50 people died in the Marriott World Trade Center (mainly firefighters who staged their operations there) there’s a story of a businessman who was staying on one of the higher floors and only decided to leave a couple minutes before the second tower collapsed, he was aided by firefighters and he saw the debris crush the hotel, luckily he was in the small sliver of the hotel that wasn’t crushed and made his way down the staircase, they made their way to the third floor before the first tower collapsed, in another stroke of luck that section of the hotel was the only part that remained up and he and several firefighters survived and made their way out of the rubble

If I remember right, it went from Vista to Marriott after the 1993 bombing, and during said repairs they added that big glass overhang to the entrance.

In 2001, I was looking at reserving a hotel for a trip I was taking to New York. Normally, I would stay at a closet-sized room in Mid-town, paying an arm and a leg for the privilege. Checking around, I found a reasonably priced room downtown at the Marriott World Trade Center Hotel. While a bit out of the way, I booked the room looking to save some money. I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious the room was along with its other amenities. I stayed three nights and vowed to stay there again whenever I traveled to NYC. This was late August, 2001.
The day after the attacks, I received in the mail a letter from Marriott containing a survey asking me to rate my stay at their hotel. I shudder to think what it would have been like if I had been there the morning of the attacks.

There was an FBI informant doing a sting operation at the restaurant in the Marriott hotel (WTC3) when the attack started. I think it was a tax evasion case or something like that he was investigating with the sting operation. He secretly brought a recording device hoping to get an incriminating statement from the suspect he was meeting with on tape. That recording contained raw audio from both planes hitting as there was chaos and panic all over the place, it was quite bone chilling to listen to.

@@danevertt3210 None of us can know what was going through their minds in a horrible situation like that. Knowing that this is it, and knowing that your ending is both violent and horrible. If I were in that situation, trapped in excessive heat, fire and despair around you, I would've jumped too. It's a much faster way to exit than being burned alive. I'm sure they didn't take that decision easily, thoughts/tears about their family, regrets and future achievements. The most disturbing moment for me was when one gentleman tried his best to climb down one of the pillars to a lower floor, but lost his grip. I'm sure all of them tried hard to survive but no one came to their rescue. The problem is we humans never learn anything from the past, we forget easily and bound to repeat the same mistakes all over again.

Yes, he didn’t argue that the stage wasn’t there. He’s saying that the assembly of all the chairs in front of it weren’t there on the 11th. So it’s as if for that photo to really be on the 10th, the chairs were cleaned up during sunrise. Highly unlikely. The picture most likely is from at closest, the Friday/Saturday/Sunday before, where the concert was done and the chairs hadn’t been cleaned away yet.

    1. The 1993 bombing memorial was unveiled in 1995 so it narrows it down to '95 and later
    2. The navigation signs are metal grey, so it could not be later than June-July 2001.
    3. It could be me but apparently there is a sign visible at the Church St. entrance, which could be the "Peace On Earth" sign.

It's very possible that photo is from the days leading up to the 11'th if not the 10'th. The stage is in the exact same spot that it is seen in some pictures and video I saw on a documentary featured on Netflix (It's called 9/11 and the war on terror if you wanna check it out). However, I don't remember all the chairs (I'm assuming they're chairs since it's a stage) set up in the clips they showed. There was another documentary I watched about the 10'th, and it explained that they had a number of events going on in the evenings throughout that week, so the stage had to be set up and ready to go. I think the pamphlet they showed on the documentary said something about a salsa dance presentation, but I could have that wrong.
