We hope you enjoyed the video and found the differences in performance as impressive as we did. A big thanks to Titleist for the invitation and to Rachel for her time! Best club fitting video I have ever watched. And high praise to Rachel for her knowledge and advice through her experience in club fitting. What a great personality from both.
Wow, thank you! Did you see the follow up one? I ended up with a u505 4iron 5&6 T350s and 6-pw T200s great combo set and I’m loving them!
@Easiestswing Senior Golfer Gains 20+ Yards... Titleist Irons & Graphite Shafts
ruclips.net/video/6j-KXVeo2jE/видео.html
I went graphite shafted iron a year and a half ago. Best thing I ever did. It changed my tempo. The easier I swing, the further it goes…easiest swing in golf. I’m all in. Thanks for sharing Phillip.
Brilliant Barry great to hear this and I’m going back for a full fitting soon we may well film that session too. I noticed plenty of the players at the masters were using graphite too. It’s time to change I know my brother would be happy he wanted me to change to graphite after I broke my wrist six years ago. Now - is not a moment too soon!
Very interesting vlog, so much to think about. I am 70 yrs of age and my irons are Wilson, steel shaft. After watching this episode I think I will pop into my local American golf and try out some different shafts.
Make sure you get properly fitted for them. I used to be a club fitter and more than 90% of club golfers play with clubs not suited to them. When you’re buying, if you go to a decent fitter it won’t cost any extra.
Interesting video. Im 57, fit and a 2 handicap. I also have 15 year old Ping S56 with Project x 6.0 shafts D6 swing weight. Recently noticing the S56 feel 'dead' , exactly as you described. I have a 4 hybid with a regular steel fiber graphite shaft that i tend to gravitate towards on the range and just really hit it well and it feels great. Timely video.
Time for a new set I reckon! Glad the video was helpful 👍
Excellent video and very informative education from Rachel through the range of shafts and benefits.😊
Thanks David glad you enjoyed it. 👍
I recently went to Ping at Gainsborough for a fitting. I am 70 years old and was hoping graphite shafts would help my game. My old clubs are PING G400 steel shafts. I was given the same regular steel shaft with a G730 and was amazed how far I could hit the ball. I also tried a lighter steel shaft and a graphite shaft, but was 10 to 15 yards shorter. "We don't fit to age" was the comment from the PING fitter. I am 6 feet 4 inches, with long levers and fortunately for me my club head speed hasn't dropped with age.
My coach is Julian Mellor, who used to work with Easiest Swing, he now runs Proper Golfing.
I just finished reading Brian Sparks book - la Danse du Golf intrigued me but i did not give it much thought in terms of it didn't strike me as a game changer. I've always had a short restricted type swing, straight, never long and always lacking that consistency thing. This weekend i went to the golf range and got 75 balls . The first sixty i used in a similar way to how i always use them - easy swing with no trying to hard. Yes, got some results all be it indifferent . But some smacks of a 3 wood made me feel good. Then, i had 15 balls left and i thought of Brian Sparks. Ok, danse du golf, lets do it.
I now want to know where all those years have gone - what have i been doing with my life. I smashed a Ping eye three wood 200 yards nearly all carry. This danse thing is for real man, i virtually closed my eyes and walloped it. I hit thirteen out of 15 balls right down there. I hit 180 - 200 yards consistent. I have never in forty years of playing golf done it! Would you understand me if i said - i feel cheated somewhat!
Brian’s brother Philip here.
Oh my, if only I had listened to Brian better all the time he was here I too could have been so much better. Since he left us and I have headed up ES I have had to adopt all his principles so much more - after all, eyes have been on what I have been doing. My game and in particular ball striking is the best of my life. I could feel cheated too or I could just say “sorry brother I wish I had listened better!”
Enjoy your new found freedom and consider getting the new book “The Easiest Swing in Golf.” It may take you even further. 👍
Excellent example of just how much newer tech can help us seasoned players continue to compete at a reasonably higher level. I would have given up the game several years ago if it weren't for modern equipment. Thanks for the enlightening vid
You’re welcome Ray! It is quite staggering just how much help is available with new equipment and a good fitting session. Really pleased you enjoyed the video, cheers.
