I am a true daughter of the Mediterranean. I was born on the coast of Egypt in the bustling cosmopolitan city of Port Said, the North entrance of the Suez Canal, & just a boat ride away from Italy, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine and Israel.

The coziest pastina soup with vegetables, tiny pasta, chicken broth and parmesan cheese. Who's trying it?!
Made this last night and added shredded chicken. It was so amazing and comforting. Just a hot bowl of wonderfulness.
My husband was put on the Mediterranean diet by his cardiologist a while ago. I found your channel and it has literally changed his life!! There are SO many options for him that are healthy AND delicious.
I’m making this soup next!!!! Thank you so much! Blessings to you!
That warms my heart to hear! I am so glad. Enjoy the pastina soup!
My husband is from Calabria and when I had a cold he made this for me. I tell you, that soup made me feel so much better. I believe it could even grow back a limb. 😊
I love that!
Thank you for sharing, that's great it looks sooo delicious, soup healthy to have it .

Thanks for the recipe. I had a horrible sinus infection and no appetite, and I made this soup and feel so much better!❤
Grew up on pastina (and stracciatella). I've made it for friends and it sounds deceptively boring but it's not, it's just peaceful. It's comfort in a bowl.
Pro tip: after your parmigiana rind is done providing flavor to your soup (or sauce, as we also use it), chef's perk is getting to eat the warm, soft, extra flavored rind. I swear, one of my favorite things to eat on earth is a chunk of parmigiana rind that's taken a long bath in some sugo. Heaven.
Thanks for sharing!
Yum!
I add an egg or two…depending how big my pot is.
Just stir it around.
Adds protein.
Just made this for dinner and it's delicious. My kids love the little stars and wanted seconds.
Glad you liked it!!
I can not wait to try! Every soup recipe of yours, that I've tried, I love!! This looks so easy too! Thanks Suzy!
Enjoy!
Cant wait to make this soon for me can i use vegetable broth i never had pastina soup before perfect for raining days in Singapore and after office meals
I have a cold and this soup is on the menu for tonight!
I hope this soup will help! Feel better!
I've been on a soup kick lately, so this recipe will definitely be added to the rotation to try! Thank you, Suzy! Please. keep these "immunity boosting" recipes coming! 🤗❤️
I wanted to add that I made your garlicky spinach (I subbed with kale that I had on hand) and chickpea soup from your cookbook and it was divine!!!
Of course! Enjoy!
When I was a child (many decades ago) my mother would cook the star-shaped pastina as a hot breakfast cereal with a little milk and a sprinkle of sugar! And she was of German descent! This soup looks so delicious, I need to try it, but I haven't seen pastina in the grocery stores. I have found orzo and many other shapes, but no pastina! Thanks!
Aw that is such a nice memory!
My Sicilian grandma and great grandma made something similar. I'd never heard the word pastina until the internet. It was chicken stock, Acini di pepe. After it was mostly cooked, we drizzled scrambled egg in and topped with a lot of parmesan cheese. My mom made it, and I made it for my kids.
Acini di pepe is a slightly larger pasta. Now that Ronzoni no longer makes the Pastina shaped pasta, everyone is substituting with Ancini de Pepe
@@carolynbiggianibieber1453 I don't know if there was a reason for it, but I know we've used it for over 60 years. It's the only way I've ever had it.
Grazie bella
Looks wholesome and yummy, but I need more heartiness without bread. I have a big appetite. Lol. I love watching you cook, and I pick up lots of tips no matter what. Ty!!
This soup was amazing like always you are an incredible chef I cook it twice !
Trying this recipe with dittalini pasta. That's the smallest pasta I can find here. SO glad you didn't throw out the vegetables!
Of course! Dittalini pasta will work. Enjoy!
Sheeeeessshhh thats 🔥
Can’t wait to try it
I made this on Monday and your Mediterranean White Bean veggie soup today. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Que rrrico!
I was married to an Italian for 17 years. His mother made acene de pepe. She fed it to the babies too bc it’s perfect of little ones with few teeth or no teeth. She added different things to it. Acene de pepe looks just like pastina.
Yummy 😋
Italian pro tip, cook the pasta on the side so it doesnt overcook, add it at the end for smaller servings
Thanks!
Wow pastina soup recipe I love this food yummy❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for sharing😊
Of course! Enjoy!
❤ An Italian love affair ⭐
I haven't seen the star or alphabet pasta in ages!
Q
Look for it in the Mexican section of the grocery store. They mostly come in
7 oz packets prices range from
$0.24 to $0.49 each.
ALDI is cheapest!
Q ❤
Looks so good. Was thinking chicken or even grilled shrimp would be delicious in that.
Oh yes!
Use an immersion blender. So much easier
I grew up on this soup however Pastina is no longer manufactured from what I understand. I can't find it in stores or online. Can anyone tell me where you are finding it?
Tops market. Barilla makes it
I buy a tiny pasta called ancini de Pepe. I think Dellalio makes it. They have it at my grocery store.
Very nice. I'm a novice at best. How long do you boil the hard vegetables before simmering them? And can I use an immersion blender in lieu of a food processor which I don't have? Thank you very much.
Simmer until the vegetables are very tender, 20 to 30 minutes. And yes, absolutely!
Thank you so much. Your an amazing chef. I honestly didn't think I'd hear back from you. Nice surprise.
Recipe please & thank you 😊
I am not familiar with Parmesan rind. Where do you find this? I’ve seen Parmesan cheese but what does the rind look like? Walmart is the biggest food store I’m mostly at.
If you buy a block of fresh Parmesan it will have a rind on it, you would just cut a chunk off of that rind to use. 😀
@@river8760 thanks
@@Elainelovejoy no problem 😀
No garlic???
Where are you from ? Italy or Greece?
Egypt, actually!
You don’t look Egyptian more Asian than anything else
Nonas recipe?? Packet stock and food processor? Why don't I believe this?
Because you don’t know enough of the culture to believe that Nona would have had a blender. It’s the techniques not the tools and modern packets that we use.
@@evanmcd2028 every change changes everything. That's what nonna said
@@mickzammit6794 not my Nona. 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you for the beneficial video. Hope you have a fantastic day!
