Glad to see you try this game out. A lot of people dismiss it for being a minecraft clone, but it does offer a unique experience. Obviously it looks similar because it mimics real life things. The biomes, tech tree, mobs and underground are all done very well.
+theSirhc If minecrafts underground acted like this games then I'd enjoy it a bit more these days. I like this game for what it does, and so far its doing well for itself so there is that.

Yeah... lol Looks familiar, but there are some pretty big differences, from watching BDubs play it.
Just because it looks similar doesn't mean it's not worth playing. I'm normally pretty much a Minecraft watcher, but I'll watch this series. Why not. :)

I have no idea how it was developed. It's not so far-fetched that someone else could come up with a block-based game (Terarria, et al).
Meh. Whatever. I don't see a similarity to a wildly popular game as a death knell for a new game. Just something that makes me watch to see if it's truly a clone or something unique, before deciding whether to watch.
+Timothy McSwain To me the block based games are turning into a genre of their own at this point. Minecraft does what it does well but lacks some things that other creators might disagree with. Someone once built a car, then someone made it better. I've seen a fair number of youtuber's play this game a while back, they enjoyed it until they run out of content at that current time, which was like a year ago. I having been keeping track but I assume its grown more since then. All I have to say at this point is, don't judge a book by its cover.
+Timothy McSwain That is a VERY unfair comment. You can't judge a game like this if you have never played it yourself. Just because you watch it does not mean that it is not good. Sure it looks like MC, but it is NOT MC.
Heck Notch even said that MC was not entirely original either. He played another game and took things from that to put into MC.
+Timothy McSwain Im not a Lawyer, but I feel like the developers could potentially get sued for this game honestly. Ironically the title of the game is Creativerse aswell.
Skumtomten1 I there is a large enough difference in gameplay etc that them being sued isn't really a concern. As beef said its free to play, if you feel up to it I'd say go try it out, play for a few hours and allow that to show you. ^-^
Was anyone else bothered by the stalactites being on the ground?

+Switch Yes... stalagmite, stalactite. Why not use the right terms, people playing this kind of game are the sort who're likely to do a quick google check and learn the proper term from the experience, rather than just sitting there in confusion.

Oh look, yet another Minecraft clone.
Though it seems like this one is more unique than other Minecraft like games.
Only way it's close is blocks

A few basic things I like in this game are the compass at the top of the screen, it shows temperature where you are because there are effect in the game like getting hot or cold along with others. It has a map (can show whole world or zoom into area near you), If you have PRO (paid version of game) you get a glider and flashlight. The glider and flashlight you don't craft and they never break, they are just there and infinite, There's a rotation option (Hold R and Left Mouse Button and move mouse to rotate things). The game has actual table and chair (can sit in). You can jump up 2 blocks or if the world's setting has _"Low Gravity"_ on you can jump higher and don't take fall damage when you fall off a regular height tree. You can now paint everything other colors. There's many things not in "vanilla" Minecraft (no mods). However, this game does not allow mods or texture packs. You only add more things available in the _STORE_ (in-game).
i really like how this game looks so peaceful, it seems like there are tons of blocks to choose from if your a builder, and a good loot system if you enjoy PvE. Most people probebly dont know what the Blockheads is, but that was a game i really liked for the same reason.
'R' is the rotate button. use it by holding 'R' while hovering over the block you wish to rotate and then clicking and dragging with you your mouse button, the rotation that you choose will affect all the same blocks until you change block on your toolbar (experiment with it). also to kinda quick select a certain rotation of a block but tap 'R' while highlighted on that block (also only works with same blocks). This game has so many different materials and blocks you're going to love it and i cant wait to see what you build with it! (i currently have like 60+ hours in this game omfg)
also for those who cant run minecraft on their computer (too much lag) this game will run like a dream! its also free to play so thats a plus if you just want to try it (no need for micro transactions unless you want some special blocks that are not integral to game play at all, you dont need to pay for servers or anything its all there))
This video gives me sooooo much nostalgia.They have improved creativerse so much throught the years.
If the character didn't look like a 7yr old, I might be interested. I'd rather ignore this one until you can customize the character.

