I didn’t realize how much I missed your house build videos until I watched this. Keep up the great work!
More to come! Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed watching this. Can't wait for more!! Stay safe in this heat. My daughter is home from college in Tuscaloosa for a visit. We have low to mid 80s right now in Wisconsin. She's enjoying the much cooler temps.
That temp sounds amazing. 115 here today on the index. Warnings popping up everywhere.
Clark & Deborah: Andrew another Great working alone video....
One has the ability to learn how to get things do by His or Her self. And come up with many ways to do the job of 3 with only 1.
Tricks of the trade...an even better when one passes them on to others. Such as you do. 🎉 👏 🎉👏 🎉you 🎉
Thank you for watching
Ruger,has a nice new fan!!!
He sure does
love love loveeeeee Rugar just laying in front of the fan 🙂
I knew that's right where he was headed.
Andrew you are going to love your new Dewalt 780 miter saw. Also loe the kite string hack.
Thank you for watching
Can't wait to see you or Tiffany running down that deck and jumping in the pool 👍
Coming soon!
Excellent craftsmanship!! I’ve decided that when I replace mine, I’m going to use sonotube with a Simpson base plate screwed into it with my posts mounted to that. No wood to ground contact, and if they do rot, they can be replaced
Exactly how I mount all my posts and they won't rot out, EVER. I'm a contractor and have seen too many posts, from fences to decks, that were rotted out right at ground level. Do it once and do it right.
Wet the dirt before hand when using the marking paint. Keeps it from just blowing dirt everywhere and the mark shows up 1000 times better 👌
Great tip!
I sure learned a lot during this video! Great job Andrew. Can't wait to see what's next!
Thank you for watching
Yes I did enjoy this episode. That is a sweet saw! Hope it provides many years of service. Looking forward to the next episode.
It should be an excellent saw for the work I do.
I noticed the Dewalt and thought I missed an episode where you unveiled it.....that's a dream saw for sure. Thank you for the information.
I've been wanting that saw for 5 or more years. With as much as I am saving myself on the house and deck build, I can justify it.
Awesome job man! I laughed because I was questioning your miter saw right when you announced it. Looks great!
It wax time for a new one. Killer sale at Lowes.
I would love that saw
Lowes has them 😉🤣😬
@@TKCL not for free, lol
@@TKCLahahaha 😜 oh snaps
The whole pool and deck have been so interesting to see come together.... and I am super exciting to see what you do with the composite decking!
Coming soon! The landscape project should be just as exciting.
I have posts that were set that way 40 years ago. Still solid. Still in use. Still stout. In use to this day. My father in law taught me this method then. We live on the property now. Well done and cheers from Oklahoma.
Glad to hear that. A lot of misconceptions out there ablut the subject.
40 years ago there was pressure treated lumber treated with arsenic. Now you have pressure treated then ground contact. They are not treated the same. The 6x6s are ground contact but most of the 2x stuff is not ground contact. At least from the big box stores ...I only buy yella wood pressure treated lumber for all outdoor work
You can still get arsenic cured lumber. My 8x8s for the barn and 6x6s for the house are. You have to have a direct contact with the lumber yards that still treat this way. Technically it's for ag only.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and awesome work too...look forward to next video.
Thank you for watching
Congratulations on the new saw! Same one I have and it is awesome! Love that you are fixing your old one and blessing someone with it! That is what the world needs more of! Also love the clean up bucket it has saved me a many twisted ankles 😂
Lol on the ankles!
Its coming along, giving me a few ideas to build mine
Thank you for watching
Looking good, it can be a slow going project when you are working by yourself! Have a great weekend!🤗
Thank you for watching
Andrew as always you do a great job. Just an idea, you should make some long run videos that go more in depth (less edited). I only mention this because you work on some projects that I am considering tackling myself. Also two videos for one for you... Just an idea. Thank for all your hard work.
I've considered it. I cut almost 20 minutes out of this video.
I see you had Mrs Tiffany helping out at the end of the day...take care of that girl. Great job! Most folks don't know the basics.
Hi, Andrew! I am so excited about this new deck. This is going to be a real treat!!!!! Ruger is going to be a good overseer. 😂
He's on top of everything.
