Our ancestors used to hunt woolly mammoths and now we get sore wrists from coffee
😂😂😂
And they died at 40. When your 70 you will be glad if your wrists don’t hurt.
@@acksawblack Lol if my wrists hurt it won’t be from pressing wittle tiny coffee beans. Seriously how pathetic are people.
@@dantheman19601986 idk how pathetic people can be, but you seem like a shining example of the high end there
@@ziyair2998 I bet you wear a wrist brace to stir your soy latte
Maximum density doesn't exist. The only thing limited here is your power, you can actually make a neutron star from it. So keep on pushing
A coffee as black as a black hole
but studies have shown! he's saying it
🤓
You can technically turn anything into a neutron star, you just need a lot of pressure
No but the studies
It's relevant for professional baristas. They tamp hundreds a day, to serve other people coffee. It's the same as getting carpal tunnel from sitting in an ac room typing on your computer all day working a desk job. Every repetitive task has a better way to be performed. Every job has an occupational health risk.
Good point man, as long as they're level😅
“Tamping too hard is destroying your wrist”
“SpongeBob SquarePants!”
😂😂😂😂😂
Wait, it, it works, no way
Like if you sang it. Lol
I didn't even notice it was the same amount of syllables, that's so funny!
Holy shit theres no way all this nonsense matters
I bet they all taste the damn same
It depends on how much you like and know about coffee, now if your just needing coffee in the morning to get you going you prolly don’t care too much how it’s made as long as it’s quickly made, now if you drink coffee for the flavor and seeking to make the perfect coffee everything matters, so to most it’s stupid but to some this is their hobby and they enjoy it so let them do it
Right? And if your wrist hurts from such a minor task consider adding extra milk for your weak ass bones
It doesn't. Every time there is a double blind taste test the results are inconsistent and pure chance.
It does but you definitely don’t make or drink espresso so it doesn’t matter to you. Pretty simple
"Stop, you're killings your gains"
Lol daddy

I just want to sledge hammer the ground. I want it compact

Same
“You can’t tamp hard enough” 💀
I’m a barista do not do that 💀
Play both sides so you'll always come out on top ig
The thing is, if your grinder is calibrated correctly then there's no such thing as tamping too hard, meaning that it won't result in a less tasty espresso. But if you work as a barista and have to pull hundred shots a day then saying "don't push too hard" refers to "don't push way harder than is necessary, otherwise it's gonna hurt after some time". But in a home environment where you make one or two shots a day you can press as hard as you want to
oooh waaah my expensive coffee pwess is huwting my wist:(
We have life spans now that they could only dream of, and care more about our long term health, bc yeah, if you work as a barista for long enough, you can eventually give yourself a severe wrist injury that’ll make the rest of your life incredibly painful. Why do you hate other people caring about themselves and their health?
@@alinagrace4980 dear God I would love to see you work any kind of manual labor job.
@@alinagrace4980 if this is true then my arm should be destroyed by now, i lift 50kg (and this is really weak, there are people who lift 200kg/405lbs) and my arms are good, it's actually way better than before.
@@alinagrace4980 Because at a certain point what you care about isn’t in line with the human beliefs of that era. Like perhaps in the future, there will be a worry that writing letters isn’t healthy for your body but that’s when the technology is there to even worry about that and there is an alternative to even writing or typing. We as people are getting lazier and that’s perfectly fine because our technology is getting better, however, it is obvious that at this point in time, using your wrist to tamp down coffee isn’t a big deal and i doubt he has any sources backing up slightly using your wrist a bit more than usual will cause damage to your body. Sounds like bs.
@@reclaimer2019 people using keyboards can get RSI's, people doing heavy lifting can get back problems, people making coffees can get wrist injuries. It's not a competition.
Those saying this is silly have never heard of ergonomics before. Baristas have to tamp hundreds of coffee pucks everyday and that puts a lot of strain on your wrist. Like how slouching everyday will cause back problems eventually
Yup. I got dequervains tendinitis from it. Very painful.
Gonna cite those studies for me?
Yes, it’s published on barista hustle

Lol, after the “tennis elbow” i need to see the “barista wrist”
Nah bro, but waiter’s shoulder ain’t a joke
I actually had wrist and elbow tendinitis when I was a barista. The elbow problem was "backhand tennis elbow". Both very painful, required wearing braces (hard plastic ones 24/7 for the wrists)
“Studies have shown…”, you don’t really need peer reviewed papers to tell you that. Simply logic and maybe high school physics will suffice
You’d be surprised how many baristas struggle to take that on board though.
Worth noting that these studies are not peer reviewed, but only because it’s practically impossible in this industry to go through that process, let alone have the funding to. The data is there though, and credible.
@@NeutralMjolkHotel I mean, there's a reason they're the baristas.....

but this baristas have it hard
And that’s why most of the people you see in the ER are tradesmen lol. Research RSI, it can happen to anyone who does repetitive movements.
@@aaaaa-zc5hq "most of the people"?
I highly doubt that...Most tradesmen aren't gonna take a drug test after getting hurt, much less let the safety guy know about it.
@@buxe4042 Most people with RSIs don’t take drugs, perhaps only over the counter pain medication during painful episodes. I’m basically just saying tradies get injured a lot, and depending on the profession an RSI could be one of the common injuries. It’s nothing to scoff at, since in severe cases it can literally require surgery or you’ll lose a degree of mobility in your hand. I don’t get the competition, an injury is an injury- how you got it doesn’t really matter.
I remember tamping too hard and the coffee started to spill from the sides instead of going all the way through
I was always getting this wrong so I got a spring loaded tamper, they're not expensive and made it easy to pull consistently good shots.

This is for people who make coffee for others. If you just are doing this for yourself you wont be doing it enough to develop pain

about $0.16 cents for a shot and $0.32 cents a double shot
$1.79 every day is $644 dollars a year
$0.32 every day is $116 a year
$0.16 every day is $56 a year

Don’t be such a girl…
Grind those beans to dust.
Tamp with a hydraulic press, then crank that water pressure up to 300 bars:-)!
So your saying studies have shown you can only crush solid objects to a point?
I go light with my pressure and aim for the 20 pounds of pressure when tamping at home. If I was at work and couldn’t use an automatic espresso machine, I would probably go closer to the high end for more consistency 👍🏻
Amusingly, I found this video right above another of your videos, entitled "you can't tamp too hard".
You can't hurt the coffee by tamping too hard, but it seems you can hurt yourself.

Hi, welcome to how Italians, make coffee there’s a magical thing called a Moka pot. You don’t need to tap your coffee at all. You don’t need to aerate it you just put it in your twist the top and you put it on the stove with water in it and it makes espresso in about 5 minutes, best part is they only cost around 20 bucks not 400
Except it's not espresso. Moka pot produces max 2 bars of pressure. True espresso requires 9 bars. Nothing wrong with moka. I have three of them and use them. But it's not espresso despite what Bialetti and other moka pot makers like to call it. There's an Italian insitute that specs out what constitutes espresso.
@@RonDevito there is a SCAA definition of espresso but these days everyone ignores it and uses double the amount of coffee and longer brew times and messes around with various parameters including ones not mentioned by the definition.
But yeah, moka pot coffee is still not espresso, it's just an easy way to make coffee. Proper Italians go to espresso bars to get espresso.
All matter can be compressed to a singularity. Not all the coffee in that widget. All the matter in the universe.
