00:00 Why have I waited so long to make this video about divorce and remarriage?
01:05 This is a debatable topic, thus each Christian needs to act in faith (Romans 14)
02:41 Video summary: 3 common views about divorce and remarriage, which one I believe, “what happens if remarriage happens in an unbiblical way?”, and “what about abuse and divorce?”
03:39 The three common views about divorce and remarriage among Christians.
03:51 View 1: Divorce and remarriage can happen whenever you want.
06:06 View 2: You can divorce for two biblical reasons but you can never remarry.
07:51 View 3: You can divorce for two biblical reasons and you can remarry only if you divorced for a biblical reason.
08:47 I believe View 3 is the most biblical.
09:25 We should remember that divorce is never God’s first option for struggling marriages. It’s allowed in some cases but not commanded in those cases.
    12:43 Why I believe View 3.
17:01 What happens if an unbiblical divorce and unbiblical remarriage occurs?
21:37 What about divorce because of abuse?
28:09 We need to be humble and authentic when dealing with this topic. There’s no reason for us to divide over our differing beliefs about divorce and remarriage.
30:24 How are marriages formed? Through a state license, church ceremony, sex?

For me, this has been a very important message. 9 years ago my ex walked out on me and engaged, backed up by family and friends, in a campaign of harassment, bullying, and intimidation against me including using our infant daughter to get at me, before disappearing a few months later never to be seen again. Basically there's no hope for reconciliation. I am happy living my life without a spouse, but I'm not against the idea of the right person coming into my life if that should happen. In my opinion, I feel that if someone came along, I would need to gently test their spirit to see if this person is right for me. I would also need to seek God's guidance as well as the guidance of Godly people, the last thing I need is to suffer and cause harm because I fell for confirmational bias or I rushed into something without really knowing whether it was right.
I think that there are other reasons that aren't covered in the Bible that are legitimate, such as abusive relationships. A person needs to ensure their own safety and welfare. I believe that the Bible is a good guide, but it's not exhaustive in terms of covering this topic. In terms of biblical justification, Ephesians 5 speaks of the way husbands should treat their wives and wives should treat their husbands, and if there's abuse then this covenant is broken and divorce should be permissible, especially when it's clear that the cycle of abuse is not going to end. You must forgive, but you shouldn't have to stay or go back to a relationship which is going to harm you.

Knowing Jesus Christ as LORD is crucial in these very last days. God started speaking to me on June 28, 2004 and told me that my deacon husband of 22 years was committing adultery with my best friend at church. The Bible says that you can separate, and after nine months of being suicidal, I did separate, and then I became a BORN AGAIN Christian in March 2005. The LORD wouldn't let me divorce, and spoke to me in a booming voice (my testimony is on my channel), and eventually my husband who had come back after seven months of separation divorced me in 2008. God hates divorce, but if you do divorce, you must remain UNMARRIED or else be reconciled- 1 Corinthians 7:10-11 & 39. I have done tons of videos about divorce and remarriage because there are few who teach the truth that marriage is for life according to Jesus. God healed me of PTSD on Sept. 20, 2017, and I am now keeping my vows for 40 years, but I know that Jesus is coming any day to take HIS BRIDE up to heaven for the wedding in heaven (the pre-Trib rapture). If anyone knows the Lord's voice, you will know that the rapture is very soon. Living in sin includes living in divorce and remarriage, and I know and have interviewed people who repented of their remarriage adultery even after 24-32 years.. One flesh marriage is only ended by death, and my husband who remarried has been living in adultery for 10 years. I don't hate him, but judgment is coming on those who are sexually immoral- 1 Thessalonians 4, Hebrews 13:4, Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Mark 10:1-12, Luke 16:14-18. Maranatha.

I appreciate this video. I know it wasn’t easy to discuss. My ex husband left me for another woman last year after 21 years together. With his forcing our divorce, I personally came to have a stronger relationship with God and I know God was the one who wanted the divorce. I begged for my marriage but God wanted better for me. My dream was to be the best wife and mother and I know God has the husband he meant for me out there and my purpose in this life was actually spurred by my divorce. I did everything I could to hold on to my marriage but God did not want me in that marriage and we are both Christians.