Also bring you concreete above ground, and get top to patted to drian water away from the post
Good job on posts looks good. I have that saw and it’s awesome, one suggestion, I’d get the ridgid portable saw stand. I’m been so amazed by it and with bigger wheels it works good going outside with it.
I do want a new stand, but I better let the bank account cool off LOL.
I hear ya, I obviously need to do the same, adds up quick!
Great information and tips Andrew. Those 12 ft 6x6s are a handful. Ill be using your strap idea next time I wrestle some for sure! Looking really good, will be a solid deck, Im sure!
I sure hope it will be solid. Thanks for watching!
Looks like nice rich soil, Andrew!!
That was my top soil pile, very good soil.
Im going to get me one of those kite string reels and fill it with mason line. Thats gonna be nice
It works so well!
❤❤❤
👏👏👏!
Sorry Andrew, but I still had to giggle and think is it pluged in --haha :)
Looking good!
Thank you for watching
Well done!!!
Thank you for watching
I know your pain. I had to hand dig and hand place twenty 14 ft, 6 x 6 for my chicken coop. One month after completing the coop, my wife let be buy a tractor with an auger.
Lol, well next time your set.
Awesome video! Hella job Bud! 💪
Thank you for watching
That was a lot of heavy work! I'm sure the heat didn't help.
Looks GREAT so far!
Heat is miserable!
Killing it as usual Andrew, Looking forward to see this series.
Holy moly it looks like you're building Chris a jungle gym outside next on the list is the zipline 👍🏽

Looks professional to me.
I see Tiffany brought the 💪. Andrew she's a keeper.
She helped for sure, those 12ft poles were a bit much for me.
Great video. I'm really looking forward to this build. I'm considering changing out older 5/4 decking boards with composite and hidden fasteners. Andrew, you are truly an educator the way you explain things and show the process. Good job.
Thank you for watching
You're a gifted individual!
Good morning Andrew n Tiffany n Bullet n Rugar from Australia down under , have awesome weekend
Thank you for watching
Great episode Andrew I really love the way you teach and explain stuff now completely off-topic. How does that waterfall thing for the pool help keep it cool
It does a really good job, consistently keeps it 3-4 degrees cooler than without.
We just did this last yr around our pool. It was a serious job with only two people doing it. Im still shocked my wife & I remained married.
Lol I understand that. It's a big job by myself, but I'm managing.
Sweet,
Who gets to "Walk the Plank" first? 😂
I volunteer!
Sweet new dewalt saw. Like the idea with the short strap on the 6x6 by yourself
Love that saw!
Hi Andrew very interesting video, man that’s going to be one solid deck. You are one smart man doing any job👍👍. Enjoy your videos. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
This was astounding Andrew!
Thank you for watching
You got yourself a great saw.
I think so too.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. 🤠
Love the new saw! You’ll love it.
I think I will!
Great Video. Thanks Andrew.
Thanks for watching!
ruger was just staring at the trailer pulling away like what are ya doing dad? where ya goin, lol
He chases me everywhere.
You always hit it at the park. Andrew, I remember when I turned you on to the oscillating trimmer
Love that tool!
Hey have thought about doing a solar pool pump ,natural current sells them
Yes I have been considering it.
did you check the brushes in the old saw too? that will help get a longer life out of it for the next person! also nice job cant wait to see the rest of it in progress!
No I haven't, I need to see if it has an access cap.
@@TKCL you might have to pull the cover off
cant wait till its done. makes me want to swim
Miserable hot here, I am ready to swim myself.
The Fountain will keep that Pool water cool in this Heat wave.
It makes a big difference
You are amazing, love this channel
Thank you for watching and the support
Why not leave the 12' pole for lights, or decorative pieces or even a roof
We don't want any obstructions blocking the night sky or more of our view from the living room.
Rookie question here. How do you know the spacing of your post, and also how close to the pool to put them? I can’t figure out how to figure my post spacing but I believe I can do the rest! Nice build by the way.
