Well… let me tell you, the rhythm… is literally what it’s made for first and foremost. It’s marching songs, what’s the most important thing about a march? the rhythm.
Goddamn, that's Drill Sergeant Ghee (pronounced "G") of Alpha-232 in Fort Sam Houston, Texas, marching the company back to the barracks. The 232nd Medical Battalion is the training battalion for all Army combat medics. I was training under him just earlier this year. An honor, truly. EDIT: ... That's my class, actually... 👁👄👁
Old disabled (not service related) U.S. Army Infantryman here... Goddammit I miss calling cadence. I loved calling like this. I learned how from all the old drill sergeants in basic and AIT and then carried on calling the whole time I was in. I loved it! Thanks for the content. Did my old infantry heart good to hear this again.
It's been 41 years since I left the military. Every time I have to walk somewhere, whether it be across a parking lot, through the aisles of a store, or even just taking a hike or walk in the park, a cadence is always in my head!! Longest lasting earworm ever 😂 ❤ Army Strong 🫡🇺🇸🪖🫶💪💯
Even though I went through Basic and AIT at Ft. Jackson back in the summer of 1993' over 30 years ago this just brought me to tears right here, I have so many memories, Hooah!
Shoot I did basic in 85 . IAIT in 86 both at Ft Fix. Then Second AIT IN 87 AT Ft Leonard. Bragg first PP . Then back to Leanardwood pcS pp. MOS deleted out of the army and re uped . Got sent to Ft Sam for new MOS(S) at the time 91B ( combat medic) was a prequel for higherbMOS. PHASE 1 ( BOOK WORK) was at Ft Sam. Then back to Leanardwood for my phase two. For 91p. Then PCS to crappy Ft Hood. Where I was never allowed to take my state test for X ray tech. And my MOS was changed back to the first. WHICH WAS AN MOS I NEVER LIKED. I was told it was one thing and was another. I've left out deployment. But I was never madder then the 4 hours I was at Battion signing in..and they changed my MOS behind my back. I hated Ft Hood. They illegally changed my MOS. I HAD my worse Battion commander that was a lap licker. That I had the misfortune of having her girlfriend as one of privates. That was ATE UP and I gave her corrective action. PLUS my wife was killed there due to her ate up commander. Hate is too light of a word for how I feel about Ft Hood. Sorry I just got going. To this day. I still want to know how a 0-5 Got 91P20 changed to 88M20. She pulled something out of her lesbo ass. Pulled some major strings. I was suppost to of been the NCOIC of Xray at the TMC. Instead I become a squad leader of truck drivers. And my platoon Sargent is Fing all the un married e 4 and below females. Lol. I 4187 many time for Korea. .... FOR KOREA. I summit my packet for SF. Battion stopped all of them. Finally. I broke Chain of Command. Took a trip back to Leanardwood. Talked to my old BDE Commander that was now post Commander of Leonard wood. Got him to send off my packet to a, we will say opportunity, I agreed to loose a stripe and take a early retirement. 2 months later I'm standing in the C, nts office. As she tells me she is going to stop it from happening. The Next day. I recieve an overnight package from Ft Leanardwood at my house. With my new order. Sgt Wolfe ( I had been a Ssg. Lol). By orders if the DoD you have been aporoved for retirement @ 25% . Effective ETS 6: WEEKS FROM THEN. NEXT DAY I Started clearing. I had almost 60 days of leave saved up A week later I signed out on terminal leave. 2 months later. I have an E6 and two officers knocking in my door. I'm thinking. Oh shiza I'm being pulled back in. 9/11 had JUST happened. In my mind I'm already think and wanted to mess with them . I know 100% that I'm going to sign in at a different Battion. Even if I have to go to another fort to do so. I'm joking around for a bit Finally the Ssg get my attention WE ARE HERE BECAUSE YOUR WIFE WAS KILLED! what? No you are here to tell me that I need to report. I've been called back to duty right. NO Sargent! We are here for a Causalty call. YOUR WIFE HAS BEEN KILLED. Do not bother to call her Commander. He was put on leave and isn't even in the state of Texas right now. Wait. How long ago did this happen. Over 9 hours ago. AND YOU ARE JUST NOW TELLING ME? WHERE IS SHE. Well you can't see her. She was moved to Dallas for the obtosy. That is required by the state. ( I would not see her for almost 2 weeks) . The next few years are a blur. I know I finished my Bachelor's degree in 05. I know I bought a house and a new Jeep and for some reason sold the jeep. Tried willing my self to die many times. Not sure we're all the money went. Sept 01 to mid 07 is only a blur. From then on things, memories get better. I can remember prior to September 2001 just fine. and after June 2007 to present. But the time between just a couple flashes. Like leave a date at a restaurant. For asking me how I killed my wife. She had a 20 mile walk if I guessed correct. We were eating. She asked me that. I looked strait into her eyes. Stood up. Stopped at the place you pay your check. Handed the Waitress a $50. Walked out the door. Got in my Jeep and drove home. No we never talked again. That wasn't the only one. In all about 20 women over the years asked that same question. Oh. She was walking down the road and a car hit her. That's the simple answer. I was over 10 miles away. Getting things ready for our new business. Everything I had done for our business was lost. $20,000 sailboat was left in Florida $10,000 worth of inventory left in a storage building in Killeen And much more. Oh and $500,000. Well $400,000 of that. Gone. Who knows where. To this day I don't know where it went. I vegly remember my family asking me to buy thing for them. But I don't see $400,000 of stuff.
@IvanhoeWolfe-zn6fc I have a lot of respect for people who are in the military. The stuff you went through shouldn't be overlooked or laughed about. I'm not sure what I can say to make your day feel better, but... I'm rooting for you, sir. All the way. Don't give up. 🫡

I remember we could leave the bootcamp bay in the latter section of training but we needed a buddy with us and one person was supposed to do cadence. I was the one doing it and got in trouble for not saying 'left right left right'. Saying 'lo righty lo' gets you 200 push-ups before you can eat dinner.