It's mind-blowing that people can have sex out of wedlock with multiple different people and even produce children out of wedlock, and be able to get married after doing all of that simply because they never got married. Yet a person who marries as a virgin, but gets a divorce is somehow worse off than those who fornicated with multiple people and produced children out of wedlock. It doesn't make sense.

    • @katrinaflores2012
      @katrinaflores2012 Год назад +8

I am one of those who fornicated and produced a child out of wedlock. I truly believe that God's laws truly come to life once we surrender to the Chrisitan walk. It's not that one is worse off than the other, it really depends on the timing in our life when we became believers. Jesus will always meet us where we are when we come to him. Personally, as a single person, I have made the decision to wait until marriage when my one and only child is 18+. It's not my concern right now. I'm going on 9 years celibate!!! At 35, it's a struggle!!! BUT God's grace is ENOUGH. We all have shortcomings. The virgin does not rest on a higher level in comparison to the promiscuous woman who has been forgiven. Your words are very harsh and inaccurate. All Christians are set apart and made holy by the Blood of Jesus. Amen.

    • @tmc1373
      @tmc1373 Год назад +9

@@katrinaflores2012 It's not harsh. I'm sorry if it comes across that way, but it's very clear from the message here that a person such as yourself who has a child out of wedlock can repent and then go on to get married later in life and it would be seen as acceptable. While a virgin who married young and married someone not compatible who later goes on to divorce because of incompatibility can *never* get married again until the spouse dies which means the person doesn't get to just wait until the child is 18, but has to wait until someone dies which could be (30-50+ years)to ever get married again. See the difference there.

It makes her resent her ex that much more. I don't know. I tell her that we all have ONE chance at it whether we were young getting married or like me, later in life getting married. We have ONE chance at it. Yes, there are exceptions such as cheating but even then it's stated that it's still better to remain single. Actually, it's better that we all remain single to serve God, like Apostle Paul. In life we all have choices and our marriage person has choices to make as well. We can't stop their choices. This life is hard. I don't know. What's so wrong being single?? There's more time to serve God unless single with children. We put way too much emphasis on marriage these days because people burn with lust when we should be burning for GOD in our hearts 🔥

I hadn’t divorced until then because I was afraid of God punishing me. Even after he asked for the divorce, up until 3 days before the court hearing to finalize it, I offered to go to marital counseling. I was freaking miserable in that horrible marriage, but I knew if I didn’t try, God would punish me.
I’ve solved the remarriage issue. I don’t date. Every time I get lonely and wish I had someone, I think about the years of abuse. I’m never letting another man do that to me again. No remarriage, no abuse, problem solved.

When it doesn't work out the church needs to do a good job at training them up to have a much better chance the second time around instead of throwing them away like refuse. The alternative is them living promiscuously because they feel ashamed and condemned by the church. We have to put an end to the cycle of broken hearts and broken families.

Is this God's plan for us? And at times I felt confused because I felt that I would also be doing wrong by God by ultimately ending it. Fast forward, the pain that I went through served a great purpose. Thanks for a great video Mark, I know divorce and remarriage can be a very emotive subject. I've always understood that if you got divorced you couldn't remarry as long as your ex-spouse is still alive, because when you get married you make a vow and promise to God and to your spouse to love no one else and to be faithful to each other "until death us do part". So if you remarry while your ex spouse is still alive, you've broken your promise to God. Marriage is a commitment for life, this is why it's so important to make sure you marry the right person to avoid these types of situations and stay true to God's word. 🙏

I'm sorry you're going through this. My situation was different because we didn't have children together and were not married, but we were together a very long time and I thought we would be together for life. I also converted after the relationship ended.
Like you, I kept praying for his conversion. I also prayed for the restoration of our relationship but ONLY IF it was God's will, and if not, then I pleaded to God to please help me to remove him from my heart and move on. It took me a couple to a few years of praying, but one day, overnight, I felt peace and joy, and stopped thinking about him, caring about going back together, and we are in good terms but I can say I've truly moved on. On the other hand, a lady at church prayed for her marriage to be restored for 3 years and it was restored.
The point is, keep praying, and ask for God's will because ultimately He knows best and will lead us to what is best for us.
In my case, I've remained single since then, it's been 5 years. I'd like to find love and get married, but I trust God if it doesn't happen. I do have peace of mind and many blessings in my single days though. The Lord simply knows better.