You can play around with your spacing, I figured out my deck size and added posts where I knew the railing kits would fit between. In my case the railing kits were for posts spaced 6ft on center. If not using railings you can space posts further apart. There are calculators online for deck joist size and spacing. You will for sure want to double up at a minimum your ledger boards of going over a large open span before you get to your next post.
@@TKCL awesome thank you! I plan on doing mine a little over kill like you did. I don’t want any problems down the road. I’m undecided on composite or wood, but want to steal your idea of the picture frame border. That looks really clean! Great job!
Good looking helper you have there Andrew. She's a keeper. I'm trying to figure out what the deck is going to look like.when you are done. You have me intrigued. Looking forward to seeing the finished deck.
It'll make more sense in the next few episodes
I have pulled up mailboxes and posts years after they were set with dry concrete and the concrete was still dry near the post. The outside of the concrete was hard but water doesn’t always reach all the concrete around the post… That has taught me to always premix the concrete and also don’t add to much water because excess water makes concrete very weak like what happens when excess water is poured onto concrete.
Decks gonna look great.
I've seen another channel buy the premixed concrete. It saves time but doesn't save money.
In our wet climate (Florida) I've never heard of concrete not curing when poured dry. Our soil is very damp, should be OK.
@@TKCL it’s not that it won’t cure. It’s that the outside of the concrete gets water first and gets hard which prevents an adequate amount of water from getting to the concrete closer to the post. I suppose it doesn’t always happen like that.
👍💞
Good day.
Hello
Birds got butt hurt when they heard the tractor but no mower cutting grass lol
Lol exactly! 🤣
Poor bird's 😔 Andrew was teasing them 🥺😫
I'm liking your sprinkler setup on the pool... do you have a video showing it? or an amazon affiliate link? (I looked, but couldn't find one)
Not yet, I'll make a short video since so many people ha e asked.
Leave a higher section of the deck and put a slide into the pool......................................................
Fun
Are you going to be adding support to the middle of the larger portion of the deck? Other than along the pool wall.
According to the deck Joist span chart I'm well under max Joist length. But I am considering adding additional support.
@@TKCL won’t hurt anything and you’ll have a lot of extra cut offs
👀
👀
Does composit decking stay cool to the touch?
No it doesn't, shoes will be required. Honestly everything gets hot in Florida.
I wonder if you dug a deep hole with that auger…….. combined with an armadillo trap 🧐
A thought! Got another one last night.
What do you do for a living? Besides RUclips?
I am now full time on RUclips. I do a lot of side hustles for some income as well, pretty much all of it is shown on the channel.

I wonder where's Ruger been all this time, not checking on you?!
Ruger is burning up. Looking for shade.
Too bad you couldn't get some free labor out of the resident armadillos to dig those post holes for you.
Right! Got another one last night.
Is that a cell phone on your neck @ 5:44
Clamp on microphone for audio recording.
I'm sure it's already built but be prepared to wear shoes on the deck. Composite gets so hot and holds the heat very well when in the sun.
We know we will need shoes for it. Any deck in Florida pretty much requires shoes in the summer.
why not rap the post with tar paper
I have mixed feelings on the looseness that creates.
Where you a carpenter?
No, never. Just like to pick up things and learn.
I am not being picky but how about a laser. just saying
I do plan to use one when setting level for my joists and ledger boards.

@@TKCL I was going to comment, I've been waiting for this 1.
But you said it at the start of the video...

Ahhh I see.
As much money as your making you should of had a real gunnite pool built, they have a lifetime shell warranty, you'll be replacing that liner every few years 😄
How much money am I making? 🤣
My friends identical pool is on her 5th year of her liner and its fine. They cost $650. $60k pool vs $3k 🤷
My liner was 11y/o when replaced because of a limb falling in punchering it.
What ever floats your boat I know in south Alabama they don't Last that long, gunnite pools are the best
Hey it's me redneck from georgia I'm going to go with the delta 2 max I beleive it will run my small freg and small freezer another question is there a limit in feet from solar panels and battery that you can run
NO limit, just know the longer the run, the larger size wire needed. There are solar wire charts online where you can enter your final amperage and length of the run. It will tell you the size wire recommended. Let me know if you need my affiliate link and or more information for the Delta 2 max. Thanks