Really enjoyed the video Philip 👍
We all need a little help as we get older
Thanks Ian, I have to say I was aware my clubs were getting a little tired but was truly shocked by these results. I wasn’t really in the market before I tried these clubs out but it’s a bit like trying to put the genie back in the bottle!! … just got to persuade my wife it’s a good investment in my retirement now ha ha!
Great insight into the shafts, and how they assist the more senior golfer in getting the ball in the air higher. Thanks for the video Philip. At 68 years of age I too am using Graphite shafts in all my clubs.
Really pleased you enjoyed the video and found the content interesting and helpful. As a senior it is definitely worth looking at graphite shafts in the irons. It looks like you are already reaping the benefits they offer!
Hi Phillip, can you give me more information on the graphite shafts you tried at Titleist on the T350? And the softer one (senior shaft) that Tracey recommended, thanks. Keep up the god work that Brian started years ago. Cheers
Yes, absolutely. The graphite was the Tensei AV Red AM2 Iron in Regular flex. This can also be found in A Flex which is a softer flex still and good for slower swing speeds.
I played S56 and they were great clubs. If you’ve been happy with those irons for 14 years you’re plainly a good ball striker and age is not a reason to go to game improvement irons. The modern equivalents of the S56 are very much more playable whilst retaining that compact “ precision” looking head and feel. You can get some extra distance by tweaked lofts and lighter shafts but as you know distance is not the main criteria with a mid iron. You don’t show the grouping you achieved with the trial club compared to the S56 ? I would suggest Ping blueprint S irons with dynamic gold 105 regular shafts would suit you just fine whilst still reminding you that you’re still a ball striker. I’m 70+ and tried the distance iron approach with Callaway Apex, they were long but,for me, inconsistent and the hot face in the shorter irons made them lack feel on the ‘scoring’ shots. I’ve been with Ping i blades now for 6 years and they suit me just fine.
Thanks for those thoughts Derek I’m actually tempted to go T350 irons up to 6 then T200 down to wedges. But I have to say the modern graphite shaft feels so much better than what I was selling 12 years ago I am very tempted. I also don’t like changing clubs often so this set could end up lasting until I’m 80 so definitely need to consider reg as you suggest. Changing clubs was only a vague idea until I tried these out with Titleist. It would be a strange move though as I have played Pings since 1978! But I have to say both the feel and the flight of those irons was really something else. Can’t get that out of my head right now!!
Very nice content. I have a question about your finish position. Where do you fill the weight on your left foot? Heel?
Yes that’s right the weight starts under the balls of your feet and rotates to your heels at both ends of your swing.
Very useful video, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Well sir. Did you order a set of T350s and if so then what did you order (i.e. detailed specs)? Your fans (which I am one) want to know!!
I’m going to get a set sorted they’ll be a mix of T350 long irons T200 short irons and Vokey wedges.
I love my graphite shafts...less shock in the arms on mishits.
Looking forward to getting mine too!
IMO manufacturers are fooling people by advertising that todays irons are longer ....yes they are but due to the fact that the lofts are stronger an new 7 iron could now be equal loft to an older 6 or even 5 iron....and with shorter modern shafts makes the difference....
There is no doubt that lofts have changed dramatically from those of years ago. You may even find that there is nearly a two club difference from back in the day. The thing that is incredibly impressive is the height and decent angle that is achieved despite the stronger lofts. They are hitting a max apex height far higher than the more lofted equivalent club, travelling further and descending steeper. It convinced us it’s time to upgrade 🏌️
@@Easiestswing could that be attributed to the modern shafts....???
There is no doubt that the shafts have improved significantly over the years and are helping with the overall performance. In terms of length, we're not sure. However, a standard length 7 iron nowadays is about 0.5 inch longer than they used to be, possibly accounting for stronger lofts.