So, everybody is different and God will decide the future, inheritance for girl child was not there during Moses time, but for 4 girls born without a male child, God gave a judgement that, daughters can inherit the property but not that man's near relatives.

Someone shared her story of how she got married when she was very young. The marriage didn't work out and she got divorced. The Lord told her to confess the sin; and that He had never joined them together. He also told her that He would sent someone else into her life, which He did. Today, she has a worldwide ministry and is still with her second husband. Every situation is different, but direction from the Holy Spirit is very important.

This helped with questions in my head.
My first marriage he was abusive and cheated on me. He would also tell me he was the devil and can control peoples minds. My second marriage, he cheated on me while working out of town and thought he didn’t do anything wrong. I forgave him, took him back and never once brought up he fact he cheated on me. He came back different, something didn’t feel right at all, but I ignored. Couple years later he started to get weird. He would suffocate me while I’m sleeping. He would agree with men shooting their wives. Then he started to get very abusive with me to a point I couldn’t walk around him without thinking he’s going to kill me. It’s not that we fraught, we barely fought. His mind got dangerously abusive I wanted out of there or die. I prayed for help every day, it either God helps him or take him away. When covid hit 2020 his mother needed help with her home, he went to her home out of town. That’s when everything fell into place. Two and half years later I have been free from him and the divorce is going to be final on December 29th. I moved to a new home, everything is whole new life now. I don’t want to be alone for the rest of my life, but still pretty scared to move on. My church knows about everything that happened and they support me. Anyways I needed to hear this because I don’t ever want him back ever!

My ex husband says he believes in Christ but he doesn’t know his teachings so I believe he was a non believer who wanted a divorce so I finally agreed to the divorce. It was selfish of him and it reminds me of the saying Isaiah 54:6 and the lord has called you back from your grief- as though you were a young wife abondoned by her husband. What about these verses? Mark‬ ‭10:2‭-‬12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[2] And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him. [3] And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? [4] And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. [5] And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. [6] But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. [7] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; [8] and they twain shall be ONE FLESH: so then they are no more twain, but ONE FLESH. [9] What therefore God hath joined together, let NOT man put asunder.
[10] And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. [11] And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. [12] And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:1‭-‬3‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[1] Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he LIVETH? [2] For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he LIVETH; but if the husband be DEAD, she is loosed from the law of her husband. [3] So then if, while her husband LIVETH, she be married to another man, she shall be called an ADULTERESS: but if her husband be DEAD, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7:1‭-‬2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[1] Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. [2] Nevertheless, to AVOID FORNICATION, let every man have his OWN wife, and let every woman have her OWN husband.
[10] And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: [11] but and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let NOT the husband put away his wife.
[39] The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband LIVETH; but if her husband be DEAD, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
      ‭‭Malachi‬ ‭2:13‭-‬16‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[13] And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. [14] Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy COVENANT. [15] And did not he make ONE? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore ONE? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. [16] For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he HATETH putting away (divorce): for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
      ‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:14‭-‬18‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[14] And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him. [15] And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. [16] The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. [17] And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. [18] Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth ADULTERY: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth ADULTERY.
      ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[24] Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be ONE FLESH.
      ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
[4] Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous.
      ‭‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:4‬ ‭ASV‬‬
[4] Let marriage be had in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:22‭-‬33‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[22] Wives, submit yourselves unto your OWN husbands, as unto the Lord. [23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. [24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. [25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; [26] that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be HOLY and without blemish. [28] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. [29] For no man ever yet hated his OWN FLESH; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: [30] for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be ONE FLESH. [32] This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. [33] Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?" 8 Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.
Jesus knew this would happen but it was not supposed to be this way from the beginning. But because of Sin we live in a fallen world and our hard hearts allow us to do these things. It was not supposed to be this way, just like we weren’t supposed to die but live with the Lord but due to sin have been separated. Gods grace can cover a multitude of sin thanks be to God. Thankfully we have the new covenant 🙏🏼 this was definitely a hard reality for me to understand as a Christian without guilting myself and shaming myself. God can redeem all people. Amen

