Yep this is really the core issue with the film. This is a Seven Samurai retelling which is fine but in a Seven Samurai story you actually need to..yknow, DEVELOP THE SEVEN SAMURAI 😂 The fact that the warriors have like 0 dialogue with eachother or any development beyond their introductions is flippin insane. If this franchise wants to succeed in the slightest, we need REAL characters.
I'm a fan of Snyder's work but this did not hit. In a fantasy world, the universe can only feel as rich as the characters through which we experience said universe.. So if your characters are flat, the world will be flat too.
@@prolastmedia6171 The Seven Samurai was a more organic, smaller scale movie than this yet the run time was... 3h 22m
Yeah this is absolutely a fair comparison to make. Comparing a sci-fi majestic epic to an action adventure movie made in the 50s... Oh and the sci-fi movie had in this case a run time of 2h 15m...
Absolutely non comparable but be my guest. Compare a complete story like Seven Samurai to a part 1 variant of a story like Rebel Moon.
Or humour me and watch 1h 40m of Seven Samurai and tell me the movie is pure greatness and everything makes sense. Than watch the remainder of Seven Samurai and tell me it's the exact same as the first half. I'll wait.
All part one has taught me is Snyder needs a screenwriter. All this to just boil down to being seven samurai/ magnificent seven gives me such an aneurysm.
He has screenwriters. He just ignores them just like Micheal bay who supposedly had an entire board of writers.

Netflix "we have star wars at home"
Anyway.. they made the center piece of the story the biggest plot hole of all:
They figured out faster than light travel, advanced robotics, human cybernetics, etc ...
But they can't figure out farming? bruh
Not to mention "we have the biggest space armada in the galaxy and could easily wipe them out........I know, let's go have a fistfight"
It's like an intergalactic version of "hobbs and shaw"😂
The problem is that he just copied The Seven Samurai where farmers hire samurai to help them against bandits who want to steal their crops. He changed the samurai into rebels and the bandits into an evil empire but the farmers are still just farmers. And of course that doesn't work because the scales don't match. I'm actually betting that the second movie is just about them defending the village sucessfully (like in TSS) because he's already been talking about making a third film and implying he wants to do four more (six in total).
@@chrisjones-im1lxSnyder even showed that in the first one that the Netflix Empire’s budget Stardestroyer can easily destroy that weird alien king’s planet who sheltered the Bloodaxe crew so it’s kinda stupid that the villagers want to fight with knifes against a space turret.

Zack Snyder really puts so much into the visuals of all his films that all trailers that are used to promote those films look great. The problem is there is very little story or character development that ties that beautiful imagery together to tell a compelling story. Its a feast for the eyes, but the mind and heart are left famished. This was the problem with the first installment of Rebel Moon. I will give part 2 a chance, but I am not getting my hopes up too high.

because of what jimmy mentioned about the slain king and queen, I have a theory Kora knows a little more about what happened than what was revealed in part 1. as if zack wanted to let us in on only enough part 1 but part 2 more is revealed about what happened with Jimmy, Kora, the mother world as well as who specifically is responsible for the deaths of the king and queen.
It’s very much strongly implied Kora was responsible for the assassination. In the sense she was set up. That’s why she is the most wanted fugitive in the universe. And also lines up with the reference about the king being slain by an off-worlder.
The senator who took her, and then ultimately made her successful, and had her placed in the Kings guard, was very much playing the long game .

Part one felt like it was supposed to be epic... but since we had zero time to develop a connection with any one character... all the "epic" moments fell flat. Kora is the only one that I started to care about... but right as I did the focus shifted again and again. This should have been a story about Kora opening herself to love and happiness(periodically doing/saying things that immensely impress/frighten the farming folk) and about how the Admiral came to be who he is (tortured past?)... then this movie should have ended with that barn fight. I don't feel invested in any of it and the Admiral just feels like "insert ridiculous and over the top boss fight here"
IT felt like we were dropped in half way through a story, its pacing is ass.
Yeah I would’ve had Kora be an Imperium soldier in the movie. Not doing these exposition dump flashbacks where she talks down to us. Show her tasked with subjugating these farmers and then little by little she is opened up and the very end is her deciding to be a REBEL. Leading the way for this war movie part two where they find out their own crossed them and now they’re gonna send the house
I think Snyder should have made the robot a co lead in the film.

Damn! I was sooooo sick of the slow motions!!!! It was soo annoying to deal with that I completely forgot about other parts being bad. I'm pretty sure if you let the director, he would slow-mo a conversation too
If they cut the slowmo the movie would be half the length and he could of had more character growth so people actually care and remember the characters
I actually love the slow mo. Why some people are complaining about it is beyond me. Infact my favorite thing about the movie is the slow mo
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire is absolutely amazing and I'm going to watch it again and again.
And I am incredibly excited for Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver.
Really liked part 1. Looking forward to part 2 . Looks like we get to know more about the characters back stories
😂😂😂
@@METALMARK1000 god forbid someone likes something you dont.