It's a first person game... Who cares what the character looks like.. Also, so you can relate to a square 7 year old character (minecraft), but not this 7 year old.. nope he's just toooo strange haha

Håkon K / SpringSamurai :: "Covers" are a media device. They are meant to represent a glimmer of the book -- to entice the person to pick it up. Characters in a game are not that different, they represent an important part of the game -- and occasionally you the game player. Every time I bring up my inventory, I don't want to see a stupid generic-looking stand-in bobbing up & down -- visualizing what I am suppose to be in this game. It's kiddish right now, so I (not you, perhaps not even Beef) would rather wait before I immerse myself in it.
SpringSamurai :: I don't like Harry Potter and I don't want to read the books. Yes, I'm missing out on a wonderful and detailed series that many people enjoy. I am not one of them because not everyone enjoys exactly the same thing. If I were to detail out every little aspect of this game I dont enjoy or am off-put from, this would be more of a lecture course then a comment. Sorry to disappoint you.

Sanstar :: Good point. I knew some cool 7yr olds at one point but they grew older. They were interesting at 7. A generic, baseless, nameless biped is not.
Can't say I'm into this, it just another unimaginative Minecraft clone. You can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig. There is a car-building game that Robbaz and FalseSymmetry played recently that might be up your street, being a car bloke and all :)
I just finished getting to the top set of everything that you can make in this game it is really cool. You will like this game Beef! Expectantly once you find out all that you have to do to make things and the places to explore like to corruption layer of the world.
Also pay attention Beef because when you make things or when you pick up new things it opens up new options of things for you to make like when you made the door there is a new door for you to make, that is one thing that I liked about the game.
NOTE - NO long range weapons except bombs. & you walked right past Coal in the cave it is just a black square. Look right above your action bar no matter what you have out it will show you what you are looking at, you do not have to bring your "Cell" out to look at what the block is.
The Death Statue icon on the compass is different now. Now it's a white skull icon.
Also I like that when you die and all your item are stored in the Death Statue, there's no time limit to collect. They don't despawn in 5 minutes. They stay there even when you shut down the game and come back in later.
I was sad to say I was burnt out on minecraft as its my favourite game and it was sad to see youtubers playing less of it. But this game is so much better, and now I can watch Beef again!
When you press R it enables you to rotate the blocks, so if you press R and hold it on the block you can rotate it by moving your mouse. When you get the little lock icon appear that means that you've locked that block after rotating it and then you can place the blocks sideways for example instead of rotating each one.
I bought this game when it first came out, I paid $25 and helped devs with ideas cause they were great at listening to the community back then, I was the one who came up with the idea of the taming bell.
This Game is sick and the graphics are on point hope you can make a series of it!!!
This looks really good. It seems like the devs looked at everything Minecraft did wrong, and fixed it. I hope this game gains a lot of new features and develops a modding scene. It may be a worthy successor one day.
Honestly it just looks like minecraft with couple texture packs and mods.
My only problem with this is the painfully obvious copying of Minecraft's terrain. I don't mind trying to do Minecraft better, but that's a bit much.
If you hold R, aim at a block with your mining cell, and click/drag the block it will rotate that block. Really hope you continue with this game for a series! It is incredibly fun! You should try making a roller coaster...
This game can be addictive. You can farm, tame mobs, explore, build like mad (blueprints are glorious). And this is only early access...just wait to see how far it goes. :) And the devs LISTEN to their players, which is probably the best part.
I've done so many searches for Minecraft alternatives over the past year (2017) and never once did this game ever come up in a Google search. It wasn't until recently that I finally found it. I think I found it when someone referenced it in a "let's play" video. It's nice to see one of these that's not Java based and works. I still have hopes for Blockscape. But, seeing as how the creator of that game hasn't done much, I'm not holding out. Besides, this combines Minecraft's default gameplay with some IndustrialCraft. I especially like how the texture looks like PureBDCraft.

Love how shift is sprint in this game while it's crouch in Minecraft. Lots of fun while trying to carefully approach the edge of a block over a lava pit. :P

They added so much stuff in Creativerse the last few months! There are lots of creatures and you can even tame creatures. I stopped playing for a while because I had micro stutters, but I think they fixed that.
Hey Beef I remember watching this on Bdubs channel and the "cute" looking mobs during the day aren't hostile but during the night they change colour and become hostile also the names of the blocks you're looking at are above your stamina and health bar. Love this game hope you make more 😁😁
First thought was just another Minecraft copy, totally wrote the game off then I saw how different and unique the crafting and enemys are, and how much interesting gameplay there is. Thanks for showing me the game will be playing it, but also watching you play it aswell.