Thank you Mark for making this video. It's such an important issue. My best friend got divorced due to Abuse. She thought the same way as you said about her exes actions showed he wanted a divorce and of not being a real believer. She still felt sad due to she's a Christian and didn't want to go against the what the lord wants. She sought out counsel from pastor & other Christains. To comfort her I told her, I reminded her of "the laws of the land" that sense abuse is against the law... and there is also the love your brother (neighbor/others) as yourself. If you beat on them you are not loving them. She has since met & remarried with a wonderful man.
More recently my sister separated from her husband and is in a process of a divorce, because he wants one. He then keeps dragging it out like he doesn't want one after all, but isn't willing to be together again or to get help with counseling to try to save the marriage. It's been hard for her, but she has gotten closer to God through it. She has found out that he's been dating & sleeping with other women. So she is now just praying that the lord will get him to stop stringing her along & do the right thing. I ask for you & others to say a prayer for her. He moved on with other women before she did. She hasn't had a desire to as of yet. She is focusing on her relationship with the lord & her two children. I pray that God's will, will be done in her life.

I am divorced and had questions has well. My ex was abusive and took no accountability for his actions. Prior to walking away from my marriage, I wanted to seek help to resolve our issues, but he did not want to. I knew i made a lot of mistakes and didn't want to walk away without trying. While we were separated, he was already dating and sleeping with other women.
Instead of running to another relationship, I started developing my relationship with God. The closer I got to God, the more difficult our situation became. I prayed and asked God to show me what to do. We ended up getting a divorce and this was 5 years ago.
Even after our divorce, I had hope that maybe we could get back together one day, so I would pray for God to change him; this hasn't happened yet.
I have grown so much in my relationship with God and I do not believe that he is the man that God would want me to be with because he is still walking in sin and he would pull me away from God instead of towards him.

My ex says he left me but I left him for abuse.
ButI didn't leave until I confronted him about not following the Bible. I never pushed my belief on him but he was demanding me to be submissive for years. I did everything I could.
Then, at the end, I asked "Have you once opened the Bible and tried to be how it says to be " Because that's what I was doing to try to save the marriage. He said "I'm spiritual not religious."
I also confronted him that there's only one truth. Only one. He kept saying there's multiple. Days later, after we broke up he redacted but I was already out.
He got real mean and told me "Why don't you pray about it?" When he was hurting me.
The abuse got physical. At the end of our marriage I started to get mean as well. I started to yell at him because he never listened to me. I tried every which way but yell. Never yell at these types of people. They just try to paint themselves as the victims later. So when I finally started yelling at him, that's when he got physically abusive to me.
Ine time was completely wrong. We got in an argument and he was outside. I told him to get outta here. Thatbruin his precious pride and I ran inside to lock the door. He got to the door before I could barricade with the chair.
I ssked him "Are you simply wanting to see the kids?" Becyuf he said yes, I would've stepped out if the way. But he yelled at me instead "I don't have to answer you!" And knocked me, the chair over to the ground. And yelled in my face ",Get away from me!"
I was used to being knocked around at this point so I said "Stupid, knocks me to the ground and yells get away while I'm the ground."
Later I asked him if that's hiw he wants Kristen to be treated and he said ",You could've run to the other side of the house." But I gave ran to the other side of the house before. Where he followed and yelled at me before.
After all that, I remember crying to Jesus. All I said was "Lord..." with tears in my eyes and I believe I heard the Holy Spirit say I take this cup from you. You can leave now.
I instantly got a job a week after and when I couldn't pay my bills Jesus sent me more than enough where I was even able to get a birthday present for myself.
I had to learn how to be alone. But I asked God for a real Christian marriage. And Jesus sent me my husband. My ex and I never were legally married. So I got legally married to my husband. He's such a good Christian husband. Guides me, protects me, loves me, goes to church with me, teaches my children about God ❤ I'm so thankful.
I think people get stuck in the mind. But Jesys cares about us. Some if us are called to be single. That's okay too.
I don't like being an exception ro the rules. I'd rather preferred I wasn't abused. I also wasn't Christian when I got married.
It was just horrible. My non believing brother in laws acted way more Christian than my ex.
He lies to this day and says he never abused me. He lies to my children.
I need to believe in God because God knows the truth. Protecter and redeemer.
Now that I'm in a Christian marriage, I plan to stay forever like how Christians ought.
It does worry me sometimes but I think it's dogma that scares me. I hope I'm not decieved.

