i wish i could have visited the World Trade Center. My father had a trip to NYC back in the 80's, when he was a child. They didn't visit the World Trade Center. However they still saw it from the Stature of Liberty. when i asked him about the Twin Towers he just said that he always just viewed them as two office buildings. Nothing special. I still cant believe two massive sky scrapers disappeared in a single day, let alone within a few hours.

That would be kind of impossible though. Even if the planes would've impacted way lower, one-sided and made sure to destroy all the core beams, the weight of those buildings were so large, any kind of initial topple angle would already cause so much stress, that the whole thing just starts sandwiching floors underneath and it would still appear as a mostly straight collapse. For example the south tower actually was mostly weakened one sided and when the collapse began, the top part toppled like 35 degrees or so, but with a weight of roughly the titanic, it still went straight down.

I was in middle school and I used to watch the Today Show in the morning before catching the bus. I remember around 98-99 first ever seeing or hearing of these buildings, and they had Matt Lauer in front of them talking about the construction of the buildings, and how they were the tallest buildings in the World. Growing up on the east coast and seeing the twin towers, I was always intrigued with seeing two massively tall identical buildings. I was a kid so I guess it didn't take much, but for people who never got a chance to see the twin towers in person, videos and pictures don't do it justice on how massive the buildings were, just as these buildings standing side by side like that.

I was in Kuala Lumpur early this year. It's quite impressive. I have vertigo and could not go up... There's an impressive mall attached to the Petronas. A new one was just built in KL and it's iconic already. The Merdeka 118 located in a different area of the CBD of KL close to Chinatown. It's the second tallest in the world Yes.. There is a stadium right by it. It's needs demoed and rebuilt. The some new development will still need to take place. A mall will also be attached.

I beleive their design is based on the minarets of an early mosque somewhere.
Osaka in Japan has some "twin towers" near Umeda, in the north of the main city. My job had a Christmas party there once. They only really dominate their immediate area, and don't seem that tall from a distance. Tall enough for me when I was up there, though!
Osaka also has the Sky Garden, which is two very narrow twin towers with a shared roof / observation deck. The escalator to get onto the roof goes "outside"!

I had a dream in the late 90's that I was in one of these towers. I was in business attire. Suddenly there was a huge explosion and I knew I had to make it to the sky bridge and run to the other tower. I was flat out sprinting for my life. I got half way across and I felt and heard an explosion and knew that both towers were experiencing something catastrophic. I decided to press on to the other tower anyway. A group of people and I decided to take a chance and get in an elevator...it went into a freefall and slammed onto the bottom floor. The doors flew open and I knew I would die!