How are you finding the game so far? Particularly in regards to building, the block rotation mechanic can be really useful.
That canyon biome you found can be a dangerous place to live, but it's certainly fun to build in. It's where I've set up shop myself actually.
Also in regards to microtransactions, currently the only things purchasable are new decorative blocks (blocks are still being added to the free game in updates) and blueprints, which are just building guides, essentially. They've made a promise to not attach transactions to anything that directly affects gameplay. Hopefully it'll stay that way. :)
With notes and discs, "reading them" is just the tooltip you see on highlighting them. They don't actually do anything except add flavour text, at least for the moment.
Anyway, I wish you well in your adventures, looking forward to seeing where your series goes. :)
It's interesting to see the first impressions of someone to whom a game is new when one is fairly familiar with it. I know you're up to 11 episodes on this right now, it'll be interesting to see your progress as I watch through these. I only see 4 of your Creativerse episodes in your playlist, though :)
Been playing minecraft for a good year and a half and I can tell by 2:30 from starting the video that this has genuine promise. Already its faster, smoother, better graphics and I must say I do like the idea of an engineering omni-tool on the arm to get stuff done.
+Sy Thinking about it, rather than dropping the little bag when you die, it would be better to drop the wrist tool. Not only would it add an element of you needing to retrieve it for sure but the thing seems to work as an energy to matter converter (vice versa) so i think the converted items should be stored within the omni-tool as energy that can then be converted back into the original blocks when you need them. Mass = energy etc etc...
You could also add a mechanic where if you level up high enough, you get the option to learn schematics that could teach you how to convert a block into energy and later use that energy to create another block type rather than just back into the block type that you originally picked up. The rarer the block to be created, the higher the energy cost. Stuck with diamonds and no food? No worries, 1 diamond can be converted into 4 loaves of bread... etc etc
Come on developers... If you're watching, make it happen. :D

Go to a beach. The crab things drop what you need for the armor. A big plus is you don't have to fight them at night.

You don't need to kill the night rocksters to get what you need for the stone sword. the normal ones spawn near the beach. If you stand in the water you can attack them but they won't attack you.
When creatures are on fire it means they are night creatures. They burn when they come in contact with the sun. Also make a house before dark. If you put torches in your house you can prevent night creatures from spawning in them. They can still get in though without harm so you may want to completely seal it.
You drop all your stuff where you die and it takes the dorm of a touch stone. There is a light that can be seen from almost any where. Also is shown by a skull in the compass bar.
BdoubleO gave this game a go - and the negativity I saw in the comments and his discontinuation of the series left me really sad - I really hope you stay on this game because I really enjoy watching it!

It also shows the time of day and temp at the top of the screen where the compass is and a picture of whether it is morning, mid day, sunset, or night.
Hey, Beef! I'm enjoying this series. Don't listen to the others, because this definitely is not a Minecraft clone. They'd have to play it and be immersed with it to understand. I hope you intend to continue this series!
Well yes, the glow is because they are on fire, also try jumping when hitting, it's a good way to dodge hits.
Everyone is complaining in these comments about how this game is "like minecraft" so it's unoriginal, but Minecraft was based on other games that looked nearly the same as it did. Infiniminer, mainly, operated quite like Minecraft.
Beef, I like this one. It feels more alive, in depth. The creatures and items take shape, and have such fluid motions and animations. I've read that this game gets better with those aspects as you continue, so I'm for it.

Your characters do have customisation these days. And you can get plenty of costumes parts, including costumes for the sword. And there is different gliders and companions (flashlight characters) you can buy in the _STORE_ now.

It's more like Starbound. there are creatures that run away when you hit them and creatures that fight back. at night the ones that fight back glow in the dark and they become active aggressive. glowing mobs burn up in the sunlight it's the most beautiful blue flame when I catch one out of the corner of my eye I cant help but stop what I'm doing and drool. haha
so excited to see someone else playing this. yes it looks like minecraft but who cares its a game within its own thats voxal based. i love the feel this game gives off.

A bunch of people are calling a lot of sanbox or volex based games 'Minecraft clones' and It's a rather dumb observation, they have been around before minecraft was a thing.
I like it beef! something that's still the same yet different enough to be interesting.
Who remembers cube world? I wish that they worked on that game still!
I would be interested in seeing more. I like the textures a lot. But yeah the comparisons to Mine craft are always going to be there.

There are some things that have changed since this video... The look of some thing... New _Bundles/Costumes_ to buy... New features, like The camera options and _Drone_ option, Painting feature, Creative Mode. And look at your character and his hand in this video compared to their new look in 2022. Even the setup of certain things on screen, like the location of the DIG slot and other slots next to the Quickbar. And what about the Crafting Menu and Inventory Menu. Looks different, plus when you open one these days, you have the option above the menu to click and open the other menus, like Crafting, Inventory, Blueprints, Map, Codex (quests).