Thank you Mark! This is a tough topic! My believing spouse used irreconcilable differences to abandon our marriage covenant and with the court's blessing, sent me packing 9 years ago. No abuse, or adultery in our Christian marriage. I'm also a believer and still divorced/single and she is still single as well. I've been wanting to remarry another some day but don't want to be disobedient. I'm close to 60 and hate the thought of being single from here on because of the enemy taking my marriage away. A marriage that I still believe could have been worked through.

My direct personal, and painful, experience is this: As soon as a Pastor presents divorce as an option, one of the spouses will take the option. Please, listen to Jesus on the matter, and take the option off the table. It is that simple. If they must split up for some abuse or something, there is NO option for remarriage in the Bible. If a remarriage occurs in the Bible, unless it is a widow, the remarriage is ALWAYS adultery.

    Hi Mark, great video.
Here's one variable that's needs looking into...
Person (A) separates from (B) before (A) becomes a believer. Fell out of love etc etc, with no real issue per se. ( B) a non beliver, is happy with present situation because of new love interest. Biblically (B) is now committing Adultery. However (A) hasn't got any motivation to rekindle relationship because of past issues, but not the Adultery part because the Love was gone anyway prior to conversion.
    (A) informs (B) that a divorce is required urgently because (A) also has a new love interest.
    (B) doesn't really chase the divorce because life is OK and doesn't want to marry new love, but in all honesty would take back (A) because (A) left (B) in the instance and still loves (A).
(A), waits for (B) to get the divorce filed, on grounds on incompatible with each other.
Should/can in your opinion (A) remarry bearing in mind (A) never tried to save marriage once saved.
It could be viewed that the Technical Adultery is an excuse to divorce??????
Very difficult situation all round. Alot of grey areas.
Personally I feel that (A) probably shouldn't remarry?
    Sorry to mash your head!
Ps, I didn't hear it on video, but there's alot who say that Believers who were divorced prior to new Birth should never remarry. ???
That I disagree with as Believers are a New creation in Christ.
    x

      @ApplyGodsWordcomMarkBallenger  Год назад +3

Thanks for this comment Paul. I found it difficult to follow to be honest. I think, however, your first task to unravel this would be to decide which view you take on remarriage and divorce generally. And then compare your personal question to the biblical standards you believe God gives us. If you do that, then you can simply ask if the divorce was biblical or not and if so you can remarry (view 3) or not remarry (view 2). Not sure if that helps.
My best answer is that if someone was an unbeliever and got divorced but then becomes a believer after the divorce, I would think they should start there and consider their previous marriage under the principle of an unbelieving spouse wanting a divorce (even if they were the unbelieving spouse at that point), which would be a biblical divorce (I think).
But as I said, it really comes down to each person being honest with their interpretation of Scripture and then acting in faith and not violating their own conscience.
Great question. Not sure I helped at all but that's what comes to mind at the moment.

I am a little confused about some of the logic you have presented. Maybe you could help me with this. Let's say a couple divorces for non-biblical reasons. As soon as one of them remarries or otherwise has sex, that act of adultery "triggers a release" from the first marriage, isn't that basically saying that divorce actually is, in effect, permissible for any reason?

