof tires when I'm riding. It's so smooth and it's very reassuring, knowing that I can over nails, thorns, etc. and not ever have to worry about a flat.

    I’m looking to purchase this exact model lol where can I find it. Specialized site is down

      Yes I experienced a specialized site going down for a bit myself. Later in the day I did see it back up. The alibi is a very popular model that is being phased out You would be lucky to find one at your local bicycle shop at this time it's such a good rock solid bike for the money most of them have been sold. Biloxi bicycle works in Biloxi Mississippi has a small selection left on the showroom floor to sell. The best bet is to call your local bicycle shop and see if there's one available because I don't think you can order them on the specialized site anymore at this time

    This was a good review on air in bike tires. Do you have anything on the Specialized Alibi Sport?

    It's great to see affordable bikes being reviewed. Nonetheless, from what I have been reading, bikes below $600 are a bit tough to find right now. I hope once the virus has passed, people will still be riding.
    I see you mentioned Biloxi. Is that where you are? I grew up there.

      Hey Peter, you are correct, we are located in the Biloxi area. The virus is impacting our group rides at this time, but next time you visit the coast, you should make plans to come ride with us. Bart is the one you have seen in the videos, and he is one of the owners of Biloxi Bike Works, so we are easy to find. biloxibicycleworks.com/

      Great. I will do that.
      I was in Biloxi in January. I rode right past your shop on a quick morning ride before I left town. www.strava.com/activities/3056495152
      I hope you are free of all the construction now.

    What about a single speed bicycle that's lite and fast.

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +1

      I have some single speed bicycles and do use them from time to time but I don't like limiting myself to one gear. Many of my friends that ride single speed after a while feel it in their knees. I do like the simplicity of single speed and it is light I really admire some of those guys that are true single speed gods but myself I prefer to have a few gears to help my body push through a big climb or strong headwind. The bicycle is definitely an open canvas and you can paint it any way you want so this is just my opinion. I do like single speed and the simplicity but for me give me some gears Thanks

    People who don't know if they should put air in the bike tires, shouldn't be riding. :)

    • @TheBicycleRider
      @TheBicycleRider  4 года назад +1

      It's amazing how often I see people riding without properly inflating their tires. I think some people that are new to biking expect a bike to hold air pressure similar to a car tire. I recommend checking pressure before each ride. The bikers in our area are really great at helping each other and teaching tips like this to the newbies. Thanks for your comment, maybe this post will help someone.

    The airless 'tires' are terrible. While seemingly a good idea, - and maybe so for people who never actually ride or take care of their bikes, or on a rental bike- If you actually enjoy riding and put miles underneath you, they are pure misery. You will feel every bump and crack in the asphalt jolting your arms, spine and kidneys. They turn a leisurely ride into a test of endurance. They also have terrible traction in damp or wet conditions. They are also heavy. This is after trying hard to like them.