Wow! I have been very suspicious of the claims for new clubs extra distances, because of the different face angles. But, this was a great explanation of how technology really has improved things.
My wife won’t be happy: it might be time I went for a proper fitting.
Thank you very much, the both of you, for this very interesting video.
You're very welcome and we are delighted that it has helped inform you of why a proper fitting is so important. As for the new clubs, we like to use the classic - "but once I'm fitted properly I will have this set for years!" 😁
Hi Philip……have the book, Brian era, but I have lately been pulling my driver and iron shots. I can have a great round going and I destroy it with a straight pull. I need Help!! Do not get me wrong I hit many many wonderful shots but then the pull comes a long and kills the round. Any suggestions, maybe I am swaying? If you can let me know. Big Thanks
Often a pull happens when you cure the open clubface issue. Unfortunately this then exposes a swing path issue. Take a look at this video and see if this is the problem Stop Slicing FOREVER! The *SECRET* Golf Swing Tip You NEED To Know
ruclips.net/video/uqrVgKSnlh8/видео.html
Good luck with it 👍
Sometimes I wish that manufacturers had not mucked about with club lofts because it has rendered the club numbers meaningless. They did it of course for marketing reasons. Not only do the irons now have strong lofts, but they had to introduce extra clubs to make up the gap between the 9 iron and the wedges, hence the need now for extra wedges, e.g. pitching wedge (46 degrees - what?) , gap wedge, lob wedge, sand wedge....When will it all end?
Perhaps you remember the days of the 10 iron? As you rightly point out the club numbers bare little relation to the numbers they once did. Tbh the most important aspect to know is how far your average yardage is with each club regardless of the number on the bottom. Carrying extra wedges in place of longer clubs is no bad thing either. The most astonishing part in defence of the manufacturers is the peak apex height that is achieved despite the stronger lofts, they are going higher than the old counterpart, travelling further and stopping quicker. It is impressive!
Well done, really impressed with the distance gained on miss hits.No mention of PRICE.
Thanks Peter. As you could see Philip was very impressed with the performance and the forgiveness of the T350's. Price wise they are £1249 5-GW (7 Clubs) on AmericanGolf. That appears to be with regular steel shafts.
Do you know I have no idea! We are not selling them or gaining any commission, we just wanted to try them out as a pure exercise. So if you are interested I’d suggest a Quick Look online or call around your local retailers.
Hi Philip
What driver would you recommend for a quite senior golfer please?
Hi Kieran that’s very difficult to recommend without knowing your handicap, clubhead speed, distance, build etc etc. having said all of that I worked on the range tee at the 21 Open and noticed how much higher the pros hit the ball now. Shortly after this I changed my driver going from a 9.5° to a 10.5° and with newer technology have increased my fall flight height whilst also reducing spin. But I’m interested to try Titleist’s new driver due out in a few weeks as I think I may want to get the ball flying even higher still. The key is to go to a really experienced club fitter who will make sure you buy the right club for you not just what she/he wants to sell you. If you are in the market make sure you get this advice it will pay dividends.
@@Easiestswing Thanks for the advice.
Do you think regular graphite shafts are easier to hit compared to regular steel.
Thinking of making the change to graphite
Hi Daniel difficult to answer this without any knowledge of your age, ability, power, handicap, climate you play in etc etc! But in very general terms I think graphite shafts have improved massively in recent years and I’d certainly recommend them for seniors. If you are uncertain see if your local clubfitter will loan you a medium iron in regular graphite to try out for a couple of weeks you’ll soon know and could save you purchasing the wrong set.
It's been at least 10 years since I bought a set of irons. I can't believe how expensive they are now. $1500+ I'm not good enough to spend that much!
Yes I get that but actually golf is not bad in this respect because you are likely to get 10 years out of a set so $150 a year versus what you might spend on equipment on baby other sports is not too bad. Though of course I’m not including the cost of golf balls!! 😂
@@Easiestswing Like everything else in life golf became more expensive. I think I had sticker shock at Golf Town in Canada. $800 drivers, $250 wedges and $1500 iron sets. Golf balls and tees are about the only thing I can afford! Lol. Plus I only play 5-6 times a year.