    • @sjg5994
      @sjg5994 7 месяцев назад

Once that marriage occurs, the previous is over. That 1st covenant is broken, especially by the act of sex. Now a tie is made to the new person.

@@sjg5994 I'm still confused. Romans 7:2-3 says "For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man." This sounds like the previous marriage is NOT over as long as the divorced spouse still lives, no?

I separated and asked the church for if I could get divorced and said no. I got into another relationship with another man and later on divorced my husband after waiting 10 years because he refused to divorce me. The brethren said because I was now unfaithful to my husband I now can’t divorce because I committed the same sin. And used scriptures saying only the man can give the bill of divorcement and not the woman they say my divorce is not valid. 🤷‍♀️

“Because of the hardness of your hearts Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.
    My position is option #4:
Divorce can be done if the marriage is unlawful, making it null and void. But if you were to remarry, since divorce was never God's, the remarriage can only be deemed of God if the divorce was because of unlawful marriage and the remarriage is not one with someone who divorced unlawfully. Or else, it is adultery, and any attempt to "honor God" in this remarriage is still a dishonor because it is not God's.
For me, a divorce is still unlawful if it is caused by adultery that only came about during the marriage. But if it was already happening prior or not a result of an unsatisfactory bond between the couple, it will fall under a lawful divorce caused by adultery. If an adulterer says that the reason of their adultery is an unsatisfactory marriage, it would be a position that would support a plea to not go through the divorce but work out the marriage still. If adultery is met with another adultery, attempting to honor God through the adultery is a dishonor to God.

I have a question: how we should think about single ones who are dating a divorced person? And what about if that divorced person was the one who committed adultery in the past relationship and therefore the reason why they got divorced?

    • @WalkingbytheSpiritAlways
      @WalkingbytheSpiritAlways 11 месяцев назад +1

No single person should ever consider dating a divorced person. Contrary to what this man teaches, only death (not divorce) ends the one flesh marriage covenant. I have a video on my channel's playlist of a wonderful Christian who God told to leave his relationship with a divorced woman. Marriage is for life, and the divorced person must remain single or else be reconciled to their covenant marriage spouse.

Funny, you can usually see what people's view of this difficult matter is from the presenter' dress and face. Kind-looking casually-dressed people usually have what to me is the correct view, that sexual immorality, abandonment and abuse are permissible reasons for divorce and also permits remarriage. And Mark is humble in his approach, well done. The big evil is splitting up a family where there is a second marriage involved which some Bible commentators shamelessly advocate.

I’ve been divorced for 8 years. I was cheated on and left for another man six years into our marriage. She divorced me against my will simply to be with another man whom she was having relations with. I felt God placed it on my heart to stand in the gap and pray for her salvation. I did that for a year and she came home one night crying and apologizing telling me how miserable she was and how wrong she was. I took her back and we remarried a few months later. Two weeks after our remarriage she left me again for a different man whom she has now been married to for a few years. Everyone tells me I’m free to move on and remarry. I have prayed about it for literally years. I’ve dated some women and every time I do I always feel like I have a separation from God. Like I feel guilty about it and feel like my relationship with God starts to get colder. My main goal in this life is to please God and make it to heaven because this life is just temporary and heaven or hell is eternal. I can’t help but wonder if remarriage is actually a sin no matter what. I’m not judging anyone at all because I truly want to know. I would like to remarry. But anytime I try to date it just feels like God is telling me it’s wrong. Here’s what really gets me. I believe in being baptized with the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongue’s. Something that I had never done in my life until after my divorce. I can say that divorce completely changed my relationship with God for the better. But I seem to have the spirit move through me and cause me to speak in tongues more than any other time when I pray for my ex wife’s salvation. I always feel like God is telling me to wait and pray for her because I believe she is in an adulteress relationship and she is not going to make heaven. I do know that I’m not God and her relationship with God is up to her. But I just always feel like God is disappointed in me if I try to forget about her and move on and it always affects any relationship I try to get in. Feels like God tells me he didn’t give up on me and I am not supposed to give up on her. Just wondered if there is anyone else in my situation that always feels guilty? Always makes me wonder if remarriage is a sin? And I promise I am not judging anyone here at all I just really want to know if anyone else has the same problem I have with moving on and how they feel about it. God knows my heart and I want to do his will when it’s all done but just curious