Don't see how people thought this was great. The second part is going to be developing the characters which should have been done in the first part.
I enjoyed the 1st one. Nothing groundbreaking but just an enjoyable movie for me so I am waiting for the second one hoping that It will be as enjoyable as the 1st. Critics can say what the want so say for all I care
thats a great answer
It was a fun, brain-off type movie overall but can we please have a less predictable twist than the betrayal at the end of part 1? Also maybe just half of the slo-mo shots.
It basically is a Fast & Furious film without the cars. Which is not great, not even good, just a film that was made and you can watch.
Will they actually flesh out characters this time, or will they be hollow vessels again simply there to move you between action scenes?
You know the answer to this.
I totally enjoyed the individual characters, the natural conversation amongst warriors, not forced unnecessary jokes.. It's a brilliant movie for the part one.. Can't wait for part two.
Got an hour in then it struck me… it’s just the Magnificent Seven (with some story line adjustments)
Rebel Moon as a TV Show would’ve been a better choice, the amount of character development potential it had was immense but everything was rushed.
I agree
Love the Part one , can't wait for the two!!
You love trash?
I like it too. I don’t need perfect
@@justjake247nothing is perfect
Yes
@@user-dm2nx4yu5o Exactly!
Part 1 was so good!..epic!.
Ignore for once more the toxic fanboys/girls, that have caused so much harm to so many sagas and gems.., watch it.
Sofia Boutella is impressive. Her physical capabilities are limitless. She always excels in these kinds of movies. The movie looks phenomenal with the special effects. Djimon Hounsou also has an incredible physique. Looking forward to seeing this movie.
She's really not that impressive. She's a woman, and therefore boring to watch.
She can’t act for shit
Rebel Moon 🌒 part 2 looks amazing, waiting for it.
Now give us Rebel Moon part 1 director's cut.
yes the directors cut is coming and rated R
What's the point ...
IMO this is a good movie despite the critics.
If u like it then that's good. To have some people satisfied is better than no one is satisfied
Yay! You like a terrible film! Like how nobody has any personality or there are random slo mo shots or the villain has no character depth. Wonderful. Next your gonna say you like the last Jedi
I need this NOW!
(But seriously I need the director's cut of Part 1 NOW-NOW)
Saw part 1. Something did seem kind of off
The director did make this movie, what do you mean?
do your research@@reupsvideos
All I want is a Nemesis solo movie. Doona Bae is hands down the best part of Rebel Moon. She was great in Sense8 and Cloud Atlas!
Funny, I forgot about Sense8.
@@thanos7753 Netflix will do that
Her four lines of dialogue in rebel Moon certainly were inspiring 😂
@@Zigglemier Kaitlyn Dever had no speaking roles in No One Will Save You and she was phenomenal in that movie.

waow Rebel Moon part 1 is currently number 1 movie on netflix in 70 different countries.
Just watched part 1 yesterday. Can't wait for part 2
Very gracious of Netflix to put out a sequel to help people lose even more brain cells.
Part one was great- if it was longer and fleshed out the characters and locations , but love the concept of some new scifi
diablo: bien
I think the directors cut is like an hour longer
may be they will have clean lens and faster cameras in this one 🤣🤣
April 19 is way too far, I want it now😂
They should have taken the opportunity to release on 4/20 though 🚬
No one is going to care about this film in April. Part 1 was complete trash of a film. And why invest into part 2 if you got half a brain?
Dude you know you don't
@@yrazu05kay troll people will still watch it
@@KafuKemehhe's right tho. Part 1 was pure crap
My favorite part was when protagonist girl (who's name no viewer remembers) said "Its mooning time" and then she mooned all over those guys. Movie will make one moonillion dollars on Netflix! Scorcese is proud.
It takes balls to pit this against Dune: Part II, I’ll give them that
against?
its on netflix that dont count
Balls? Part 1 was absolute garbage. A train wreck. Dune Part 2 - or Part 1 - has nothing to worry about.
Streaming service and cinema two different things lol there is no competition
@@AllThingsFilm1 Disagree. But also disagree this is competition for Dune part 2. Rebel Moon is trash af
Vamooo!!!
translation.
Come on!!!
I already want to see it, I loved part 1 but it seemed short and left me wanting more. And it was obvious but part 2 looks much better.
And I wonder if the Director's Cut is from part 1 or will they combine both parts into the same movie with new scenes added?
Part 1 was - and Part II will be even more (or less) so!!
My favourite part is the sex scene in super slow motion that then speeds up just to go into Ultra Slow Motion and then ends with her screaming “MARTHA” at the end, true synder brilliance.

Part one was visually great but that’s all the praise I could give it. I think the issue was it tried to do a seven samurai story within a new world so 80% of the screen time was world building with zero focus on developing the characters. Almost would have been better if he focused on the seven samurai and then world built in part 2. I mean a good character driven narrative builds the world through the experience of the characters not monologues
Rebel Moon is the movie that fans of Zack Snyder deserve.
Nice trailer. It seems Snyder took a page out of James Cameron's arsenal. Kinda like how Mike's quaritch came back in avatar 2 after he was killed in the first movie. And in this movie Noble comes back from death as well. I do like the idea to keep the intensity of the movie going .👍
I don't know why many gave the first one unjust reviews although it was a solid movie. can't wait for this!
You need to release the directors cut to win more people over.
excuses for a shitty movie
It would need a complete redo for that 💀
@@chriscunningham8703 Well the director's cut is same universe completelly different timeline of events. So it is in a sense a redo of everything
@@chriscunningham8703Not really, the issue with his movie was that the characters were extremely underdeveloped, so if the longer version has more actual character work, the film would be SIGNIFICANTLY better. I do agree that this whole "wait for the directors cut" thing needs to end tho, idc if it's 3 hours long - release the good version the first time.
Win what? Some blood will not improve the bad quality of this soulless movie project
All the hate on Rebel Moon part one is crazy! I loved part one and can’t wait for part two!!!!
This movie rocks! All great actors here.
I'm fairly convinced that Rebel Moon as a whole would have been better as one movie with a beginning, a middle and an end, instead of two movies with lots of padding. A movie should never be a platform for another movie; it should be a complete story. Despite this, I am really looking forward to part two.
Thats because this movie was cut in half so netflix could have two parts, it should never have been released so far apart from part2
@@Livia3x I noticed it was split into two parts and that’s exactly my point. It would have been better to have one movie with an engaging story line as opposed to two movies that are somewhat off-course.
Really liked part 1 and wished part 2 was coming out sooner!! Looks great!
