I just finished this free tutorial, and I want to encourage anyone who is interested in learning to paint animals realistically in watercolor to give it a try. I learned so much. Rebecca isn’t just a talented artist, She’s an excellent teacher, and very helpful and supportive. I’m definitely going to be signing up for her paid subscription!
I don't usually comment on videos, but as a lecturer in design myself I know a good teacher when I see one - and you are one. What a wonderful video from an extremely talented person, and one who is generous enough to share her skills and knowledge. thankyou.
I loved your video. The details were so precise (like how thick the consistency of the paint should be). I am going to try this out and see what I can do.
Thank-you for this excellent tutorial, it was so helpful! Your teaching approach was perfect for me, very detailed instructions. The Dog's eye is so realistic and beautiful. I'm working on eye's right now!
Thank you for explaining your step by step process in such detail, including the level of paper dampness and consistency of your paint! I am new to watercolor and learning on my own with videos/books, so I can't tell you how helpful it is to know these things. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorials on painting dogs. The instructions for creating eyes has transformed my own painting. When doing pet portraits, I've always struggled with the eyes and nose above all parts. Thanks to you, my improvement has been dramatic. Bless you for your generous sharing of knowledge. Your animal portraits are the finest I've seen.
Rebecca, thank you for a brilliant instructional video. Your style exactly suits my way of working. I usually work with coloured pencil but thanks to inspiration from you I recently completed my first watercolour of a dog's head; it wasn't perfect but as a first attempt I was very pleased with how it turned out.
An excellent tutorial. thank you. I have been an art instructor for many years but this is one of the best teachings I. have met. there is a thoughtful and intelligent balance between experienced practical technique and a generous sharing of your inspired intuition about colour and form and the control of the medium, using a minimal but essential number of colours. Well Done. what fine brush do you recommend for carful controlled detail please?

Albert, I've learned that you can create so many different kinds of greys and blacks with this combination of blue and brown - so much more than if using straight black.

I'm just curious, but why don't you use black paint instead of the blue? Is this just preference or is there an exact reason?
Albert, I've learned that you can create so many different kinds of greys and blacks with this combination of blue and brown - so much more than if using straight black.
Easy to follow along. Also very inspiring. I'm a little out of practice but this reminds me of how great my paintings can be if I keep practicing :)