Hi Kerry. I've been separated for over a year now. At the start of my separation, Ive decided to stand in the gap for my marriage. Months have passed and my husband keep saying things on my face about him not wanting to come back. Multiple men were sent by satan to allure me and be in a relatioship with me. But I said no. I'l be honest I am so weary, discouraged and hopeless. Until recently I hearken to my churchmate's advice to date because my husband is not coming back anymore. I tried to date and be involved with a man but GOD didn't allow it! What i'm saying is that the conviction from the Holy Spirit in you who tells you it's wrong to be involved with someone else is the truth! I felt the similar way you did when these men came to me. I just felt in my spirit that it's wrong. And just when I was about to give in to my flesh, the Holy Spirit didn't allow me to meet the guy whom I was supposed to me. I realised now the Lord Jesus is protecting me!! So keep fighting for your marriage. You aren't alone.
Yesterday I met my husband and he told me that a lawyer will come to my house to hand the documents. And I didn't contest nor begged him to stop the divorce. The Prince of Prince lives in me and yesterday the Lord Jesus confirms that He is indeed my peace.
Yes it's hard, yes it's painful but God!! The next time I'll give a comment that would be to tell you that my husband has decided to come back and reconcile!! I claim that in Jesus' name.

I appreciate your explaination on the different viewpoints. I woukd caution that staring we need to act out what we believe the bible is saying to us, versus what the Bible actually says could be dangerous. Just because we believe something to be true doesnt make it so. Being convicted in one afea does not make it right if the Bible says otherwise. We should strive and surrender to his will regarding his word in relationship to him. Have a great day!

Ironically on this date on August 15th 2015 I got divorced because my ex wife had an affair with another married man. My first marriage ended because of verbal abuse and she was not saved. I made a mistake when I got married the first time. That was 25 years ago. I have been praying for both of them. I was listening to this on my way home from work. After listening to this video I am now completely confused, however I have forgiven both of them. My understanding according to the Bible, I believe that I will never get married again. I don't want to comment adultery.

I too am Roman Catholic, and with little understanding of the circumstances of the annulment and why it took 26 years, or why either of you wanted to be divorced/annulled to begin with, on your former spouses part, if he would have had that kind of patience, forgiveness and loving heart to wait in obedience and focus on Christ, this is an immense window of opportunity for reconciliation and spiritual growth that his seeming immediate rejection of the union did not allow for.
We have no idea what could have/would have happened if we would have just walked in our own will. Ultimately God protects us-our soul-when we are obedient.
And due to Gods Divine Providence, and your obedience to the Church’s teachings, obviously a huge test of Trust in God and forgiveness, ultimately for spiritual growth. I hope you have peace in knowing that God’s love and Providence is beyond our human understanding despite the fact that sometimes/many times in this life we are not permitted to know the why’s of everything. And ultimately whatever vocational path we adopt , by our own free will or through Divine Providence, is to aid us on the path of perfection. There is huge temptation to think we miss out on life when we compare our lives to those around us and the devil preys on our sadness.
I just wanted to say these things because I have been meditating on these issues this week. May God Bless you moving forward, we do not know what God has instore for us, and hopefully your heart has become larger because of this.

Wow this was a good video and obviously very well researched by you, I appreciate your wisdom here, as I was also trying to gain clarity from all of this. I've struggled in knowing what to tell people about these issues. Can I make a request that you do a video on if a person is justified enough to get a pre nuptial agreement in a marriage? I'm not one to be in complete support of such a thing, as I believe in living by faith and trust in a Godly marriage, but in this day and age it seems so much more risky to go without a prenup than it used to be, as divorce laws seem to very much favor the woman, often unjustly. Would it be conceivable that a prenup would be a good security measure, or a misplaced trust in the sanctity of a Godly marriage? Thanks.