Look at the Tour Edge
Great video. 👍
Thank you, we're pleased you enjoyed it 😁
I've watched several "Easiest Swing" videos (10-15) now. I've heard it mentioned about "standing more erect". BUT...what about overall club length? Is it suggested, converting to the "Easiest Swing", to have slightly longer clubs...especially irons? Any changes to club lie? Or can a golfer still use standard length clubs with these swing mechanics?
This really depends on your own build and angle of attack. If you have had your existing set fitted beforehand you may need them to be lengthened a little 1/4-1/2” lie probably won’t need changing but possibly 1° up. Best to go and see a good club fitter and get checked out. Hope that helps.
Great information especially for us old ‘uns however can I suggest that the use of music in the background when you’re talking adds nothing but detracts from the video and makes it a little difficult to hear.
Otherwise a really good informative video
Thanks Stuart appreciate your feedback. If you’d like more info but less commercialism consider joining the ES Club I’m sure you’d get a lot out of it.
Great video. I think you have the title phrasing backwards on the thumbnail.
You’re very welcome, glad you enjoyed it. Philip is pointing at his old Pings in the thumbnail. Hopefully that makes a little more sense now 😄
@@Easiestswing Ohhhh… sorry. I missed that.
No worries… easy to miss 👍
I have tried the easy swing can't get on with it to many moving parts so I gone back to stack and tilt
Sorry to hear ES hasn’t worked for you. It’s the first time we have heard this but I suppose no one style is going to work for everyone and if S&T works better for you then at least you have tried both and discovered what works best for you. Good luck and if you ever want to give ES another go we will be here ready to help.
Hi Phillip...Good video...I hate cavity back clubs.. had one set years ago and hated them. .have been using Blades for years and would never go back..i just don't like the look of cavity backs when at address...it's just my preference .
Glad you enjoyed the video Brian. A few years back I would have said the same thing. However, these T350’s are nothing like the cavity backs of yesteryear. Also bear in mind a lot of the tour pros are using T100, T150 and T200 models, having a little help is not a bad thing. As with all things, it comes down to personal preference and what you are most comfortable using. You want to feel confident and happy when picking up a club to play. Keep swing easy 🏌️
Thank you Phillip I may try once again and will inform you of the outcome..@@Easiestswing
@@briannagle6328There are very sleek cavity back irons like the T100 or T150, Mizuno MP 243, Ping Blueprint S and player's hollow body like TaylorMade P770.
Why not go with graphite Stiff ?
As I am going to have 2” longer I will definitely go with stiff.
Thank you for the reply.
Very surprised that she did not once talk about the spin numbers.
Surely she has the right shaft to get your spin numbers higher? Angle of decent is important but so is spin.
Actually I don’t want to increase my spin as I tend to create too much spin!... This was one of the things that really impressed me that I could get greater height and carry with a sharper decent with a reduced spin. We didn’t include it as in this regard it doesn’t relate well to most golfers who as you rightly say need to increase spin.
What a sharp lady.
She was wonderful to work with and extremely professional. 👍
Nice
So nice 😁
My clubs are 2009
Which is first - your birthday or Christmas? 🎁🤩
@@Easiestswing Lol 😆
I'm old.
LESS YARDS, MORE WORK... I think you messed up your clickbait ..lol
Slightly confusing but it’s aimed at my old clubs. But of reverse psychology 😂
@@Easiestswing Ok, I see. Yes glad new technology is working out for you.
I have ping S58’s, love them. The modern tech is very good, even with the cranked lofts, but I still prefer the look of some of the older clubs. She was very good. It’s funny, a lot of vids talk about bringing the height down for more control? The one downside to these modern clubs is the price, not much change from a thousand pounds or more🤔Great vid👍🏌️
Thank you and glad you found it interesting 👍
is this mark crossfield in 20 years?
Should one of us be concerned by this and if so which one? 😂
