@@cottonwood4935 You could also listen to Robert Schuller and his motivational tapes - he also mentions straightening nails to build the next house during the depression.
My compliments to Brian. He represents the very best of our generation in terms of his honor, integrity, manhood, fathering, and mentoring of the next generation. So much of humanity is seemingly lost these days as many people have shifted their morals to non-morality in the case of everything being pushed on society by the extreme factions in control. Thank heavens there are still a few good men who teach their sons to be real men. We need more men like Brian and Cole.
Farmer’s decision making not just tillage, planting and harvesting, but when to “spray or mow” and when to maintain equipment. I love your use of duck tape, vice grips and power tools! Cole, when you responded “I can’t do nothing right” I remember telling that to my Dad years ago in his upholstery shop! Takes all the joy out of helping if you never get any positive encouragement! Keep up the good work, Cole and Brian! You two rock the YT farming scene. Cole, I love it when you keep busy….cutting up palettes, cleaning out the livestock trailer, brushing out the equipment barn, mulching up trees/brush and pulling things out of the weeds
That was some pretty snappy back-&-forth between Cole and Brian. I giggled through most of this video. I think Hippopotamus means "River Horse" - but in your case I think it should be "River COW". 🐮🐄
I was actually glad you showed some ditch mowing. It must be a lot easier now compared to back in the 70's and 80's and before. People used to drive the back roads and dump so much stuff compared to now, likely still find tires but, it used to be stoves, refrigerators, you name it! It was kind of fun to see you at the controls of an older tractor. Hope you get a whole load out of those ditches.
You guys spend a lot of time doing maintenance on your Equipment. I know that is important to do. Saves trouble in the long run. Hope get some good bales from the ditches. Take Care and Be safe on the farm.
He's right about the thank you. In scouts we used it as a confirmation you are receiving and have control of a knife. I now use it for tools and materials at work.
I'm like you dad, I just have an issue with throwing away old bolt and nuts and such to save money. I like that you guys do hay from the ditches, frugal thinking, just like saving the old bolts. I'm anxious to see the 4050 at work, I like the older tractors, not that the new ones are bad. Thanks for the video, hope your week is good!
I mowed a field on my father’s hobby farm one afternoon and came back that evening. I walked through the woods and came out into the field and saw like fifty turkeys feeding on grasshoppers. Well turkeys went one way and I went the other way. They scared me something awful. Turkeys will feast on those grasshoppers most especially after you mow. Cole. Build up some flocks around there. Well. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. God Bless !
Nice one Cole always enjoy you're videos listing to you and Brian always puts a smile on my face Hope those grasshopper don't get into you're crops I've just seeing a farmer in Canada that had a whole 90 acres of corn completely destroyed with them it's unbelievably the damage they can do Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
99 percent of kids these days should be made to watch farm channels like Sonne Farms so they just might get it thru their thick heads how hard it is to raise the beef in their fast food. Ain't no 9 to 5 punch the clock and go out and goof when your Daddy raises ya to follow in his muck boots. I grew up in a small Michigan farm town myself so I do know and appreciate the hard work farmers put in.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. The 4050 tractor you dad got seems to be a nice unit yet. You will get good use out of it. Mowing ditches. Been there done that. Memories. You will get some hay from the ditches I am sure. Good show Cole throwing the old cutter blades away. When they are done , they are done. Bye. My family saved tons of stuff like that and when they had the farm sale we threw tons of small items away. Memories. You are keeping busy with lots of maintenance jobs. Like they sweeper you have for the big sheds concrete floor. Does a good job. Neat. About it I guess. Thanks for everything Sonne’s. Take care and be safe. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Well it’s a catch 22 with those grasshoppers and mowing the ditches. I personally like the fall and winter but I don’t work outside. So I’d probably switch spring and fall if I did 😂
Why don't farmers put doors in each end of their implement sheds? If they did, they'd only have to move half of the implements to get to the buried ones.
My grandfather was a farmer and had plenty of room for doors at both ends, but instead spent half the day digging out implements in the back of the shed.@@Kim-TexasHobbyFarmer
The longer the extension the weaker the driver gets. I thought you were tinkeling indoors to get on Big Daddy's nerves. My dad had second and third reuse bins. When you used "new" he said "was there nothing in the bins ?" Ditch bales are like stolen cookies, it tastes better. As well it makes the property look better maintained. See them black mooes crowd the shade and hit the pool. Good video. Pax.
That was grins!! Nice to see how well you two work together. I love it!! Lotsa lotsa jobs like that to make a farm work. Some kinda fall by the wayside some times but have to be caught up later. I hadn't considered making use of ditch greens. Purty smart! Thanks again Cole for taking us all along with you. I know I certainly enjoyed the trip.
That’s the kind of mower we used to cut hay with. My daddy saved every old blade. We bought a new set at the beginning of each cutting season we’d turn them over about half way through.
We've got a Vermeer M8050 with the quick hitch system. Put the bar on the 3 pt and drop one side, back up, raise that side back up, hook up the 3rd arm and PTO and you're ready to mow.
Love the videos, Cole! One observation, how come you don’t back the vehicles into the garage? Just wondering. It may be easier to work on them if some thing doesn’t start. Thank you and Brian for your work as farmers. !!
Looked like the family tree nearly died when Brian backed up to the mower Col you moved quickly also mowing the roadsides is go fire prevention looking forward to harvest 😃😂❤️
Good morning, everyone.. Brian hope your elbow is doing much better. These are actual numbers from the State of Oregon (Eastside area) during drought of 2022.- If you had 6/7 Grasshoppers per square yard, across 10 acres, you have enough grasshoppers that eat as much forage as a full grown cow. If you had 17 grasshoppers per square yard, across 40 acres, they're eating a ton of forage per day. 🦗🦗🦗🦗
Good morning and thank you for your response. Absolutely, I agree with you on that statement. I see rain or irrigation suppressing them and when land is parched you see a lot more .@@waynejones5239
Those aftermarket attachments come with single braid hoses and British standard thread pattern fyi gonna have to tell them that if the thread seems off
this mower requires that the right rear wheel is moved in as far as it will go. I dont want to have the 7520 that way year around, but it doesnt bother me on the 6125
We have big grasshoppers here in Florida, they are about 4 inches long, fat and yellow. They hatch as little black bugs and there are hundreds from each nest. They can clear a garden or field in a short time. Nothing kills them unless you pinch them in to or step on them. Birds will not even eat them.
You gotta do what you gotta do. When the weather doesn't cooperate, ditch bales it is.
Best line, “Gotta throw these away before Dad puts them on a shelve to reuse.”
I remember as a kid in the 60's, on a rainy day straightening nails in the shop for Grandpa and putting them in a bucket under the bench.
Wow. That time of year when one gets bored 😂. All clam before the the fall fun begins. Great video

Great video. Love the old iron.
You better get a massive big shed built for Brian's acquisitions for older farm machinery. Have entry from both ends for easy storage .