    1. God is not an author of confusion, whatever is not in the bible, we are suppose to use wisdom. Pray and ask.
    2. God did not put everyone together although He created marriage. We have free will.
    3. What GOD put together let no man or anyone destroy. Is this person connected to your purpose and what God has for you to do?
Pray, God gives confirmation. Make sure God was in it in the first place. Many people are marrying the wrong person. Wisdom says, that is grounds for divorce. Were there red flags ignored? Did God say No and we said yes anyway?🙏🏽🙏🏽

Wow! The Bible is very clear, it does not say Divorce and remarriage is okay after Adultery, No. Matthew 19 specifically says Fornication, not Adultery..why? If a woman presents as a virgin before Marriage, but was proven not a Virgin after marriage and consummation, then a Husband can put away his wife; for no other reason except Death do you apart(1 Corinthians 7 & Romans 7:1-3)can one rightfully be remarried to another, for That same Matthew 19 says what God put together, let no man put asunder. As long as the first spouse is alive, remain unmarried or reconcile. If Remarriage occurs that is Adultery and that Marriage is a continuous Adulterous Sin as long as it continues...hence 1 Corinthians 6:9 Adulterers(stayed in unrighteous Remarriage) will not see the Kingdom of Heaven.

I’ve read, listened , and watched this particular view. However, you’re only quoting the first half of the verse. Some translations say sexual immorality, some say adultery, some say fornication. But all translations on the second half of the verse are the same. The entire verse says”I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” If we substitute “sexual immorality”with “fornication” it still leaves the second part of the verse that says “and marries another woman commits adultery”. The word “adultery” is used. So this can either mean one of two things. In the case of the “fornication” translation, any person who has had sex before marriage and then marries for the first time has grounds for divorce if one spouse discovers the other spouse fornicated. Also if the true translation is fornication and the espoused wife or husband are now divorced how can either one commit adultery after the divorce ? Remember, the divorce was due to fornication which married people don’t do. Single people fornicate Married people commit adultery. How can I commit adultery if I was never married?

There are so many different cases regarding this issue. A woman got married to a divorcee. His 1st wife divorced him because he was depressed and neglected his responsibilities as a husband and father. He then had a girlfriend and lived with her like husband and wife but not married. He broke up with that gf and met another woman and married her, and then later in he cheated on his 2nd wife with his ex gf, then he divorced the 2nd wife. My question is, can his 1st wife and his 2nd wife remarry? Do they sin if they remarry? What should they do?

  • @EdwardThe2nd.
    @EdwardThe2nd. 10 месяцев назад +1

Everytime I see someone advocate for "2 x exceptions" for divorce / remarriage, they never exegete the following verses all together:
    Luke 16:18
    Mark 10:11-12
    Rom 7:2-3
    1 Cor 7:11-12
    1 Cor 7:39
They never exegete what the word "bound" means in 1 Cor 7:15 (Greek: douloo - it means enslaved), which simply means that the believing spouse should not be enslaved to a contentious battle with the unbelieving spouse. It DOES NOT mean that the marriage covenant ends (see the verses listed above).
They never exegete why Matthew (written to a Jewish audience - who practiced betrothal) says "except for Porneia", and they never explain why the following verses show that Porneia (fornication) and Moicheia (adultery) are identified as distinct and separate sins:
    Matt 15:19
    Mark 7:21
    1 Cor 6:9
    Heb 13:4
This is not a case of "pick any one of the three views, and it's OK whichever view you want". Because 1 Cor 6:9 says clearly that all adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Therefore this has implications towards the gospel.
Sir, I have given you the truth. If you disagree with it, then your problem is with God.

So here we go: This is not a sob story; just my real life scenario and my understanding of things biblically. My ex wife was unhappy in our marriage and found another man. I separated from her, then later divorced her because of the irretrievable situation. She has married him. I am now single, but would love to remarry. It seems that the only women that I can choose to marry would be either a virgin, a widow or any women who has not been married before. I am free to remarry according to 1 Corinthians 7, but am limited to who I can marry (i.e the prior relationship status of the woman). What a horrible predicament!
